30th DevOps & AI Latvia meetup on February 24
Join Latvia DevOps & AI Communities 30th event on February 24th at [Workland](https://wrkland.com/lv/locations/riga-telegraph). Doors open at 18:30, talks start at 19:00.
✨[Eriks Klotins](https://www.linkedin.com/in/eriksklotins/). Eriks is an engineer and researcher affiliated with Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden. He leads industry–academia collaboration projects with some very well-known global companies to improve their software delivery practices.
**Talk name:** *Towards Continuous Everything*. In his talk, he will share insights and lessons learned about how organisations adopt continuous engineering, from planning to systematic collection and analysis of user feedback. He will share anecdotes, common pitfalls, solutions, and practical steps for any organisation to improve its software delivery. The talk is targeted at senior engineers, process leaders, and other decision-makers influencing software delivery.
✨[Mārtiņš Meļķis](https://www.linkedin.com/in/melkis/). Mārtiņš is a product leader and thinking partner drawn to moments of identity shift — when the old way no longer works, but the new one isn’t clear yet. As a systemic coach, he helps people debug their thinking, regain orientation, and reconnect with what actually matters.
**Talk name:** *Strong, Silent, Lost: What It Means to Be a Man Today?*.
For generations, being a man came with a clear script: be strong, provide, don’t complain, keep going. Today, that script is breaking.
Many men find themselves caught between expectations they no longer fully believe in and a future they don’t yet understand — strong, but lonely; successful, but disconnected; capable, but unsure who they are without their roles.
This talk offers a sharp and honest look at why so many men feel fully operational — but strangely off-mission.
We will also have a **Lightning Talk** by:
**Maris** and **Kalvis** from **[KALMARS](https://kalmars.lv/)**. Vibe-coding is becoming more popular every day. In this 10-minute session, Maris and Kalvis will talk about common issues and challenges in developing SaaS products, with a focus on the risks and limitations of relying purely on AI when building production-ready solutions. Debug, monitor, Protect your solution with [HoloKRAKEN](http://holokraken.com/) ! We are inviting you to join early beta.
This time, the event is sponsored by:
* [Workland Telegraph](https://wrkland.com/lv/locations/riga-telegraph) as Event Partner
Inspiring private offices and coworking spaces that support your productivity & creativity.
**If your plans change**, please cancel your registration to free up your spot for others.
Also, check out our Slack channel [Techies of Baltics](https://devops.lv/slack/).
As always, you are welcome to check out [our YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKXmynfBPE9um6sMqFmlEEA), where we have previous meetup video recordings available.
Your presence and active participation make our community vibrant and inspiring. To secure your spot, RSVP on our [Meetup.com](https://www.meetup.com/devops-and-ai-latvia/events/313321681/) page.

Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake

You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
*Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation*
Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification.
You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written.
This talk will cover:
--What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t)
--How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows
--Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development
--Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence
Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects.

**TALK ABSTRACT:**
AI is all the hype these days; however, despite (or maybe because of) the excitement around it, a high percentage of AI projects fail. Projects that are over budget, delayed, or that fail to scale past the POC phase are very common. In many of these scenarios, choosing the right approach can be as critical as the solution itself. Should you build a tailored machine learning model, leverage the power of large language models (LLMs), or integrate with AI copilots? Each option has unique strengths, trade-offs, and resource requirements, and the key to success lies in aligning your choice with your business goals and technical constraints.
In this talk, we will go beyond the basic concepts and definitions to provide a practical guide that allows attendees to navigate these decisions through real-world case studies. We will examine scenarios in which different AI paradigms were chosen, discuss the factors that influenced those decisions, and outline the process for evaluating needs, constraints, and outcomes. From assessing data availability and team expertise to balancing cost and scalability, you'll gain insights into the critical considerations that guide the selection process.
By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear process for determining whether machine learning, LLMs, or copilots are best suited to your AI challenges and understand the resources and strategies needed to bring your chosen solution to life. This talk is ideal for decision-makers, technical leads, and innovators seeking to demystify AI implementation and maximize the impact of their investments.
