Museum Night at the Typewriter Museum
**The imprints of time: The adventures of a typewriter throughout the 20th century**
Once a typewriter created a revolution in writing and communication. After that it became a crucial part of office work that allowed us to quickly write documents. Later - an old and obsolete residue of the past, turning into a small piece of all the things a computer and today’s smart devices are capable of. Now it’s reviving yet again and gives an opportunity to meet itself. We invite you to not just meet the typewriter itself, but also, it’s always-changing world filled with stories.
Typewriter – a device that with it’s timeline shows how some mechanism could not just be an innovation of it’s time, but also a part of office work, literature, politics and today’s nostalgia.
What can you expect:
* A selection of historic typewriters – with their stories and specialties;
* An insight into typewriter’s role in society;
* Things that lived alongside the typewriter – what they used to write, how they were repaired and where they were produced;
Visitors can also try selected typewriters out themselves and take what they wrote along! The number of papers is limited!
Meet the typewriters and their rhythmic clicking sounds and the vintage analogue writing experience – that’s not just writing, it’s a whole era or people’s lives.
The event will be available from 19:00 up to 00:00, at Sergeja Eizenšteina iela 59a, Riga. Free of admission.
*There will be a technical break from 21:00 until 21:30, during which the event will not be available for a visit.*
*Filming and photography will be happening during the event with purposes of publicity and protection of the property.*

Karaoke every Wednesday
Wednesday is karaoke day.
Every Wednesday we gather to sing. Come with a friend or alone, with or without a voice. The format is simple: show up, grab a microphone, and sing whatever you want. Or don't sing, just support others.
As usual, the meeting place is Top Club. If you haven't been before, you can get to know the space at the same time.
We're looking forward to seeing you this Wednesday. See you there!
Tiekamies tur!

Loudoun Dev Group 005
Join our new group’s third meeting. Meet fellow tech enthusiasts west of the beltway.
Because our group is new, we have a poll for the direction we want to take this new group.
[https://submatrix.net/article/Meetups/e9ym4fr8Ca](https://submatrix.net/article/Meetups/e9ym4fr8Ca)
For this event, we will be running a working meetup.
Our meetings are a great place to work on and show off what you do. We are always welcoming.
Our format is great for people who have started on but not finished one or several side projects.
We will start off with basic introductions and what we are working on and what our goals are. We’ll break the rest of the meeting into two working sessions. In between, we’ll do a quick check-in to see how folks are going.
If the RSVP is full, come anyway. We'll likely have space.
Game Dev Working Session (Tysons-Pimmit VA Library Conference Room)
**Location**: Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library (Virginia) Conference Room
A game development **Working Session** involves 3 key parts:
1. Tell people what you're going to do
2. Actually do stuff
3. Show people what you did
That's what we'll be doing for this meeting. We'll briefly tell each other what we're going to do, then work on our projects, then at around 5:30 wrap up to show each other what we did and chat for a bit.
You don't have to stay the whole time, so feel free to drop in and out as you have time.
All game development skill levels welcome. Whether you're bringing a game you're trying to ship in a month, or you're just planning on following some tutorials or trying out a new tool to improve your skills, use this time to make progress.
Working sessions also train you to think about the scope of your work: pick a chunk of work that you can complete in the time that we have. That way you can end the working session with a feeling of accomplishment!
**What to bring**: Laptop, Charger, maybe a power strip if you have one handy, any other game development tools you need. Try to download any software you need before the working session. There is Wifi at this location, but it may be slow if you have to download any large files.
NOVA Code & Coffee [164] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. People of all skill levels are invited. The concept is simple, bring a laptop and ideas, we'll provide the coffee and donuts! Here's how it works:
1. At 10:15 everyone introduces themselves and briefly describes what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc)
2. For the rest of the day, folks work in the communal space on their projects providing one another help and conversation as needed. Oh and they usually drink coffee and tea too!
That's it! Hope to see you there!

Conference Room A- Large, Floor 1
This is a new venue for us, so give us some time to get more details about it.
Driving is the best option. There is plenty of free on-site parking. Otherwise, we are a 22 minute bus from the Vienna Metro Station. Bicycling from Vienna is possible but difficult, though once you are here, there's a bike rack in the garage behind the building, and there's also a Capital Bikeshare dock 15 min walk away.
