Mark Reese / Moshe Feldenkrais -- a Life In Movement 101 /
[https://youtu.be/FwAOl8scoJY](https://youtu.be/FwAOl8scoJY)
V. 2022 09 27
I attended 2018 CCSF Fledenkrais course with a VERY VERY SWEET instructor,
Through her introduction, I learned there was a person called Moshe Fledenkrais.
I'd like to learn more about Moshe Fledenkrais, thus I started to do TextQuilting with his biography,
The title was A Life In Movement, Moshe Feldenkrais,
I'm on chapter 5 now, total is 8 chapters,
I just REREAD AGAIN yesterday, then I realized that he passed away in 1984,
yet this book was FIRST PUBLISHED in 2015,
2015!!!!
31 years AFTER HE PASSED AWAY,
The book was mostly written by Mark Reese,
Moshe Feldenkrais's student he encountered in 1975,
when Moshe came to set up an USA branch in San Francisco.
Mark Reese is a San Franciscan.
However, the book was published through an intensive editing work by Mark Reese's 2nd wife and his high school classmate that they had endured a 35+ years friendship.
because Mark Reese died at his 50's, not long after he started to do the writing job.
Thus I was totally shocked, (in an amazed and in awe way) learned that this book was completed by TONS of LOVE, CARE and DEDICATION,
the unrelenting DETERMINATION to make the quasi 600 pages of words in print.
Since I'm not really an English reader, for that I immigrated to USA when I was well over 30 years old,
when I arrived, I barely spoke a word in English other than YES and NO.
thus I progress slowly,
Do you think you'd be happy to STUDY together, help me and learn from each other for the Feldenkrais Method?
Certainly, the ULTIMATE GOAL is how to apply the physical movements into daily movements, so that we (at least I), can feel NOT SO FRAGILE at every single foot step as how I lead my current life now.
In another word, BECOMING OLD and OLDER with GRACE.
Dio ti benedica, Da Chiesa di Vissi D'Arte
PS: due to personal injury, I mainly stay on emails or park paths in McLaren Park, rather than phone chatting.

Closing The Book On god 📖
Come join us for a grand discussion on the failure of the arguments for god.
Let’s spend a Saturday afternoon for some in depth conversations regarding counter apologetics, philosophy, science, and the bible. Let’s shine a light on the epistemological dishonesty lurking within fundamentalist apologia and tactics while examining methods of effective communication.
Bring your knowledge and experiences, bring your favorite books, podcasts, videos and websites. Come to teach, come to learn or just come to listen and let’s write the last chapter on god.

\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- ATHEISM vs CREATIONISM in a nutshell \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
“In the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth.”
\~ vs.
"In the beginning"... there was a quantum event which, in a microsecond, erupted into a Quark-Gluon plasma, creating the first matter of our universe. As this plasma expanded it coalesced into hadrons and protons then the forces of nature began to separate and atoms were formed into great clouds of hydrogen and helium that began to condense and rotate under their own gravity. Theses clouds became the first generation of stars and under the sheer magnitude of their masses, these giants erupted into supernovas creating new generations of clouds of heavier elements which again coalesced under gravity and... "created the heavens and the earth".
Saying god did it is so uninspired, so bland and vacant. The majesty and awe of the knowledge and understanding we have of the universe has emerged, not from the bible, not from god, but from the genius of humanity. In the very last moments of the 4 and a half billion year history of earth, humans have evolved... “ and for the last 100,000 years, we have looked up into that night sky and wondered at those awesome points of light, what are they, where did they come from... We are the first people in that long history not to wonder... not to guess... but to know... "

Live-Reading Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics – North American Style
Let's try something new. For the next dozen weeks or so, starting 4/17/2022, we are going to live-read and discuss Aristotle's \~*Nicomachean Ethics*\~. What is new and different about this project is that the translation, by Adam Beresford (2020), happens to be rendered in standard 'Murican English.
.
From the translator's "Note" on the text:
.
"This translation is conservative in interpretation and traditional in aim. It aims to translate the text as accurately as possible.
.
"I translated every page from scratch, from a clean Greek text, rather than revising an existing translation. ... I wanted to avoid the scholars’ dialect that is traditionally used for translating Aristotle.
...
"I reject the approach of Arthur Adkins, Elizabeth Anscombe, and others who followed Nietzsche in supposing that the main elements of modern thinking about right and wrong were unknown to the Greeks, or known to them only in some radically different form. My view of humanity and of our shared moral instincts is shaped by a newer paradigm. This is a post-Darwinian translation. (It is also more in line with the older, both Aristotelian and Christian view of human character.)
.
"Having said that, I have no interest at all in modernizing Aristotle’s ideas. All the attitudes of this treatise remain fully Greek, very patriarchal, somewhat aristocratic, and firmly embedded in the fourth century BC. My choice of dialect (standard English) has no bearing on that whatsoever. (It is perfectly possible to express distinctively Greek and ancient attitudes in standard English.) ... I have also not simplified the text in any way. I have translated every iota, particle, preposition, noun, verb, adjective, phrase, clause, and sentence of the original. Every premise and every argument therefore remains – unfortunately – exactly as complex and annoyingly difficult as in any other version in whatever dialect.
...
"Some scholars and students unwarily assume that the traditional dialect has a special connection with Greek and that using it brings readers closer to the original text; and that it makes the translation more accurate. In reality, it has no special tie to the Greek language, either in its main philosophical glossary or in its dozens of minor (and pointless) deviations from normal English. And in my view it certainly makes any translation much less accurate.
.
"I will occasionally refer to the scholars’ dialect (‘Gringlish’) and its traditional glossary in the Notes."
.
.
Here is our plan:
1\. Read Intro excerpts or a summary to gain the big picture\.
2\. Read a segment of the translated text\.
3\. Discuss it analytically and interpretively\.
4\. Repeat again at \#2 for several more times\.
5\. Discuss the segments evaluatively\.
.
.
Zoom is the project's current meeting platform, but that can change. The project's cloud drive is [here](https://mega.nz/folder/vqJCXIQJ#muxiUXMHhfljvxKnWaOxZA), at which you'll find the reading texts, notes, and slideshows.

We start and end with a meeting of the whole, the Fresh Thought Hunt itself will take place in groups of 3 through the magic of computer science. RSVP here now to make sure we save a seat for you.
'
The NEW IDEA Circle is free and open to anyone and everyone who is starting something new, a new business prior to the first sale, or an established business or an individual who wants to start in a new direction. The only requirement is a clear statement of what you want the Fresh Thought Hunt to focus on for you.
The first 10-minutes of each NEW IDEA Circle will be recorded and will be posted on our YouTube Channel for SBCC that has been inactive from it's founding long ago. (On YouTube search for Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc. or via Facebook/SmallBizChamber.)
We encourage each of our SBCC fellow members to join us at a Socrates Cafe Online, Fridays, Saturdays, 1st Sundays, and Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. Denver time, 8:30 p.m. Eastern, 5:30 p.m. Pacific, suggest the topic of startup or whatever topic might help you the most, and to eventually form a similar Socrates Cafe and New IDEA Cafe in your local library, coffee shop, or other public meeting place with the sponsorship of one of your local chambers of commerce and your local community newspaper. For more see our Facebook Page via www.SmallBizChamber.org and "Visit Group" to join while it's still free.
Once you have started a Socrates Cafe or a NEW IDEA Circle, you will be invited to JOIN OUR NEW SBCC WREN COLLEGE and a FACULTY PEER GROUP, see https://WrenCollege.org for online application for being a faculty member and a student, and to request help starting your new Socrates Cafe. Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

...and speaking of breakthrough roles: who can forget the first time we saw Tom Cruise singing Bob Seeger in his underwear? Often considered an updated 1983 version of The Graduate, the movie sparkles with memorable lines and original music. Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
**The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception**
Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory.
For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy.
She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps).
Ultimately, this talk focuses on the intersection of art and science—using data to inform creativity and build a brand that resonates with customers in a measurable way.
**About Our Speaker**
Sara Kear is Chief Marketing Officer at Condado Tacos, where she oversees brand, restaurant design, menu and pricing strategy, off-premise including catering, and customer data strategy. Since joining in 2021, she has helped grow the brand from 19 to 52 locations while building a data-driven marketing organization focused on loyalty and customer insights. Condado has since been named to the Inc. 5000, recognized as Breakout Retailer by Chain Store Age, and consistently ranked among FastCasual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers.

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations.
If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!).
**HOW IT WORKS**
**Step 1: Bring a topic**
Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event.
**Step 2: Circle up & share**
We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds.
**Step 3: Walk, talk & float**
We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"
**Step 4: Feel more alive**
Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times.
*For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)*
**HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC**
A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.
Recent topics include:
* "What are you passionate about right now?"
* "What makes a good friend?"
* "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?"
* "How do you want to be remembered?"
* "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?"
Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here.
**FAQ**
* Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk!
* We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space.
* We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space.
* Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know.
* Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic!
**LOGISTICS**
* If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event.
* This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs.
* Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details.
* If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋
**IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...**
[The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up.
* This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).
Arthouse Friday: THE DRAMA at the Drexel Theatre!
Join us as we get together for an Arthouse Movie Friday event to see the A24 dark comedy /romance / psychological-thriller, THE DRAMA! The film stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a happily engaged couple whose relationship is challenged when one discovers unsettling truths about the other. Here are details, a trailer and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: The film follows a happily engaged couple whose relationship is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. The film comes from A24, is written/directed by Kristoffer Borgli stars Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates and Zoë Winters.
ZENDAYA-PATTINSON TRIFECTA CHALLENGE: Robert Pattinson and Zendaya will star in THREE movies together this year, including THE DRAMA, Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY this Summer and Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE: PART THREE at Christmas!
TRAILER: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmKcUa4Xxk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmKcUa4Xxk)
BUZZ & REVIEWS: Overall some solid early reviews but this one seems to be a bit polarizing! We’ll have to see for ourselves. Those in the “loved it” camp say is not the rom-com the trailers would have you to believe! Instead, a twisty darkly comedic drama that’s “anchored by two compelling performances,” “an original idea, great cast, and a movie that’s gonna have people talking at the end of it!”
PLAN: A slightly later showtime so we’ll go with dinner before the show this time. Here’s the plan: For dinner before the movie, meet at nearby BRASSICA between 5:45 and 6:00pm. Go through the line, and we’ll try to snag as many of the high-top tables as we can. For the movie, please purchase your ticket for the 7:30pm showing and we’ll meet in the lobby area between 7:00 and 7:15pm. I’ll be with the dinner group and will try to get there as close to 7pm as possible. Advance ticket purchase not required for this theater. When you purchase yours at counter, be sure to mention you’re with the Movie Group for admission and concession discounts.
Take care and look forward to seeing you there, Dan
