Dinner & Life: Good food, good people
Dinner & Life: Good food, good people
Let’s meet for dinner and simply talk about life. This meetup is about slowing down after a long day, enjoying a simple, good meal together, and having relaxed, meaningful conversations. We can share stories, experiences, thoughts about life, or just chat about anything that comes to mind. Everyone comes from a different journey, and sometimes it’s really nice to sit down with a few friendly people, listen, laugh, and connect. This is not a networking event — just a casual dinner with people who enjoy genuine conversations and meeting new friends. Come with a friendly spirit and let’s enjoy a simple evening together. Sometimes friendships begin over the most ordinary dinners. 🍲😊

STACK Meetup [Platforms]: Explore the Evolving Landscape of Workflow Executions
**ANNOUNCEMENT – Registration via this [link](https://go.gov.sg/stackmeetup-12mar2026-mc) only.** * Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. * For admission into our event space, please register beforehand via GovEntry only. * Please present the QR code within your registration confirmation email upon check-in at our event space. **About this Meetup** Join us for a discussion exploring the evolving landscape of durable workflow executions in modern systems. As applications become increasingly distributed, durable execution has emerged as a critical paradigm for building resilient systems that survive failures whilst maintaining complete execution state. This session examines why durable execution is essential for modern architectures from multi-step processes spanning multiple services to long-running operations requiring distributed coordination. We'll explore real-world applications and human-in-the-loop processes that traditional patterns cannot handle reliably. The discussion covers challenges and learnings from building automation tools in GovTech, examining how durable execution solves common distributed systems problems like state management, fault tolerance, and observability. We'll delve into design principles that make workflows resilient by default and automatically handling retries. Whether you're evaluating tools like Temporal, Cadence, or others, this conversation offers practical insights into implementation strategies, use cases, and pitfalls to avoid. **[Learn with us today](https://go.gov.sg/stackmeetup-12mar2026-mc)**! **Programme** 7:00pm: Introduction By STACK Community 7:05pm: Opening By Steven Koh, Director, Engineering Management, Government Digital Products (GDP), GovTech Singapore 7:15pm: Building Opus: Delivering Durable Workflow Execution for Government Systems By Gabriel Tay, Staff Software Engineer, GDP, GovTech Singapore 7:35pm: Temporal Primitives to Real-World Design By Tao Guo, Staff Solutions Architect, Temporal.io 7:55pm: Real Application Use Case of Subscription Workflows Through TechBiz By Yong Weng Kiat, Software Engineer, GDP, GovTech Singapore 8:15pm: Q&A 8:30pm: End of STACK Meetup Click **[here](https://go.gov.sg/stackmeetup-12mar2026-mc)\*** to sign up! \*Registration will be accepted via GovEntry only.

AI Builders Co-work + The Stage: The Opportunity in Being Human in the age of AI
AI Builders Co-work + The Stage: The Opportunity in Being Human in the age of AI
**Friday is our open co-working day.** People come to work on their own projects, take breaks together, and usually stay through the afternoon. It’s quiet, focused, and builder- and founder-led. You can arrive anytime from 10AM. Most people show up after lunch and settle in before 1.30pm. Bring your laptop. Grab any open seat. Stay as long as you like. At 1.30pm, we pause work briefly for a shared session called The Stage, then everyone goes back to working. This is how Fridays here work. **The Stage @ 1.30PM** *The Stage is a short, open-format session where builders and founders share something they are actively working on. A workflow, a technical breakdown, a lesson learned, or just a topic keeping him/her up at night.* *The goal is to spark ideas you can try immediately after, during the same afternoon. After the session ends, most people simply open their laptops again and continue working.* *Interested to speak? Express interest here: [form here](https://sq-collective.notion.site/2a1aae2f95ae80e38156eaecfc9eb885?pvs=105)* **Topic: The Opportunity in Being Human** **Speaker: Russell Huang** Russell Huang is trying to understand what a founder is so he can call himself one. After a life in investigating geopolitical power dynamics, emergent risks in human-factor cybersecurity, and litigation intelligence advisory for high-stakes fraud, he can't help but ask a more interesting question: if AI can actually do good for the world. He's working on Project Ujong — currently an experiment in understanding if and how LLMs can drive togetherness, with the hope of reimagining how people live, connect and discover in Singapore. You still have no idea who Russell is after reading this. This session is not about frameworks, customer acquisition or showcasing AI applications. It will be a candid sharing of what it means to know a person, and how AI could be used to highlight the human traits that matter in an age of agents, dehumanisation and ennui. **Takeaway:** Hope, and a new perspective on AI's potential to reimagine experience altogether. After the session, we go back to work.

MindHub x Founder: From employee to founder - when, what holds us back?
MindHub x Founder: From employee to founder - when, what holds us back?
Hi, my name is Benedikt. I organize MindHub events in Munich, Germany. I’m currently visiting Singapore and spontaneously decided to bring MindHub here and host a small meetup while I’m in town. I’m curious to learn how entrepreneurship and building projects might feel different in Singapore compared to Germany, and I’m looking forward to meeting you. MindHub is a global community-driven meetup for people interested in **entrepreneurship, design, technology, and building things together**. This is **not a talk, not a panel, and not a pitch event**. It’s a **Focused Session** centered around real conversations, shared experiences, and peer learning. **Theme of this edition:** 👉 From employee to founder: when is the right time — and what holds us back (consciously or unconsciously)? We’ll explore questions like: * How do we know when we’re “ready enough” — or does that moment ever really exist? * Which fears, doubts, or external factors slow us down the most? * Which risks are real, and which ones mostly live in our heads? Whether you’re: * currently employed but thinking about starting something * already working on a side project * in the middle of a transition * or have made the jump before — you’re very welcome to join. **How the session works** We’ll keep things simple and human: 🔹 **Part 1 – Themed Group Discussion** A lightly structured exchange around the topic, grounded in personal experiences rather than theory. 🔹 **Part 2 – Open Conversation & Connection** More free-flowing discussion, peer exchange, and informal networking around the table. No slides. No lectures. No pressure to perform. **What this space is for** * Connecting with real builders and curious minds * Sharing real challenges (not just polished success stories) * Exchanging practical insights, experiences, and perspectives Listening is just as welcome as sharing. **Who this is for** Anyone interested in ideas, projects, and personal or professional growth — from first-time explorers to experienced builders. Both newcomers and returning MindHub members are very welcome. **About MindHub** MindHub is a **community-led initiative** exploring new ways of learning, collaborating, and building together. It’s experimental, open, and shaped by the people who show up. Each city operates locally, aligned with a shared vision of **accessible, peer-driven community events**. **Practical info** 📍 Location: [Project Dignity Singapore](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Project+Dignity+Singapore/@1.3171975,103.8624647,21z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x31da17e35c6a3c7b:0xd278d9950345ee69!8m2!3d1.3171941!4d103.8625373!16s%2Fg%2F1ptymrlz9?authuser=0&hl=de&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDMwOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) 🕒 Duration: \~2 hours 💸 Free / pay for your own food/drinks 👉 **Note:** The number of available spots on Meetup is only a guideline. There are often last-minute cancellations, and we have room for more than 10 people — feel free to come by and bring anyone you like 🙂 If you’ve joined before — welcome back. If it’s your first time — you’ll fit right in. Let’s keep building together.

Practical Philosophy Meetup - Singapore 🇸🇬
Practical Philosophy Meetup - Singapore 🇸🇬
🏛️ **WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?** Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎 Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic. The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌 📓 **HOW DOES IT WORK?** Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Hg7zL8ClpzM3agJCvw5HDS), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going. When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture. **General Meeting Agenda** Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline: * 19:00-19:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start. * 19:15-19:25 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines. * 19:25-20:45 - Break into small groups - introduce yourselves and general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them. * 20:45-21:00 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions of the topic - each group gives a short 1-minute summary. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo. * 21:00 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other. **🧧PRICING?** Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! We just ask that if we are meeting in a café, buy a beverage! Some chapters rent a space for us to meet, and they may ask for donations to help contribute to the cost of rent. Donations will always be 100% voluntary though! 💛 WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY 🗣 “I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wrong” - Ekam 🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.” - Daniel **🤓 FAQ** * What will we talk about? What's the topic? The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you don’t see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Hg7zL8ClpzM3agJCvw5HDS). * Do I need to study or read anything to attend? No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required. * Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on? The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school. * Is it mostly men that attend? Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms. * Can I come alone? Of course you can, we encourage it :) * Can I be late? Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation. * Where do you meet? The location is posted in Meetup and our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Hg7zL8ClpzM3agJCvw5HDS) group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/practical-philosophy-locations/). **PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY - Making Philosophy Available To All.** ✨ Practical Philosophy hosts weekly, in-person meetups in over 20 countries, including Canada, Spain, Japan, Mexico and many more! 🗺️ \*\*\* Join our [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Hg7zL8ClpzM3agJCvw5HDS) 👈 Follow us on [Instagram](www.instagram.com/practicalphilosophyclub/) 👈 Our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/) 👈

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. Free at Bexley Library- Adventures in Ecological Horticulture

Free at Bexley Library- Adventures in Ecological Horticulture w Rebecca McMackin
Free at Bexley Library Adventures in Ecological Horticulture with Rebecca McMackin Wednesday, March 18 1:00pm - 2:30pm Gone are the days when a garden could be ornamental alone. We now recognize the impact that our land care practices have on the ecosystems around us, and can see the importance of encouraging biodiversity. Thankfully, we do not need to sacrifice beauty when we invite butterflies and songbirds into our gardens. Rebecca McMackin has cultivated gorgeous landscapes in the toughest environments possible: urban parks, school playgrounds, and the sidewalks of New York City. She will take lessons from her work at Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Museum, and decades of research to share how those of us who are fortunate enough to care for land, can do it beautifully and ecologically. Rebecca McMackin is an ecologically obsessed horticulturist and garden designer. She writes, lectures, and teaches on ecological landscape management and pollination ecology, as well as designs the rare public garden. She is currently Lead Horticulturist for the American Horticultural Society, an Associate with the Harvard Divinity School’s Thinking with Plants and Fungi Initiative, and Consulting Arboretum Curator for Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY. Rebecca spent a decade as Director of Horticulture of Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she managed 85 acres of diverse parkland organically. Their research into cultivating urban biodiversity and ethical management strategies has influenced thousands of people and entire urban parks systems to adopt similar approaches. She has been published by and featured in the New York Times, Gardens Illustrated, on NPR and PBS. Her garden for the Brooklyn Museum recently won the PPA’s Award of Excellence and her TED Talk has been viewed over a million times. She holds M.Sc. from Columbia University and University of Victoria in landscape design and biology and recently completed the Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. This program is presented in partnership with Rooted in Bexley and generously funded by the Bexley Community Foundation and Bexley Community Author Series Fund.

Dinner & a Movie: PROJECT HAIL MARY at Marcus Pickerington!
Join us as we get together to see Ryan Gosling and Sandra Huller in the highly anticipated sci-fi adventure, PROJECT HAIL MARY! The film is based on the best-selling novel of The Martian and follows a man who awakens on a spacecraft before realizing his mission to save Earth. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission to save the Earth. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest), Lionel Boyce, Milana Vayntrub and Ken Leung. The film is earning a 95% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics call it an “old school blockbuster crowd-pleaser” and “a new sci-fi classic!” It’s “deeply hopeful,” well-acted,” funny,” “dramatic,” and “exceptionally rousing throughout!” Others call it “something truly magical” and one that “we’ll be talking about this one for decades to come!” And I believe Slashfilm says it best: “It will lift up and squeeze your heart, crack you up with laughter, and give you a sense of hope and wonder in a way that few movies have been able to inspire.” MOVIE PLAN: Please purchase your ticket for the 2:30pm SuperScreen DLX showing and meet in the lobby area between 2:05 and 2:15pm! Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat.
