Trump’s “3D Chess” in Geopolitics: Strategy or Improvised Disruption?
Trump’s “3D Chess” in Geopolitics: Strategy or Improvised Disruption?
**This week’s session is a structured debate.** The question is not whether you *like* Donald Trump. The question is whether his geopolitical actions represent a coherent long-term strategic recalibration — or short-term transactional disruption. We aim for analytical distance. No cult energy. No Trump Derangement Syndrome. We examine the **who**, **what, why, when, and how**: * What concrete strategic shifts occurred under his policies? * Why did he use tariffs, sanctions, NATO pressure, and bilateral deals as leverage? * When does unpredictability strengthen negotiation? * How did his approach change global alignments? * Did he accelerate the shift from cooperation to competitive realism? This debate welcomes different conclusions: * Was this strategic chess? * Was it destabilizing improvisation? * Was it a transitional phase in a multipolar world? * Did it expose fragilities in the liberal international order? ## **What Makes This Different** We are not here for partisan tribalism. **We welcome:** * **Pro-Trump arguments** * **Anti-Trump arguments** * **Structural/system-level critiques** We reject: * Moral hysteria * Slogan repetition * Performative outrage * Intellectual laziness * TDS This is not a space for ideological defense teams. It is a space for stress-testing ideas. No one will be shamed for defending or criticizing Trump. Ideas will be challenged. Individuals will not. ## **Debate Principles** * Speak from analysis, not emotion * Bring facts, context, or comparative examples * Distinguish personality from policy outcomes * Argue ideas, not identities Strong disagreement is expected. Good faith is required. *** ## **Location & RSVP** 📍 Ixelles – public bar Exact venue shared via WhatsApp after RSVP. Join here to confirm attendance: https://chat.whatsapp.com/LX7UkWGZ3UdLQWLBvNdezN Briefly introduce yourself when joining. AS always, no creeps or people who are looking to date.

If you arrive late and the session is already in progress, please wait on the side till the game/scene is finished. Wait for the session moderator to indicate when you can start participating. * **Location** We have two locations: Monday Sessions: The session takes place on the first floor of The Sister Cafe. Stairs next to the bar. It's the room with a curtain at the door. Wednesday Sessions: At Brussels Beer Poject Rue Antoine Dansaert 188, 1000 Bruxelles * **Participation (Attendee list)** The session is limited to **12 attendees**. This ensures the session is manageable and everybody gets enough chances to participate. Therefore, only the people on the "attendee list" can participate in the session. **Waiting list**: People on the waiting list should keep an eye on the updates in case someone from the attendees' list drops and you get their spot. It's important for the people on the waiting list also to update their RSVP status if they already know they won't be joining the session. **Do you just want to observe?** In the regular session, we do not have an audience, only participants. Please do not join the session if you do not plan to participate in the games/scenes. If you are unsure about something, please contact the event host. *People on the attendee list are expected to take part.* * **RSVP Rules** * Please update your RSVP status in a timely manner if you can't make it to the session. This applies to people on the **attendee list AND waiting list.** * If you are on the waiting list and know you won't be able to join in case someone from the main list drops, please update your RSVP to "not going". This will give the next person on the waiting list a chance. * Emergencies aside, please update your RSVP status on time. Canceling at the last minute or just 1 hour before isn't helpful. * If we see a pattern from someone not showing up after confirming or last-minute cancellations, we reserve the right to prohibit session access. * Please write a comment if you cancel and your spot becomes available. With this, others will get an extra notification. **Improv Session Format** The session is held in English. The session has three sections: Warm-up, Scene games, and Cool down. **Warmup:** Quick group games are played to break the ice and get the creative juices flowing. **Scenes:** Then we move on to scene games. These are mostly from short-form improv, which can include different games with various gimmicks, like story building, character work, guessing, etc **Cool down:** One or two short group games to end the session. The rules are explained by the moderator before each game. There is no obligation to participate in games you are uncomfortable with. There can be feedback after a game is played. This is so we learn from each other and gain skills and insights. **Tip**: If you are new, pay attention to the regular players when they are performing and notice small details, like how a stage is cleared before a scene, how to enter a scene, and how to collaborate with each other. * **Who is it for?** Anyone interested in improv! We accept participants at all levels, beginners and advanced. This is a great place to start if you are new to improv. The basics will be explained. We only require the "Yes, and...!" spirit! If you are an advanced player and have ideas and games to share and work on, please do let us know. We look forward to welcoming you and doing improv!

Narrative Knowledge and the Paradox of Philosophy
Narrative Knowledge and the Paradox of Philosophy
General theme: Narrative Knowledge What are the consequences of our relying on narratives as a means to knowing, understanding and relating to the world? What are the advantages and disadvantages of our using narratives as a fundamental way to communicate with one another? Have our interactions and interrelationships in general become captivated (literally) by an excessive dominance of narratives? Just as walking upright has enhanced our ability to navigate our physical world, so has communicating via language enhanced our ability to navigate our social as well as introspective worlds. Dirt paths and asphalt roads we have created during our long process of walking upright have at the same time ultimately determined how we now currently interact with our physical landscapes - closed loops, literally and figuratively. Have all our inherited created narratives also closed-looped our minds, rigidly structuring how we relate to our own selves and to others? Is a key to cultural progress and evolution simply to add many new narratives, all expressing divergent perspectives? Or would de-narrating both our inner and outer worlds be an equally - possibly even more - valuable strategy? With what could we replace narratives if we still wanted/needed to connect and interact with ourselves, with others and with the world? Special theme: The Paradox of Philosophy Are there better ways to arrive at insight, understanding and meaning than by thinking philosophically? What we might call a "philosopher's paradox": 1.Philosophizing essentially demands optimizing our thinking (reasoning, conceptualizing, imagining...) as well as our overall awareness (of here, of now, of others, of self...). 2.Thinking typically diminishes awareness, and vice-versa. 3a. Western philosophy tends to prioritize thinking (abstract) over awareness (concrete). 3b. Much of western philosophy (even Phenomenology!) is consequently narrative in form. Conclusion: Optimizing our thinking necessitates ridding of (or at least suspending) our awareness. Nevertheless, awareness remains a valuable vehicle for attaining knowledge and insight. Is this "philosopher's paradox" simply an intellectual bug? Or is it a fundamental - arguably problematic - feature of our thinking that impedes us from knowing and experiencing anything most directly and fully? What better ways are there in any case to understand the nature of ourselves, our world and our existence than through thinking and philosophy?? Is a dog or rabbit more in touch with being and reality than a human? "Between your thoughts, it's the space that listens." Improvisation & Freedom – Singing without fear (All levels)
#### Do you freeze, overthink, or hold back when asked to improvise? Many singers feel blocked when improvising. You might worry about singing the wrong note, feel stiff when using your voice freely, or believe that improvisation requires creativity you don’t have. In this workshop led by our vocal teacher [Sandy](https://www.pacsonmusicschool.com/more-info-sandy), we’ll **explore improvisation through a guided vocal circle**, using vocalises, sounds, and spontaneous expression rather than prepared songs. **This approach helps you develop your ear, strengthen your musical instinct, and learn to listen and respond naturally in the moment.** Improvisation becomes less about thinking and more about sensing, listening, and allowing your voice to move freely. Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation* Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA

Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup (4th Tues)
Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room. This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us. COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
