**NEW UPDATED LOCATION - We are meeting at Yonge Sheppard Center Food Court (near Jimmy the Greek) -** We will meet in the seating in front of or near by "Jimmy the Greek" in the food court. Note food court is at level -1 (lower level) **We will discuss day trading, swing trading strategies and tools.** This will not be a presentation format. It is a **casual meetup to meet people who are interested in trading or building a career around it, especially algorithmically. No "financial gurus" are welcome.** Join us for a meetup where we share trading ideas, and connect with others who share a common interest in investing. Algorithmic trading is commonly used by large institutional investors and market makers, but it is also accessible to retail traders. It offers several advantages over manual or discretionary approaches—particularly in minimizing psychological errors that often impact human traders. Some of the topics we usually discuss: \- Reasons for investing \- Limitations of being a retail trader \- Practical tools: brokers\, APIs\, data sources\, real\-time implementation \- Brainstorming ideas: strategies that may be working today **Note this even is not sponsored or endorsed by any business where we are meeting. We are just using their space for casual meetup event.** **Please no promotion of MLM, pyramid schemes, self promotion to paid services, affiliate promotion, paid subscriptions or similar stuff.** **Useful Links** * Notion page of [Algo Trading Resources](https://systemetic.notion.site/Algorithmic-Trading-Resources-fe400c5258e440fd8a4d63770d08bc13) **Telegram group for quicker communication:** [https://t.me/+m8BMRABGX74xNmZh](https://t.me/+m8BMRABGX74xNmZh) **Disclaimer:** This meetup is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be construed as professional financial advice. The General Burying Ground received Royal Assent in 1826 and land that came to be known as Potters Field was acquired and started operation soon afterwards. Over time, additional cemetery lands were added and in 1873, a new cemetery available to all citizens was established. The Moral Nature of Gestation & the Political Significance of Birth
The Moral Nature of Gestation & the Political Significance of Birth
Recent work in the metaphysics of pregnancy tells us that foetuses are best conceived as body parts which will transform into independent organisms after birth. This picture raises several philosophical questions. One question is whether birth is as morally or politically relevant as it is biologically relevant. Another relevant question is: what, exactly, is the status of foetuses before birth? Are they moral persons with rights? Are they citizens? Or are they merely morally consider-able — that is, appropriate subjects of moral concern? In this presentation, I will attempt to make progress on these difficult yet pressing questions. Luara Ferracioli https://www.sydney.edu.au/arts/about/our-people/academic-staff/luara-ferracioli.html Associate Professor Department of Philosophy University of Sydney **About the Speaker:** My main areas of interest are the ethics of immigration, citizenship, and the family, broadly conceived. Sometimes I bring these areas of interest together, as when I discuss the ethics of family migration schemes, and the value of citizenship for children. My first book, [Liberal Self-Determination in a World of Migration](https://global.oup.com/academic/product/liberal-self-determination-in-a-world-of-migration-9780190056070?cc=au&lang=en&#), was published in 2022 by Oxford University Press. My second book, [Parenting and the Goods of Childhood](https://global.oup.com/academic/product/parenting-and-the-goods-of-childhood-9780197612705?cc=au&lang=en&#), was published in 2023, also with OUP. It provides a new theory of what justice requires from parents, both adoptive and biological. My next book *The Future of Gestation: A Normative Inquiry* is under contract with OUP. **\* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \* \*** This is a talk with audience Q&A presented by the University of Toronto's Centre for Ethics that is free to attend and open to the public. About the Centre for Ethics (http://ethics.utoronto.ca): The Centre for Ethics is an interdisciplinary centre aimed at advancing research and teaching in the field of ethics, broadly defined. The Centre seeks to bring together the theoretical and practical knowledge of diverse scholars, students, public servants and social leaders in order to increase understanding of the ethical dimensions of individual, social, and political life. In pursuit of its interdisciplinary mission, the Centre fosters lines of inquiry such as (1) foundations of ethics, which encompasses the history of ethics and core concepts in the philosophical study of ethics; (2) ethics in action, which relates theory to practice in key domains of social life, including bioethics, business ethics, and ethics in the public sphere; and (3) ethics in translation, which draws upon the rich multiculturalism of the City of Toronto and addresses the ethics of multicultural societies, ethical discourse across religious and cultural boundaries, and the ethics of international society. AI Safety Thursday: Why Attackers Are Winning and What We Can Do About It
AI Safety Thursday: Why Attackers Are Winning and What We Can Do About It
***This is a paid event ($5 general admission, free for students & job seekers) with limited tickets - you must [RSVP on Luma](https://luma.com/a7s95e3y) to secure your spot.*** LLMs are shifting the cybersecurity balance—in favor of attackers. The barrier to sophisticated cyberattacks is dropping fast. What once required large teams and significant budgets can now be accomplished by smaller groups with moderate expertise. Personalized phishing campaigns that took weeks now take hours. Zero-day vulnerabilities that took a syndicate to detect are now discovered by independent actors. While these attacks still require technical knowledge, the pool of capable threat actors and scale of impact are rapidly expanding. While LLM-powered attacks are proliferating, but cutting-edge defenses are only accessible to well-resourced frontier labs—leaving most organizations exposed. [Diana Sarbakysh](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dissatay/) (Network Engineer, and alumni of first AI security bootcamp) will: * Introduce frameworks for evaluating emerging AI capabilities and institutional readiness (RAND framework) * Demonstrate the current state of AI-enabled threats and corporate reality check through real incidents * Provide concrete action paths: from bootcamps and independent study resources to research opportunities and corporate security initiatives This talk is a call to action for corporate practitioners, security professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in improving the state of defences at large. **Event Schedule** 6:00 to 6:30 - Food and introductions 6:30 to 7:30 - Presentation and Q&A 7:30 to 9:00 - Open Discussions If you can't make it in person, feel free to join the live stream starting at 6:30 pm, via [this link](https://www.youtube.com/@Trajectory-Labs/live).

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋 **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).

**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** GitHub Copilot is rapidly changing how developers write, understand, and maintain code. Powered by generative AI and deeply integrated into modern development environments, Copilot acts as an intelligent coding assistant, helping developers move faster while maintaining quality and focus. In this session, we’ll explore what GitHub Copilot is, how it works, and where it fits into a real-world developer workflow. We’ll break down what Copilot can (and cannot) do, where it can be used, and how licensing differs for individuals and organizations. Most importantly, this talk goes beyond theory with a live, hands-on demo showcasing Copilot inside the IDE and on GitHub, demonstrating how it can assist with code generation, refactoring, learning new APIs, and accelerating day-to-day development tasks. Designed for developers, technical leads, and engineering managers, this session provides a practical introduction to AI-assisted development, highlights best practices for getting value from Copilot, and closes with guidance on how to continue learning and evolving alongside this rapidly advancing tool. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how GitHub Copilot can enhance productivity, improve developer experience, and fit into modern software teams today, not someday. **YouTube Link** TBA
