**First time comers** Please make sure to read the rules and contact the organizer before! Otherwise you will be moved to waiting list. Apologies for inconvenience but we have to do it to avoid no-shows. **Games format.** 95% are double games (unless someone needs a break), typically 4 people play together 2 sets and then mix with players from other fields. We play with plastic shuttles - Yonex Mavis 2000 (which are provided). **Registration** If it's your first time, please send a private message to the host to confirm. No-shows are taken quite seriously because they unbalance the games a lot. Also once you register please keep an eye on you private messages, in case we need to contact you. **Players level** Having players with much less experience often unbalances the game making it much less interesting for more experienced players. We still try to be welcoming. As a rule of thumb, if you know what a "clear" is, you are welcome to join. (Note that on Sundays the attitude is a bit more relaxed than on Wednesdays, it's the weekend after all ;) ) Otherwise, feel free to get in touch with me (Timur) and we can see if we can arrange so you and existing players can have good experience playing. **Price and payments** The price of participation is EUR 8.95. Payment is on-site in cash, or via payconiq. Info provided during or shortly after the event. **Cancelations and no-shows** * Switches and cancellations are free of charge if done more than 50 hours before the start of the matches * If you cancel within the 50-hour window before the event starts, you will be placed on the wait-list for the next week's event, whether or not a replacement is found. If no replacement is secured, you'll still need to cover your share of the costs.

The two-party system that defines American politics has, for over a century and a half, been contested between two major political parties: the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. While their ideologies and their policy preferences have shifted throughout the years, in the past few decades, the Republicans have been on the right-wing side of the political spectrum, and the Democrats on the left-wing side. Both parties have, historically, aimed to win over the centrist vote, with various levels of success. Every so often, a realignment happens in American politics. Society changes, political priorities change, and new coalitions get formed. The United States is currently in such a realignment. The Republican Party has, particularly since the ascendance of current President Donald Trump, changed from a neoconservative party into a right-wing populist one. This has had effects on the electorate. While the Republicans have lost many voters in the affluent suburbs of American cities, they have broken through with the American working class. The 2024 election was the first one in decades where the average Democratic voter was wealthier than the average Republican voter. The Republicans have chosen their direction, and for as long as Donald Trump has a significant influence on the party, this direction is unlikely to change. The Democrats, however, are at a crossroads, and it is unclear where they want to go to. Prominent political figures such as Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Zohran Mamdani believe the Democratic Party should move to the left. This is contrary to the centrist line the party has followed under former presidents Bill Clinton and Joe Biden, and to a significant degree, Barack Obama. Several potential presidential candidates for the 2028 election, such as Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg, have explicitly opted to avoid categorization in the hope of expanding their potential appeal as much as possible. At some point, however, the Democratic Party will need to pick a side. The stakes could hardly be higher. Donald Trump is at his lowest level of approval ever, yet the Democrats are only marginally less unpopular. The 2026 midterm elections will decide who has control over the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the 2028 presidential election will be pivotal in deciding the United States' future. The Democrats have a choice to make: do they attempt to win back the working class voters they lost, while potentially risking their position as the party of "pragmatism and reason"? Or do they focus on consolidating their gains in the suburbs, while potentially risking further implications of being the "party of [cultural] elites"? And more importantly, what do these rivaling visions mean for the future of the United States, and will the Democrats be able to convince American voters that they are actually capable of achieving their goals? This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into **four teams of two.** Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience. We aim for debates that are respectful, constructive, and welcoming: * **Respect ideas and people** Listen actively, stay quiet while others speak, and debate arguments, not identities or beliefs. * **Be concise and civil** Keep questions short and relevant; avoid hostility, hate speech, or discrimination. * **Respect boundaries and time** No unwanted advances or suggestive behavior; arrive on time to avoid disrupting the debate. * **Follow moderators** They guide the discussion and ensure fairness.

You may wait for the next game. 5. **Take care of the games:** The people hosting the evening kindly bring and share their own private — and often quite expensive — games. Please don’t bend the cards (these aren’t just cheap poker decks!), be gentle with the components, and make sure everything goes back neatly in the box. 6. **Be present, not on your phone:** Please give your attention when someone is explaining the rules — especially the person hosting the game, who took the time to prepare and make sure everyone can enjoy it. This is a game night, not just a casual bar hangout, so please respect their effort and the focus of the other players. 7. **No double booking:** On Wednesdays, another game night is organized at the same time by another group, the International House of Leuven (IHL). If you sign up for both events, we will automatically remove you from our list. A social game played in person, seated in a circle, each player receives either a ‘good’ or ‘evil’ token with their unique character on it. Good players share information to solve the mystery whilst evil players lie about who they are and what they know. The good team wins if they can piece together their knowledge, trust each other, and execute the demon. The evil team wins if the demon can sow distrust, evade detection, and wipe out the village.

We gather on Mondays for strategic games, but you are free to play strategic games on Thursdays and Saturdays as well. SCHEDULE. We will gather at 7 PM and have the introduction round at 7:15 PM. We meet at lunch each week and each meeting follows a fairly organized agenda. First all participants pass their business cards around. Then each member and guest is invited to give a one-minute overview of their company and what is a perfect referral for the week. We always have a 10 minute presentation from one of the members about their business in more detail. And finally we pass referrals. You're welcome to visit. Nobody is ever put on the spot. Bring plenty of cards!

The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area. Parking can be challenging. There is a parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.
