Project Drasi
!!NEW LOCATION!! Datamonster Berlin - Janek Fellien: Projekt Drasi
... english version below
Liebe Datamonster und Freunde des gepflegten Datenstroms.
Alles neu macht 2026...

Dear data monsters and friends of well-crafted data streams,
Everything is new in 2026… and we’re starting the new year with a bang: from now on, we have a **new location**!
Our friends at b.telligent have kindly connected us with **Berlin Bytes**, who will be welcoming us from now on at their office in the Backfabrik in Prenzlauer Berg.
And of course, the first event at the new location calls for an outstanding speaker—and we’ve found one in Janek Fellien. His topic is the Drasi project.
Project Drasi is a very new open-source project from Microsoft that revisits the idea of Complex Event Processing. At its core, it is about detecting data changes in software systems and being able to react to them accordingly. In newly developed systems, this would typically be implemented using event sourcing or technical solutions built “from scratch.” But what about existing systems? How can changes be captured there—and, more importantly, why would you want to react to them?
In this talk, I want to demonstrate how Drasi can be used to embed or transform a monolithic legacy system into a microservices system.
You can join online via the following [link](https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/34859473575613?p=dZmKkYBDnMGEltFDhK), but of course we warmly recommend that you celebrate the inauguration of the new location for the Berlin Data Monsters with us in person.
Looking forward to it,
Markus & Ben
Board Game / Gesellschaftsspiel (Level B1 is recommended)
Hi,
this event we will be playing a board game called: Ein Wochenende in Berlin.
We will play the game together in GERMAN and I will moderate the game and support you when having difficulties unterstanding questions and correct your German throughout the game. The game is great fun as its about learning the German language and having questions related to Berlin as well :)
The game is for up to 5 Players. So we will be a small group. Even if there is only one person registering the event will take place:)
if we have time i will introduce to another german learning game called Ab in die Tüte.
looking forward to see you
For this game its recommended to only join if you have Level B1 or a very advanced Level of A2
Please note: At the boardgames cafe we are meeting every person has to pay 2,5 € per hour for the space they are offering. So calculate with an extra of 5 € (+ the registration fee for the event)
But coffee and drinks are quite cheap at the place :)

Talk & Play #54
**RSVP via Meetup is mandatory to attend the event, due to limited capacity.**
Talk & Play is a free event that provides the opportunity to game enthusiasts, players and makers to meet in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. Everybody's welcome, regardless of their background and knowledge level: if you've got any interest in games, we'll make sure you have a good time! This is NOT an event only aimed at developers.
The event series is funded by [Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg](https://www.medienboard.de/) and sponsored by [Happy Broccoli](https://www.happybroccoligames.com/), the Berlin indie game studio behind the Duck Detective series. A huge thank you to both for their support!
• • • • •
**HOW IT WORKS**
The event is made of 2 parts:
* TALK: Game-related presentations + announcements from the community
* PLAY: All participants are welcome to exhibit projects they've made
• • • • •
**AGENDA**
* **18:30** Doors open, project showcase starts
* **19:30 to 20:30** Talks & community announcements
* **22:00** Event ends

**THE TALK PART (PRESENTATIONS)**
**Sebastian Möring: Precarious Pixels. Artistic Computer Game Photographs as Media of Care**
Many artistic computer game photographs address the presence and absence of care. I would like to show in this talk that they themselves become describable as media of care. The notion of care offers a possibility to view the multitude of artistic in-game photographic works through the lens of one theme and thereby bring them into a coherent context.
*Sebastian Möring is a professor of game design at Macromedia University and a media and culture scholar with a PhD in game studies focusing on game aesthetics and philosophy, in-game photography, and green game studies.*

After the talk(s) there will be a section dedicated to short announcements from the community, get in touch to reserve a spot: info@berlingamescene.com — same goes if your company is hiring or wants to announce something and you'd like to get a sponsored slot!

**ADDITIONAL INFO**
Since restarting the event in 2023 we have asked attendees to wear a face mask. This requirement feels incredibly anachronistic these days so at the end of 2025 we decided to drop the requirement. That being said, **we ask everyone showing any signs of illness to be considerate and refrain from attending the event**. FFP2 masks will continue to be available at the door and we support anyone who feels like wearing one to protect themselves and others 💜
Are you attending the event for the first time, or are you coming on your own? The Talk & Play Ambassadors will be there to assist and answers any questions you have.
Our Safe Space Policy http://berlingamescene.com/safe-space-policy/ encourages the behaviour at Talk & Play. We request that everyone who is affiliated with and participates to the event honours it.
Our event is documented by Julian Dasgupta https://www.flickr.com/photos/12601747@N00/albums — for those who don’t want to be appear in any pictures, we're going to distribute stickers at the door to wear and signal this.

Philosophy Discussion Meetup – Exploring Life’s Big Questions Through Books
Join us for an open and friendly philosophy meetup where we explore life’s deepest questions through thoughtful conversation, shared reading, and discussion.
Each participant is welcome to bring a book they are currently reading and share interesting ideas or questions from it. One of our main reference books is Sophie's World, which we often use as a starting point for discussion.
🗓 What to Expect
Each meeting follows a relaxed and engaging format:
Welcome & Introductions (10 minutes)
Brief introductions and sharing what everyone is reading.
Book & Topic Sharing (20 minutes)
Participants present a short passage, idea, or question from their book.
Group Discussion (45–60 minutes)
Open discussion based on the shared material, often inspired by Sophie's World and related philosophical themes.
Wrap-Up & Social Time (15 minutes)
Final reflections and informal conversation.
No prior philosophy background is required—curiosity and openness are enough.
🎒 What to Bring
Please bring:
A book you are currently reading (optional but encouraged)
One or two questions or ideas from your book
A notebook and pen (optional)
If you don’t have a book, you are still very welcome to join and participate.
📍 How to Find Us
We meet at:
Milchkaffee
Kirchstraße 5, 12555, · Berlin, DE
Look for a group with books and notebooks on the table
Please arrive at least at max 15 min late. The Café will take the empty seats of our table after that. So if you arrive after that, you might not have a place to sit.
🤝 Group Values
Respectful and open discussion
No judging or “winning” arguments
Everyone gets a chance to speak
Different viewpoints are welcome
Curiosity over certainty
Whether you are new to philosophy or a long-time reader, this group offers a supportive space to think together and learn from one another.
We look forward to reading, questioning, and reflecting with you.
Agentic Deployment & Flink’s Data Platform Ecosystem | Data Engineering Meetup
Let’s kick things off for another Meetup, this time focusing on Agentic Deployment and Flink’s Data Platform Ecosystem.
Join us on February 26th in Berlin and bring all your questions! : )
**Pawel Wiszniewski: *"From Ingestion to Insight: Flink’s Data Platform Ecosystem"***
[Pawel Wiszniewski](https://www.linkedin.com/in/pawel-wiszniewski/) is a Senior Data Engineer at[ Flink](https://www.goflink.com/shop/de-DE/deals/?campaignid=23008119587&adgroupid=190905032608&creative=676430819949&utm_source=google&utm_medium=search&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23008119587&gbraid=0AAAAABiSYNQr0V_xYSzvjjStCH6G-hLqP&gclid=CjwKCAiAkbbMBhB2EiwANbxtbQ-a9DxijUVV0nw5nXTXr037lYGiy6MIv5YbFjeo1qsZJStEPdBNxxoCPFQQAvD_BwE) and a well-known face at our Data Engineering Meetups. We're super excited to see our guest now stepping into the presenter's role.
About his keynote: "You have data, analysts, and business use cases. But you can't simply stitch them together with spreadsheets, SQL queries, and Python scripts and still expect business users to trust the dashboards. To ensure data quality, reliability, security and freshness, you need a well organised set of tools and processes: a Data Platform. In this presentation, I will explain how the Data Platform at Flink was built, outline its high-level architecture, and describe the key products, tools, and processes that enable us to operate over a thousand data models and maintain full visibility into the current state of the business."
**Sneha Nafade: *"AI Agents & Agentic Deployment"***

**What is AI Freedom Alliance?**
AI Freedom Alliance promotes the responsible growth of AI guided by practical, commonsense ethics. Our nonprofit is built by
professionals from a wide range of industries and is made up entirely of small- and mediumbusiness representatives—never large tech companies. We provide a counterbalance to big corporate influence, focusing instead on how AI can benefit businesses and the world at large.
**What’s Happening?**
***The inaugural AI Freedom Alliance Summit.***
This full-day event will explore how we can ensure AI is adopted responsibly through shared ethical standards that empower
humanity. The summit will feature interactive and educational sessions led by thought leaders, technologists, policymakers, and advocates who are passionate about making AI fair, transparent, and beneficial for everyone.
**Why Attend?**

**Abstract**
*Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation*
Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification.
You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written.
This talk will cover:
--What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t)
--How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows
--Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development
--Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence
Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects.
