The theme is to do with exploring various aspects of power, including how it is distributed, challenged, and transformed in different contexts.
In the first part, there will be speeches.
In the second half, we will have impromptu speeches preparation in groups called Table topics where guests can participate.
We meet on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of each month from 6:30 pm online. Each meeting is a mixture of prepared speeches by our members, speaking roles, and impromptu speaking challenges by members and guests. Our meetings are free to attend and you only have to speak if you want to. For in-person attendance, snacks will be provided.

Full Moon Gong Bath Beckenham Place Mansion
**Cosmic Souls,**
**A very warm welcome to anyone who is considering booking this session.**
**I am back in the stunning Beckenham Mansion; a place like no other and a magical location that is loved by so many.**
A grand, old building with an adjoining park right around the corner from New Beckenham train station. Bring a friend or two and get ready to be bathed in the healing frequencies of the gong.
This session will honour the lunar cycle. We will tune into the power of the Full Moon and focus on bringing healing to past versions of ourselves as we step into a bolder way of being.
Our evening together will involve an overview of the full moon and how it may affect you; followed by a guided meditation. Once you are in a state of deep rest, you will be taken on a cosmic gong journey. There will be space at the end for snacks and to draw an oracle card (or two)!
All you have to do is turn up with an open heart & mind, chill on your yoga mat and melt into the floor :-) The gong, with its mighty roar and gentle whisper, helps us to tap into our innate wisdom and stillness within.
## IMPORTANT BITS AND BOBS:
**ARRIVAL:**
**Please arrive 5 minutes before the session begins and avoid being late, as late-comers cannot be admitted. Session will start at 7:00 pm.**
There is no reception desk in the mansion and once the session is in flow I can't admit anybody in. Therefore, please be punctual.
**WALKING THROUGH THE PARK IN THE EVENING:**
The mansion is located in the middle of the park. There are large fairly lights that light up the path leading from the main entrance at Beckenham Hill Road to the mansion. Currently, there aren't any additional streetlamps. If you are driving, you can drive all the way up to the mansion - please close the wooden gate behind you. I will provide the access code in the preparation email, sent before the event takes place.
**EQUIPMENT: Please bring your own yoga mats blankets (sleeping bags). Dress extra warm in layers. This is an old Georgian mansion and it can get a bit chilly in the winter months, I can't stress this enough.**
Please be punctual, we start at 7 pm sharp. I allow an additional 10 minutes for latecomers but after that, the doors will be closed.

### Observing AI Applications with OpenLit and OpenTelemetry
Observability is the ability to measure the current state of a system. With the rapid emergence of LLMs and GenAI applications moving into production, teams now need deeper insight into how these systems behave in real-world environments.
In this talk, Carly will explore best practices for observing production AI applications, covering how engineers can capture logs, traces, and metrics to better understand how LLMs interact within their application ecosystem.
She’ll walk through a real example of instrumenting an AI agent application written in TypeScript, using OpenLit to generate OpenTelemetry signals. The session will show the types of telemetry data teams can capture to identify usage patterns, detect errors, and troubleshoot issues commonly seen in production GenAI applications.

## 🎤 Speaker 2 - Kunal Kushwaha
**Senior Developer Advocate @ CAST AI**
### Optimizing Kubernetes and Unlocking Blockers with Container Live Migration
Kubernetes promises automation, yet most clusters run at around **10% CPU utilisation**, leaving large amounts of infrastructure sitting idle.
With endless instance types, constantly shifting prices, and the complexity of modern workloads, maintaining efficient clusters can quickly become a full-time job.
In this talk, Kunal explores the real-world challenges teams face when running Kubernetes in production. He’ll cover where Kubernetes automation works well, where it falls short, and why optimisation remains difficult for many teams.
Topics include:
* Why most Kubernetes clusters are underutilised
* The realities of autoscaling in production environments
* Challenges around instance types and Spot capacity
* Common mistakes teams make with HPA and VPA
Once these challenges are laid out, Kunal introduces Container Live Migration as a way to overcome some of these long-standing blockers.
To bring the concept to life, he’ll run a live technical demo where Pods running a small video game are migrated across nodes in real time, while the audience participates. The game continues running without downtime, demonstrating how live migration can improve cluster efficiency without disrupting workloads.

Free Human Towers Rehearsal + Social (Sunday)
Sunday rehearsal with Castellers of London. Meet us at the OBC Community Centre to help build human towers!
This get together is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends, socialise and have a go and explore your abilities as a human tower builder a.k.a Casteller!
For newcomers we have a team of trained Castellers who will introduce you to the group, guide you through the activity and help you safely take part in this unique Catalan tradition.
When you arrive just approach us as we are really friendly! If in doubt ask for Cuss! Please let us know if you are bringing guests.
After the rehearsal we go to a nearby pub for social drinks where everyone is welcome :)
What do you need?
1. Ideally a cotton shirt: to protect your neck and shoulders, the more durable the shirt/top the better. We do not recommend any thin items of clothing!
2. Jeans: allowing you to move freely without breaking.
3. Mask: We still require the use of a mask as you will be very close to your fellow Castellers - basically you will be hugging people!
The rest of the equipment is on us!
We take health and safety very seriously, both in relation to COVID-19 and also the activity- please be assured that the safety of all participants is of the utmost importance to us and we take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk, ensuring we all have a great time!
Our regular members won't be filling in the Meet Up to say they are going 🙂
So don't be put off if you see only a handful have said they are going.
A minimum of 25 on the day is normal. What the Meet Up may show is how many new people like yourself are going.

We will demystify the differences between OLTP and OLAP, walk through star schema vs snowflake (and why Power BI has a clear favorite), and show you the compression differences between normalized and columnar storage that will make you never look at an OLTP model the same way again.
We will cover the different types of dimensions, when to use them, and how to handle Slowly Changing Dimensions without losing your mind. You will leave knowing exactly how to identify a bad model, how to convert OLTP data into a clean star schema, and how to forge relationships that rule them all.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
**The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception**
Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory.
For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy.
She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps).
Ultimately, this talk focuses on the intersection of art and science—using data to inform creativity and build a brand that resonates with customers in a measurable way.

Sara Kear is Chief Marketing Officer at Condado Tacos, where she oversees brand, restaurant design, menu and pricing strategy, off-premise including catering, and customer data strategy. Since joining in 2021, she has helped grow the brand from 19 to 52 locations while building a data-driven marketing organization focused on loyalty and customer insights. Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
