How to do that?!** A logline is one sentence that describes your story... in the best possible way. Pitching, amongst other things, has always been one of the toughest things about getting one's story off the ground. How do you summarize tens of thousands of words, weeks of writing, months of toiling, and defeat self-doubt into a short and memorable logline? And once your story is out there in the world, a logline will help draw the "right" audience to your story. Finding the essence of the story, rediscovering the protagonist's goals & struggles, and endeavoring for a fresh, iconic angle, we'll learn about the industry-standard formula for pitching your story. We will share ways to make your logline stand out in a sea of stories. In this presentation, the host will explain his writing approach, his experience working with filmmakers and narrative-designers to explore the world of story-telling within the confines of professional storytelling. A focus will be on screenwriting and movies, but **what you will learn today will be applicable to all forms of writing and storytelling**, whether you are writing a novel, a collection of poems, non-fiction, essays, or anything else! In essence, this workship will help you distill the core of the story in one sentence... the logline! And there is more to it! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human.
