We’ll explore how cybersecurity and AI intersect — AI as a powerful engine for threat detection, automation, and adaptive defense, while also lowering the barrier for cyberattacks through AI-driven hacking, social engineering, and automated exploits.
At the same time, cybersecurity is evolving to protect intelligent systems, data, and digital infrastructure in an increasingly AI-powered world.

[Hiking Series] M'sia - Ophir via Sagil (1,276m): Step-up for a full-day hike!
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](wa.me/+6588842635) **or +65 8884 2635! We have limited permits and must be applied in advance. Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! \****
Gunung Ledang, or commonly known as Mount Ophir (1,276m) is the highest mountain in Johor and almost the most climbed mountain there.
This is a good step-up hike for those who are looking to progress to tougher hikes after Gunung Datuk or are training or preparing for Kinabalu/Nepal etc.
**Who is this for?**
It serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking. Most do it as training for other treks, like Kinabalu, or Nepal.
**How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?**
It is twice as long as Gunung Datuk. The trek is around 4-5h up and 3-4h down, making it a total of 9h. The total elevation is around 1,000m up and down. It can be quite tiring on your legs.
It is generally tropical forest trail, with some rope portions, ladders and rock faces. It can be quite fun to go through the different terrain with the need to use your hands at some points.
However, if you have done Gunung Datuk before, the terrain is not that much of a surprise. The tough part is only the duration.
This is good for people who have some level of fitness, if not it will be fun for those who are first time in Malaysia!
**What happens if I am slow?**
There is a 1 guide to 7 hikers ratio. There is also a cut-off timing to the summit, if you fail to make it you will have to turn back! So far everyone I've brought made it =). Do note if you descent past a certain time, there is a penalty.
How many pax for the trip to happen?

Some additional questions:
1. How long is the ride to Mount Ophir
A: It takes only around 3-4h from Singapore
2. The journey to Ophir only takes 3 hours, why do we set off so early?
A: This is so that we can save money on accommodation/driver cost/taxi to MRT station. This also means there is a lack of sleep, so try to sleep in the vehicle! Bring a travel pillow!
3. Are there shower or toilet facilities at the park?
A: Yes there are but basic. Expect using a hose/bucket. Please bring a change of clothes and shower when you are down from Ophir. No smelly people in the vehicle!
4. What do I have to look out for?
A: There are mosquitoes and leeches sometimes, depends on the weather.
5. Where is dinner?
We would have dinner in Tangkak at a cheap and nice chinese restaurant, if there are dietary concerns there are other options around the area also.

{Leisure Hike}M'sia: Bukit Payung (5 peaks? Or is it 3) - Scenic Half Day Hike!
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](http://wa.me/+6588842635) **or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! \****
Bukit Payung is located in Batu Pahat, and is famous for its 5 "peaks" (Bukit Payung, Bukit Bandkuit, Bukit Alam, Bukit Botak and Bukit Berdiri) and views at each peak of the surrounding area.
The intention of this trip is to do a good half day hike, and then have a good meal and back to Singapore.
Do note there is only 1 transport, and there might be R&R elements post hike!
**Background**
Bukit Payung whole trail can take around 4-6h, depending on the speed. It also acts as a good starting hike for beginners or first-timers, and often used as a training hike for those who are bored of the other hikes in the region. It is not technically difficult, but require some amount of walking. It is comparatively easier than Angsi.
**{Leisure Hike Series}**
The leisure hike series is one which focuses on hikes that are shorter, does not require one to take an overnight transport, has more time for food and other activities. The hike is not necessarily easy.
It is important to be open-minded and sporting enough to embrace challenges! There are mosquitoes and leeches at times =)
**[Hike Information]**
We will aim to do all the peaks. The hike takes a total of 4-6hs. Fast ones can take even less time.
It can be muddy at times, however, nothing too steep or too difficult! This hike can be an eye-opener for beginners and will be tiring if you are not used to walking for hours!
The various summits have nice scenery and photo opportunities, especially on the rocks/boulders. Just be careful when taking photos! It can be quite exposed so get sunblock or a hat!
To confirm, do RSVP and send me a whatsapp message! A Whatsapp group/info-session will be set up. A minimum of 12 pax is needed for this trip to go ahead. Your place is only confirmed once payment is made.
Here is the estimated itinerary:
\~5.00am - 6am: Meet Marsiling MRT, depart for Bukit Payung
9.00am - Breakfast, or breakfast on the go. (Pack lunch)
10.00am – Start trek
4.00pm- Reach back down and head to R&R to wash up.
6.00++pm - Dinner (own cost) and head back to Singapore
***\*Please add a 1 hour buffer for group speed\****
***\*\*Itinerary and timings to be confirmed in the group chat, and might change depending on traffic conditions/on the ground decisions by the trek leader.***

FAQ
Are there shower or toilet facilities?
A: No shower facilities at the start and end point. Bring wet wipes, and we'll head to a R&R area for shower.
How fit do I have to be? I am afraid of being the slowest/burden to the group.
A: You would need basic endurance and be open-minded, embrace the challenge of using your hands if needed!
What happens if it rains!
A: We would continue if its light and go slowly, or wait it out most likely as tropical showers do not last long.

Systema Regular Group Class (Adults & Teens, All Levels)
**For ages 13 and above.**
Systema is a Russian Martial Art founded by the late Colonel Mikhail Ryabko and Vladimir Vasiliev. Systema was designed to develop individuals in a combative style which upholds the intrinsic value of all human life. This is why it is non-destructive – even of one’s enemies. Through the use of simple exercises, breathing techniques and massage work, Systema helps you to build a strong mind and body.
Here is what you can expect:
**Warm ups**
Class begins with warming up each of the systems of the body – from the breathing, muscular and nervous system, each component needs to be properly engaged.
**Thematic studies**
Fetching from a huge pool of drills and sometimes even crafting specialized ones, our instructors format a logical progression of the concept being shared. Depending on the ability of the class, the drills are modified to be at the optimal level for learning, with suitable modifications given to students based on their individual performance.
**Application of concepts**
After the thematic studies, some time is given for the students to apply the training – the intensity is decided upon by the students under the supervision of the instructor. At times, the instructor will request for the students to push themselves, while at other times they are there to taper in the sparring to a productive level.
**Cool downs**
The cooldowns are usually done in a way both the help the class recover from the higher intensity application section as well as to revisit the concepts again in a calmer manner. This helps to ensure everyone is reminded of the key points. Sometimes we do a little massage.
**Training circles**
At the end of every training session, we circle up to share a few words about the training. This tradition was handed to us from our founders and is an integral part of our training.

Systema Group Class (Adults & Teens, Beginner)
**For ages 13 and above.**
We recommend a comfortable t-shirt and track pants or long pants. Please ensure your attire does not have sharp edges as these might cause unintended injuries to others and yourself. We also recommend you to wear clothes that you can afford to get ruined as there are many contact drills where they could get pulled or warped.
We do not have shower facilities at the gym although there is a changing room and toilet at both locations. You can bring a set of spare clothes to change into after class with a towel or wet tissue to clean yourself if you wish.
Bottled water is available for purchase at both locations, but you can also bring your own plain water. Food and drinks are not permitted in the venues.

Practical Philosophy Meetup - Singapore 🇸🇬
🏛️ **WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?**
Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎
Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.
The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌
📓 **HOW DOES IT WORK?**
Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Dsjl0cwLVxR4tw1jTC1Osx?mode=gi_t), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.
When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture.
**General Meeting Agenda**
Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline:
* 19:00-19:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start.
* 19:15-19:25 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines.
* 19:25-20:45 - Break into small groups - introduce yourselves and general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them.
* 20:45-21:00 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions of the topic - each group gives a short 1-minute summary. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo.
* 21:00 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other.
**🧧PRICING?**
Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! We just ask that if we are meeting in a café, buy a beverage! Some chapters rent a space for us to meet, and they may ask for donations to help contribute to the cost of rent. Donations will always be 100% voluntary though!
💛 **WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY**
🗣 “I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wrong” - Ekam
🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.” - Daniel
**🤓 FAQ**
* What will we talk about? What's the topic?
The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you don’t see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Dsjl0cwLVxR4tw1jTC1Osx?mode=gi_t).
* Do I need to study or read anything to attend?
No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required.
* Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?
The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school.
* Is it mostly men that attend?
Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms.
* Can I come alone?
Of course you can, we encourage it :)
* Can I be late?
Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation.
* Where do you meet?
The location is posted in Meetup and our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Dsjl0cwLVxR4tw1jTC1Osx?mode=gi_t) group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/practical-philosophy-locations/).
**PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY - Making Philosophy Available To All.** ✨

You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
*Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code*
Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs.
In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling.
The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options.

AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat.
But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review.
In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity.
We’ll cover:
* What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot
* How agents break tasks into steps
* Where agents are genuinely useful today
* Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review
* How to design simple AI workflows for your own work
* A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish
No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
