We will assign tables for represented languages. All languages are welcome! However we don't guarantee the availability of a partner in that particular language, you would like to exchange.
As you all remember well, this event used to bring out hundreds of people every week. However, it was discontinued last year for obvious reasons and we couldn't gather that many people now, because of restrictions. Hence, we are downsizing and caping the number of attendees. We have super limited spots and advance ticket purchase is required.

HOW IT WORKS : We will try to assign tables for each represented languages and will direct attendees to their respective tables accordingly. All languages are welcome! However we don't guarantee the availability of a partner in that particular language, you would like to exchange.

5. Rude or aggressive members are removed from the group at an organizers discretion.
6. This is a face-to-face language exchange event. DO NOT try to arrange an online meeting, by using the comment box or direct message.
7. Most of our members complained about people writing in the comment box. Since it sends notification to all attendees. If you have any questions, send a message to the organizers. Don't write in the comment box.
8. We have ZERO TOLERANCE for solicitation. We don't allow anyone to run their own agenda at the Event. If you are interested to promote/sponsor/collaborate; contact us via (info@merevents.com).

Nordic Connections to America250 and Nordic Language Practice
Letās celebrate America250 and some Nordic connections to the founding of the United States! Did you know that one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence was of Finnish descent? That one of Rochambeauās aides-de-camp was a Swedish count who supposedly left for the American Revolution after a romance with Marie Antoinette? That āOld Denmarkā was a military officer born in Denmark who fought with the Americans at Bunker Hill or that Alexander Hamilton most likely could read Danish? Or that the democratic ideals of the U.S. Constitution served as inspiration for the Norwegian Constitution signed on May 17th, 1814? Join Nordic Culture and Language Exchange for a Meetup event this Saturday, 16 May, from 1-3pm at the Smithsonianās National Museum of American History to learn more. We will practice our Nordic languages for the second hour of the event.
We will meet on the lower level of the museum at āAmericaās Table Cafeā.

May 17 Invasive Plant Removal at TRI
April showers bring May flowers! We are NPS Weed Warriors and Arlington Regional Master Naturalists and you should volunteer with us on Sunday, May 17 to learn about nature and remove invasive plants from everyone's favorite urban island.
Meet us at the entrance to the bridge (on the parking lot side, look for the sign) at 10:00 and bring your garden gloves and loppers/pruners if you have them. If not, we can provide gloves and tools. Wear long sleeves and pants and don't forget a water bottle.
We will have tasks ranging from easy (cutting English ivy and honeysuckle vines from trees) to hard (sawing down bush honeysuckle).
Parking at TRI can be tight if it's a pretty day. When the parking lot is full, you can park in Rosslyn and take the trail down. If you can bike or walk or take public transit, that's wonderful.
We'll see you there!
Erica, Stephanie, and Heidi
P.S. If you can't wait until then to RIP (Remove Invasive Plants!), go here to find more volunteer opportunities in Arlington parks:

I will have a popup booth for [Swift Running ](https://www.topvirtualstaffing.com/best-running-walking-shoes)so I would be busy that way. But I will also do a scavenger hunt / mini activity.
Park over here and there is a FREE shuttle or you can walk!

Hike Trails in NW DC to St. Sophia Greek Festival
Walk about 6+ miles on a variety of trails and some streets in NW DC to discover where SCPRO helped save a park, a trail that may be threatened by construction, the place where the UN was started, a Memorial to a Lebanese poet, and a lively Greek Festival at St. Sophia Cathedral where the hike will officially end ā about a mile from the trailhead.
There will be some elevation changes and one stream crossing.
More information about the Festival here: [https://www.dcgreeks.com/event_display.asp?EventID=2026051502](https://www.dcgreeks.com/event_display.asp?EventID=2026051502).
Wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear, bring water, sunscreen and bug repellent and money to purchase some wonderful food at the Festival (and to give a $2 cash voluntary donation to the local Sierra Club).
