Brushy Creek Regional Trail
Brushy Creek Regional Trail
Let's hike Brushy Creek Park Trail and walk for 1.75 hours for a total of 4.5 miles. This trail is paved so you don't need any hiking boots, but be sure to bring two or more liters of water and a flashlight. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the trail. Here is some more info on the trail located below: https://www.wilcotx.gov/1288/Brushy-Creek-Regional-Trail https://www.wilcotx.gov/1293/Twin-Lakes-Park If you need to contact me, my phone number is 281-876-7746. We will meet at the pavilion in the parking lot and I will attach a picture. NOTE: In the event of bad weather, I will issue a cancellation notice at least one hour prior to the event's start time. Please note meetup has had a massive increase in price and has nearly doubled the fee to organize clubs. If you like the club and want to donate you can pay Kevin by Venmo [here](https://venmo.com/u/Kevin-Coe-9). Finally, we recommend that you review information on the trail and that you come prepared for the hike (e.g., bring at least two liters of water, wear appropriate footwear, and a brimmed hat.) All attendees are solely responsible for their own health and safety. By RSVPing for this event, you are agreeing that you are taking sole responsibility for your own health and safety and, if any, your guests' health and safety. If you or your guests are not willing or are unable to take responsibility for your own health and safety, do not RSVP for this event.

AI RAG on K8s with NVIDIA & Modernizing a Policy Platform
AI RAG on K8s with NVIDIA & Modernizing a Policy Platform
**March 26th at 6 pm at the Station Austin (formerly known as Capital Factory)** 701 Brazos Street, 1st Floor, Apollo Room Austin, 78701 Schedule: 6:00-6:30 - Food+Social 6:30-7:15 - **AI RAG Agent on K8s w/ NVIDIA GPU** **(Geoff Niehaus)** 7:20-8:00 - **From Legacy to Cloud-Native: Modernizing a Policy Platform on Kubernetes at Enterprise Scale (Joyjit Roy & Samaresh Kumar Singh)** ### **We know parking in Downtown is tricky!** **So, you can park in the building garage for just $8.00 (validation parking tickets will be distributed)!** Street parking will still be an option. More information on parking here: [https://www.capitalfactory.com/parking/](https://www.capitalfactory.com/parking/) ### Please RSVP [here](https://community.cncf.io/e/mme4rt/), and please make sure you follow our official social media platforms and stay tuned for the latest news about Kubernetes Austin: https://linkedin.com/company/k8sAustin https://instagram.com/k8sAustin https://x.com/k8sAustin Everyone is invited to join! We hope to bring the latest news about the Kubernetes and CNCF projects. **Descriptions** **AI RAG Agent on K8s with NVIDIA GPU** What if you could run your own AI infrastructure for a fraction of what cloud APIs cost? This session explores the journey of building a production-grade AI-powered chatbot from the ground up on your own hardware, on your own terms. We'll walk through the key decisions and tradeoffs involved in standing up a modern AI platform: choosing and serving large language models, implementing retrieval-augmented generation for grounded responses, orchestrating intelligent agents that can reason and use tools, and wiring it all together with a responsive streaming interface. Along the way, we'll tackle the infrastructure challenges that come with running AI at the edge — GPU scheduling, persistent storage, service mesh networking container orchestration, and CI/CD automation. You'll see how open-source CNCF projects can be composed into a cohesive platform that rivals managed cloud offerings. We'll also break down the economics with real cost comparisons between self-hosted inference and commercial API pricing, demonstrating where the crossover points are and when it makes sense to bring AI workloads in-house. Whether you're a platform engineer curious about AI infrastructure, a developer looking to move beyond API wrappers, or a leader evaluating the build-vs-buy decision for your organization. This talk will give you a practical roadmap and the confidence to start building. **Legacy to Cloud-Native: Modernizing a Policy Platform on K8s** This session shares lessons from modernizing a large, regulated enterprise platform from a legacy, tightly coupled architecture to a Kubernetes-based cloud-native environment. The journey involved decomposing monolithic services, introducing containerized workloads, and establishing a platform foundation that balanced developer autonomy with enterprise governance, security controls, and audit requirements. We will cover practical design decisions around cluster architecture, workload isolation, CI/CD standardization, policy enforcement, and observability at scale. The talk also discusses what did not work, including early assumptions about service boundaries, release coordination across multiple teams, and friction with platform adoption. From a business perspective, the modernization enabled faster release cycles, improved platform reliability, better resource utilization, and reduced operational risk in a compliance-heavy domain. Attendees will gain concrete patterns, architectural tradeoffs, and operational lessons they can apply when modernizing critical enterprise systems on Kubernetes. More information: k8saustin.com

From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively. This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way. **YouTube Link** TBA
In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
**Complex Trauma Support Group** Our group is intended for survivors of complex trauma. If you are here, it’s likely that so much of who you are and what you have experienced in this life is actually invisible to most people––to family, society, coworkers, and the people who are around you. We are a peer-led group of survivors creating opportunities for ourselves and others to share our experiences, share support, and build relationships in kind community together. Survivor experiences might include: child sexual abuse, incest, child trafficking, and other experiences of people living with traumatic dissociation and complex PTSD. **What to expect at your first meeting:** Currently, we are offering a bi-monthly in person group at 2:00pm on the first and third Sunday of the month. The only criterion for joining the group is that you are a survivor of trauma wishing to have more kindness in your own life and share kindness with others, and that you agree to practice to group’s relational agreements available for view here: https://www.kindgroups.com/agreements. Joining the group is free of charge. We ask that new people connect with us for 30 minutes on the phone or on zoom before coming to their first group, so that we can determine together that we are a good fit. Our meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Participants are never required to share. You’re also welcome to choose a pseudonym and you will never be asked for private information. You are welcome to leave at any time. The kindness that survivors can share when among others who have survived similar childhood experiences is something we rarely get to experience. Time spent with others who understand even a little bit more about us is a relief. Our hope is to help ourselves and others experience that we are not alone. We wish for our efforts to be a cause of kindness in our own lives and the lives of each other. You can read more about the groups at www.kindgroups.com.
How LLMs Like ChatGPT Actually Work and How to Build With Them
How LLMs Like ChatGPT Actually Work and How to Build With Them
**First meetup of the Columbus AI Engineering group.** We’ll kick things off with a practical, beginner-friendly discussion on: **How LLMs like ChatGPT actually work — and how to build real applications with them.** We’ll cover: * what’s actually happening under the hood (at a high level) * why LLMs behave the way they do (hallucinations, prompt sensitivity, etc.) * how people are building real systems with them today * where things break in practice This will be a **short, informal talk (\~15–20 min)** followed by open discussion and Q&A. Whether you’re an engineer, builder, or just curious about how modern AI systems work, you’re welcome to join. No slides, no fluff — just real conversation about real systems. We’ll hang out afterward and get to know each other.

Long Form Night - Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Long Form Night - Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games! Tonight's a special one; this is "Long form" night! Most nights here at Improv Meetup, we play "short form" games, where the host has established rules that the players must adhere to. These scenes frequently do not tell a connected story and are focused on following those rules; games such as "Alphabet Game" where every next sentence needs to start with the next letter of the alphabet, or "Interrogation" where it's a guessing game. Tonight is focused on "long form", where we will see groups of people come up and do a sort of improvised play. There may be rules to the structure itself to adhere to, or it may be more free form, but doing this allows players to establish a shared world, and to establish characters and callbacks. While your average game may last 2-3 minutes, a long form set will last much longer, and have 4+ people involved. This may be a more complicated night, but we will make sure you feel supported to try this out. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime! Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!
