Pablo Dominguez, A Tribute: Iberian Colours, Javier Ruibal, Chano Dominguez
Pablo Dominguez, A Tribute: Iberian Colours, Javier Ruibal, Chano Dominguez
In collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes and guitarist [Maria Camahort](https://mariacamahort.com/perfil/), Tuned In London presents a special fundraising tribute to London’s late great guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez from Cadiz, featuring his fellow musicians, his friends and family: [Iberian Colours](https://mariacamahort.com/mcq-iberian-colours/), a quintet project sprung from a multi-genre collaboration of Spanish musicians who seek to bring to classical Chamber Music inspiration from the vivid colours, rhythms and textures of Spanish musical art and traditions. Award-winning guitar (Maria Camahort), soprano (Laura Ruhí-Vidal), cello (Sergio Serra), violin (Violeta García) and Pablo Domínguez' percussion (Demi García Sabat) come together to create something of great charisma and personality. Their set will include the première of a piece composed for Pablo. [Javier Ruibal](https://www.javierruibal.com/), exceptional singer songwriter, composer, poet and writer, awarded the Premio Nacional de las Músicas Actuales 2017, collaborator and neighbour of Pablo, who has performed at Ronnie Scott's, WOMAD and the Union Chapel, will be bringing us his stunning voice and guitar, his deeply moving poetry, melodies and lyricism. Our special guest, [Chano Domínguez](https://chanodominguez.com/), father of Pablo, is an acclaimed and much-garlanded composer and pianist who brings a fusion of jazz and flamenco to his world-renowned innovative playing. On February 3rd, 2025, guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez (Cádiz, Spain) passed away as a result of a serious illness. One year later, his presence is still deeply felt in Spain, here in the UK and across the world, and this concert stands as a tribute to his genuine spirit and singular musical voice. City Hope Church is the venue in which he performed the last of his seven Tuned In London concerts. This will be VERY SPECIAL... we will celebrate Pablo in the company of his friends, his family and his fellow musicians. Do come, do tell your friends about it... We will also be hoping to raise funds for Pablo's wife and young children who will be present. So even if you can't attend, you might donate... Tickets are available on the [Tuned In London websit](https://tunedin.london/)e. Hope you can come. Doors open at 6.15 when the bar will be open. Music from 7pm.
Royal Institution "Discourse: Discovering what exoplanets are made from"
Royal Institution "Discourse: Discovering what exoplanets are made from"
This is a **theatre** and **livestream** talk from the **Royal Institution of Great Britain.** Join Astrophysicist **Jonathan Tennyson** as he explores how improvements in spectroscopy are changing our understanding of exoplanets. **ADVANCE BOOKING AND PAYMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS TALK.** **More details and booking instructions on the RI web site:** **[https://www.rigb.org/whats-on/discourse-discovering-what-exoplanets-are-made](https://www.rigb.org/whats-on/discourse-discovering-what-exoplanets-are-made)** **SUMMARY** We now know that essentially every star in the galaxy supports a planetary system – so far, over 6000 exoplanets have been positively identified and grouped in 4600 planetary systems, and this number continues to grow. The investigation of exoplanets has focused on their composition, formation, and habitability. These questions are best answered by monitoring light emissions from the planet and capturing these data from spectroscopy. In the second Discourse of 2026, astrophysicist **Jonathan Tennyson** will join us to explore how advancements in spectroscopy are transforming our understanding of exoplanets. Jonathan will examine the two main issues currently facing researchers observing exoplanets: for some exoplanets, their temperatures far exceed those on Earth and produce much richer and more complex spectra. And for the majority, we cannot directly see them at all. Discover the techniques being used to address these issues and obtain the spectral signatures of planets, combined with quantum mechanical methods. This is a theatre and livestream event for an adult audience, where the speakers and audience in our Theatre are joined by our audience online. **The livestream will go live around 7.10pm, and the talk will begin at 7.20pm. If you register but miss the livestream, the video will be available to you via the same link for two weeks after the event date.** For more information on livestreams, see the information below, or [visit our FAQs page](https://www.rigb.org/whats/faqs-ri-livestreams). Please use the event link you have been provided with. By booking to attend events at the Royal Institution, you confirm that you have read and accept the Ri's [event terms and conditions](https://www.rigb.org/terms-and-conditions). You also agree to abide by [our code of conduct](https://www.rigb.org/about-us/how-were-run/our-code-conduct-ri-visitors), and help to create a great experience for yourself and your fellow participants.

MUSEUM LATES FOR DATES: Straight & LGBTQIA+ singles night | V&A Museum
MUSEUM LATES FOR DATES: Straight & LGBTQIA+ singles night | V&A Museum
**A fresh take on dating for straight and LGBTQIA+ singles in their 30s, 40s and 50s, brought to you by LoMAZ. We visit a different museum on the last Friday of each month, before heading to the pub.** This month, join us for a relaxed evening of conversation and connections at the **[V&A Museum South Kensington](https://www.vam.ac.uk/south-kensington)**. It's just like a usual LoMAZ event except for one thing: everyone there will be single. Come for friendship, come for dates, come along! [https://www.vam.ac.uk/south-kensington](https://www.vam.ac.uk/south-kensington) **HOW DOES IT WORK?** **6:00 pm - 6:40 pm: Meet and greet in the V&A Museum at *Museum Cafe. Look for the LoMAZ sign.*** Address: Cromwell Road, London, SW7 2RL * Look out for LoMAZ hosts wearing a 'host' sticker in a yellow frame and they will welcome you. We will post a note in the comments on Friday. * You can choose to wear a LoMAZ logo sticker (indicating you are straight) or a LoMAZ rainbow sticker (indicating you are LGBTQIA+), or you can wear both stickers. Wearing stickers means everyone can see who is part of the group and helps you find us as we move around the museum. If you see someone with a LoMAZ sticker, feel free to chat to each other. **6:45 pm - 7:40 pm: Explore the museum** * We'll then explore the museum together. Hosts will always be there to chat to, and there will be an optional activity. * Meeting point to go to the pub is by the Cromwell Road exit near the circular reception desk. **8.00pm - late:** **Pub social: *pub tbc*** * We'll carry on the evening in a nearby pub. If there is suitable bar location in the V&A late event we stay there for a bit too. ***Venue tbc in the event comments the day before the event.*** * As this is a free event, we can't afford to book a private space. The pub we are going to does not accept table bookings after 6pm. So please expect some standing and mingling. **TICKETS:** Tickets are free and there is no need to book. **CONTACT ON THE NIGHT:** * **We'll update where the group is throughout the evening in the event comments.** * You can also message a host via Meetup if you have questions or any difficulties finding us. * Lates for Dates events do *not* have a WhatsApp group. **PLEASE NOTE:** * LoMAZ events are hosted by volunteers. Please change your RSVP if you can no longer attend. * This is a mixed orientation event. Let’s keep it friendly and respectful—please report any concerns to the hosts or Meetup. * All attendees at this meetup are coming as individuals and are responsible for their own security, and health and safety. Please check the Meetup Help section and British Museum for their policies. **Thank you for your interest in the LoMAZ and our Museum Lates for Dates event.** Image credit: Photo by J. 🚀Explore The Night Sky + Post Pub Drinks🔭(Subject to Weather)🪐
🌌Ever look up and marvel with insatiable curiosity at both the beauty and wonder of the **universe?** That wild sobering thought that somewhere in the chaos of creation - the emergence of life - the universe became **conscious** enough to look back and ask the existential questions; How it all started, our evolution and place in it, and where else in the cosmos other complex life might exist (we know almost every star you see has planets orbiting with up to **20 billion habitable exoplanets** easily in our galaxy alone!)? 🪐🌟🌟🌟 🌍Then RSVP to view the potential life harbouring moons of **Jupiter**, comets, the famous **Orion Nebula** where stars like our sun were born, the majestic rings of **Saturn**, the international space station, well known star fields, remnants of **supernova** witnessed by our early ancestors, multi-star solar systems (think the double sun in Starwars), the Tau Ceti star with **2 Earth like planets** orbiting in the habitable zone, plus a range of other fascinating celestial wonderments (comets, galaxies) over drinks and engaging chats and banter this Jan fully hosted by a passionate amateur astronomer and former global Journalist covering big picture stories including cutting edge science related ones. 🚀In between observing - we'll have **drinks and engaging chats** on all astronomy related topics for those inclined - space exploration, Fermi Paradox, Astrobiology, Cosmology, paleontology, SETI/Drake Equation (I have my own augmented version giving more realistic estimates of likely alien civilisations!), exoplanetology etc as well as non space chatter and banter too. No doubt we'll hear the usual jokes we've all heard before! If those don't make you laugh, my impersonation of Los Angeles ET will! 👽 And to help set the mood and make the night feel even extra galactic, I’ll put my DJ hat to play some space‑themed tunes and songs about the stars! **======= Joining Astronomers Group & Telescopes =======** I'm able to take a limited number of people (please only RSVP if you can make it) to join my friendly informal relaxed London amateur astronomers' club that have been for over a decade with their regulars made up of up to about 150 people. As there will be people attending from this private Astronomers group as well as others from one of my other groups - the total attendees will be far higher than rsvps here and the public liability insurance only covers a max number of people - hence I need to impose strict limits on attendance. Over the years we have enjoyed numerous social evenings of stargazing and thought provoking chatter with people of all ages and varying levels of astronomy knowledge - so complete beginners that are genuinely curious about the universe are very welcome. If you are just looking to meet generic randoms then there are others groups that will better cater for that. The world renowed **BBC Television Sky at Night** also attended our events pre covid and interviewed some of us for it's show that aired on BBC1 in Feb 2019. BBC **Radio London** (94.9 FM / digital) were there Aug 2023 to cover our meteor shower event broadcasting live to millions of Londoners for 3 hours You don't need a telescope as you will be able to view through scopes belonging to me and other club members (as long as you behave responsibly and don't temper with expensive equipment). If you have your own telescope/binoculars feel free to bring along and I can help you setting it up if you're a newbie **==== Food & Drinks With Seating From Warm Indoor Cafe ====** Alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, cider only), hot drinks and food/snacks will be available to purchase from an indoor cafe at the observation point which Regent's park keep open exclusively for the astronomers group so please don't bring your own drinks **==== ITINERARY =====** We will meet outside Camden Station. After a short wait for anyone delayed, I will escort everyone to our observation point in the local park 15 minutes walk away and brief you in terms of what to expect, observing etiquette, tips, equipment handling and take any questions you have - weather general or astronomy/cosmology related. **After Drinks:** Unless I have a very important 9AM Thursday deadline for a client presentation or something that I'm still gonna be writing 2 mins before start - most of us usually head our way back to Camden for another drink. If so - I will annouce the pub when we leave the park **==== What Can You Expect To See (this time of year)? ====** * Orion Nebula * Jupiter and 4 moons * Meteors * Andromedia Galaxy * Saturn, rings & moon * Star clusters such as the Pleiades & Owl Cluster etc * International Space station fly by * Venus & Mercury * Binary & tripple star systems (think planet *Tatooine in* Starwars!), * Neptune * Uranuus * Mars * Our moon * A look towards the galactic centre where that supermassive £22b Labour black hole sits (Sagittarius A) More here from Jodrell Bank Observatory/Astrophysics Centre: [http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/astronomy/nightsky/](http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/astronomy/nightsky/) Guide to viewing the cosmos for beginners: [https://phys.org/news/2018-05-universe-distant-starstips-cosmology-backyard.html#jCp](https://phys.org/news/2018-05-universe-distant-starstips-cosmology-backyard.html#jCp) **===Weather Dependent=====** The event is subject to clear skies forecasts on the night so if on the actual afternoon of the event the weather forecasts looks unsuitable beyond doubt then I will postpone so please check the event status on the day of the event . Muse: The Cinephiles present 'The Chronology of Water'
**Muse x Club Room: The Chronology of Water** **DATE:** Sunday 1st March - Doors open at 4.45pm for nibbles and sips * **Join us for pre-drinks at 4.45pmThe screening will start at 5.30pm** **TICKETS:** £8.85/ £5+ members [TICKETS HERE](https://www.picturehouses.com/movie-details/000/HO00017593/club-room-x-muse-the-chronology-of-water/0000000171?filter=) “Your life doesn’t happen in any kind of order. Events don’t have cause and effect relationships the way you wish they did. It’s all a series of fragments and repetitions and pattern formations. Language and water have this in common.” \~ Lidia Yuknavitch Directed by Kristen Stewart and based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s acclaimed memoir, this film is where cinema and memoir collide, and where water isn’t just the element, but a metaphor: for pain, for pleasure and for the lasting echo of a queer life lived fully. *The Chronology of Water* traces the fragmented life of writer Lidia Yuknavitch, moving fluidly through childhood trauma, competitive swimming, sex, addiction, and artistic awakening. Told in impressionistic bursts rather than a linear narrative, the film treats memory like water—unstable, embodied, and impossible to contain. It’s less about redemption than survival: how a queer, unruly self is shaped through pain, desire, and the radical act of telling one’s own story. **About Muse: The Cinephiles** This is a cinephiles group for lesbians, queer and trans women predominantly, but is also open to the wider LGBTQIA+ community and their guests. We are committed to celebrating our queer community within a co-created ethos of mutual respect and kindness. We affirm and celebrate trans and non-binary people as member of our community. We stand against transphobia in all its forms. Our aim is to provide a queer cinephiles group that stimulates a mix of thoughtful discussion, playfulness, and curiosity. Our screenings will focus predominantly on celebrating lesbian, queer and trans women – showcasing both celebrated and hidden queer cinema gems, we aim to foster a playful curiosity and build a vibrant, supportive community. **Please note:** PHOTOS & VIDEOS will be taken at our events. Some of these will be posted on our social media. Please come and chat to a host if you would prefer not to appear online.

Oscar International Nominee: SIRAT at the Gateway Film Center
Join us as we get together to see SIRAT, an Oscar-nominated Best International Film from Spain that follows a father, accompanied by his son, goes looking for his missing daughter in North Africa. Here’s a description, trailer and our plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: A father, accompanied by his son arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco while searching for his daughter who vanished months ago at one of these endless, sleepless parties. As their search continues, the journey forces them to confront their own limits. The film is directed by Oliver Laxe and stars Sergi Lopez, Bruno Nunez Arjona and Richard Bellamy. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww-IXHXvS70 BUZZ & ACCLAIM: SIRAT has already won numerous awards, including 4 at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, along with the Chicago, Montclair and Toronto International Film Festivals! It also earned a whopping 11 nominations at the 40th Goya Awards, including Best Film and Director, and was nominated for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound at this year’s Academy Awards. The film is earning a stellar 92% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes which calls it “an unforgettable exercise in tension” and “a brutal reminder that the journey can be more important than the destination.” PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will confirm/announce details as the date gets closer. Once showtime is confirmed, advance purchase (via GFC website preferred) is advised! Once you have your ticket, please list your seat number in the Comments section of this event. PARKING: Close, convenient parking is available in the nearby garage (located between 9th and 11th, just off High St). Bring your ticket with you and have it validated at the theater and for $2, you’re covered for the night! Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

Mjomii Dessert and Coffee House
Mjomii Dessert and Coffee House
Mjomii is a sweet and wonderful place with very high quality desserts and teas. It is kind of small, so if it is crowded, there may not be seating for everyone the whole time. If you can take a small break from work and come over and say hi and get a "pick-me-up", that would be great!
