RustWeek Hackathon
We’re excited to welcome everyone attending RustWeek 2026 for another collaborative day of coding!
This year, we’re partnering up with [Zed](https://zed.dev/) and [Kiesraad](https://www.kiesraad.nl/) (Dutch Electoral Council) to bring you some fun challenges to hack on.
Your friendly hackathon organizers are still pulling together details but we'll open the Discord channel soon with more details including hackathon tracks, prizes, and schedule for the day.
And you will not be alone!
* **From Kiesraad**, the Electoral Council’s Abacus engineers will be on-site to collaborate with you on software for election results and seat allocation, with several good first issues and challenges, and they would love your input and proof-of-concept ideas!
* **From Zed**, we will have no less than seven devs from the Zed team ready to pair with you. This will be a great chance to get started with Zed (if you don't use it already), and work on some cool issues and projects together.
You do **not** need a ticket to the RustWeek conference to attend the hackathon. The hackathon is free of charge; we will provide coffee, tea, lunch and refreshments.
The hackathon will be held at Kinepolis, the same venue as the conference.
Schedule
Doors open: 9:00
Opening: 9.30
Hacking Begins: 10.00
Demos and wrap up: 6.00
We will keep you supplied with food and drinks during and after the hackathon.

Automating Greener Code: Using AI Agents to optimise software efficiency
There are many resources available for guidance on how to write code that is efficient and results in more sustainable software applications, but applying these at scale can be challenging, and often isn’t a priority for busy teams.
GitHub have recently released Agentic Workflows, a way of specifying automation tasks in human-readable format to be performed by an AI agent as part of a GitHub Actions workflow. In this talk, Max Mizzi from GitHub's Sustainability team gives an overview of Agentic Workflows, and will demonstrate how they can be used to improve software efficiency through both structured green software rules and autonomous performance engineering. He'll finish by walking through a real-world use-case showing how the technology helped to dramatically reduce the energy consumption - and carbon footprint - of a major website.
Come along if you want to learn more about using AI to improve the energy efficiency of your software.
Check out the Green Software Brighton [website](https://greensoftwarebrighton.co.uk/) for links to previous talks.
Arrive from 18:00 for pizza and drinks. Event will start at 18:30. We always head for a drink and a chat locally afterwards too.

**George vertelt hoe AI Cyberaanvallen verandert**
**Agenda**
14:45 - 15:00 - Inloop
15:00 - 16:00 - Neurale netwerken
16:15 - 17:15 - AI risico’s en kansen
17:15 - 18:00 - Eten
18:00 - 18:45 - Fraude fabriek
We zien je graag op de Techday!
Entrepreneurs Evening - Pub Edition
Hi all,
We’re back at Mick O’Connells and ready for another strong evening!
We’ve got our own space again. Walk in, turn right at the bar, head past the dart boards, and you’ll find us in the side room.
We've introduced a simple rotating format that gives you the chance to actually speak with everyone in the room.
Short, focused conversations, good energy, and a lot more fun than it sounds.
We’ll throw in a few conversation topics to get things going, but how you use the evening is entirely up to you.
Come with intention, or don’t. Talk business, find clients, meet future partners, make friends, or just unwind with people who get it.
We’re all building something, and we all have to roll with the punches.
Only rule: you’re an entrepreneur, freelancer, or about to become one within the next 3 months. If not… the clock starts now ;)
Try to arrive on time so we can kick things off properly. The activities start at 20:00!
Can't find us? Look for the grey Gnome. He’ll guide you better than any sign ever could.
See you there.

Tuesday, June 2nd, 5:00–8:30 PM Eastern
Central Ohio Chapter Meeting
IN PERSON IN COLUMBUS
How I Get Private Lenders and Partners to Fund My Deals
If you can’t fund it, you don’t have a deal.
And right now, funding is where more investors are getting stuck.
Private lenders are more cautious.
Partners are asking better questions.
And deals that look good on paper still fall apart when the money doesn’t show up.
That’s why we’re bringing in a panel of investors who are actually getting their deals funded right now.
You’ll hear how they’re finding money, structuring deals, and building relationships that lead to repeat funding.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
* Where they’re finding private lenders today
* How they start conversations that lead to funding
* What makes lenders and partners say YES
* How they structure deals to be fundable
* The biggest mistakes investors make when raising money
* How to build repeat funding relationships
**Early Session (6:00–7:00 PM Eastern):**
**Having Trouble Finding Tenants? How Community Shelter Board Can Help**
Nicholas Brenner will walk you through programs designed to help rapidly rehouse tenants, including financial support that can stabilize your rentals.
**The Deal Room (7:00–7:30 PM Eastern)**
Bring deals, funding needs, buyers, and problems.
This is where connections turn into action.
This meeting is for serious real estate investors nationwide, and we’re known for our high-content, real-life education and our nationwide community of dealmakers.
Members and non-members at all levels are welcome.

Drunken Philosophy: What’s up with all the AI hate?
**Welcome to Drunken Philosophy** a casual, curious social discussion
**Optional topic for this meetup: What's up with all the AI hate?**
A recent survey found that 74% of Americans have a negative view of AI, and I want to know why. Come out and debate whether AI is good or bad.
My hot take: a labor-saving tool that could potentially help cure cancer gets called dangerous because it might raise unemployment or cause a speculative investment bubble, that tells you a lot more about capitalism and the economic system we live under than it does about the tool itself. As a computer programmer, I think AI is a wonderful tool that has increased my productivity by at least an order of magnitude. I'd go so far as to say Claude Code is the best tool I have ever used. Debate me and name a better one.
Is AI potentially dangerous? Yes, but so are a lot of tools. Chainsaws. Steam engines (early ones would occasionally explode and kill everyone in the room). Do you think cavemen sat around debating whether fire could be used as a weapon or for self-harm, and decided not to discover it?
I have two friends who hate AI for opposite reasons: one thinks it's a fad and not useful, and the other thinks it's going to take over everything and cause human extinction.
Come out tonight, have a friendly debate, and make some friends.
No lectures. Friendly crowd. Drop in for one drink and stay if it's fun.
