In the united states of Africa by Abdourahman A. Waberi
In the United States of Africa by Djiboutian author Abdourahman A. Waberi is a satirical, speculative novel that reverses global fortunes. The idea is pretty clear āļø:set a novel in a parallel reality where the Global South and North are flipped, where Americans, Japanese and Western Europeans rely on handouts from Haitians and Ethiopians.š°š°š°
America suffer from poverty, war, and disease. The narrative follows MalaĆÆka, often called Maya, a european artist adopted by an african doctor, who travels to "Euramerica" to find her roots.
The book won the French Voices Award, a prize that supports and promotes French-language works translated into English. It was also shortlisted for the Dublin Literary Award in 2011, a major international prize for world literature.

**Being Good Is Not Enough: CVs, Interviews & Personal Branding in the Age of AI**
*Speaker: [Anouk RUIZ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/anouk-ruiz/), Business Development Lead*
* AI can write your CV, optimize your LinkedIn, and rehearse your interview answers - making technical competence the baseline, not the differentiator. In this talk, we explore how to stand out in an AI-augmented market. If AI raises the floor, how do you raise your ceiling?
Weāll challenge the myths that more skills, perfect answers, or simply being good guarantee career security.
Instead, weāll focus on positioning, impact storytelling, live thinking in interviews, and strategic visibility.
For juniors, consultants, and tech professionals who feel competent but invisible and want to become intentionally differentiated.

**Looking Back at 15 Years of Accessibility: What Works ā and What Still Doesnāt**
*Speaker: [Marie Baudy](https://www.linkedin.com/in/marie-baudy-gazel-946b657/), UX & Accessibility Expert*
* After 15 years working with digital accessibility, Iāve had the chance to see many things evolve ā some for the better, others⦠not as much.
In this talk, Iād like to share a personal and honest look at what Iāve learned along the way. Not as an expert with all the answers, but as someone who has spent years trying, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing.
Weāll explore what tends to work when trying to make products and services more accessible: the practices that help, the mindsets that make a difference, and the small changes that can have a real impact.
3 talk
**Practical AI for Business**
*Speaker:* *[Ana Petre](https://www.linkedin.com/in/anamariapetre/),* Director, Revenue *Operations, Oracle Health & Life Sciences*
* AI is everywhere, but real impact comes from how it is actually used in day to day work.
In this talk, we will explore AI from a commercial and revenue operations perspective, focusing on how non-technical teams can adopt it in practical ways. You will learn how AI is embedded into Oracle applications and how it is already shaping internal workflows and customer solutions.
We will also look at how AI adoption is scaled across large organizations through local champion communities, with a real example from Oracle Hospitality. Finally, the session will provide an overview of AI across Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications and industry solutions, including a spotlight on Oracle Health AI and its role in supporting clinical and operational workflows.
Friendly atmosphere and networking time š

Gentle Deep Conversations & Drinks: What has been on your mind lately? āļø
Letās meet in late April for a gentle, warm, and slightly unpredictable afternoon together.āØ
As spring slowly unfolds, we often notice that certain thoughts keep returning, questions, ideas, small concerns, quiet curiosities, or reflections about life that donāt always find space in everyday conversations.
This time, weāll take a moment to explore:
**What has been on your mind lately?** āļø
Not everything needs to be fully clear or resolved.
Sometimes it is enough to notice what is present and to hear how others experience their own inner worlds.
ā What to expect
A small circle of open-minded people, with tea, coffee, or food in hand, sharing reflections, philosophy, psychology, or simply ideas and inspirations that arise naturally in the moment.
The topic is gently suggested, and the conversation will flow organically. šŖ
Weāll explore the questions step by step, from light to deeper, in a roundtable format.
For example:
⢠Whatās your name, where are you from, and what are you doing in Luxembourg?
⢠What has been on your mind lately?
⢠Is there a topic or question you find yourself returning to again and again?
⢠Is this something new in your life, or something that has been present for a long time?
⢠What makes this topic feel important for you right now?
⢠Does this thought feel more exciting, heavy, confusing ā or something else?
⢠When this topic comes to your mind, do you usually want to act, understand, or simply observe?
⢠Do you feel you already have clarity about it, or are you still exploring?
⢠Is there something you wish you understood better about this topic?
⢠Has anything recently influenced the way you see this topic?
⢠If this topic evolved in a positive direction, what might feel different in your life?
⦠and whatever else naturally emerges.
Thereās no pressure to share deeplyā¦listening is just as welcome as speaking. āØ
š Practical details
š Venue: Le Quai Steffen ā Gare de Luxembourg | Restaurant
š
Date: Sunday, April 26, 2026
ā° Time: 15:00 ā 17:00
š„ Group size: Up to 12 people
ā Food & drinks: Everyone orders and pays individually
Since the topic invites reflection, the group will stay intentionally small.
If you find that you canāt attend, please cancel your spot so someone else can join.
If you enjoy authentic connection, gentle humour, openness to different perspectives, and curiosity about others ā not just what they do, but how they see the world ā youāre very welcome to join. š«¶

**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team.

Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineās?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether youāre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
