Daejeon Toastmasters Club hosts bilingual meetings (Korean & English), offering the perfect opportunity to hone your speaking skills in both languages. Toastmasters is a proven educational non-profit organization with over 100 years of history. Our meetings are well-structured, with members delivering speeches in English or Korean and receiving highly constructive and supportive feedback. If you feel stuck in your language journey and need a breakthrough, Toastmasters is the best place to start. โœณ๏ธOur Value We are committed to self-improvement by supporting and encouraging one another. We grow TOGETHER, not alone. You'll be surprised how supportive we are to each other. In addition to skill development, we provide fun social gatherings and mentoring opportunities!! โœณ๏ธI'm Not Good at Public Speaking... No matter your speaking skills or confidence level, it's perfectly okayโ€”everyone starts somewhere. Our club includes a national speech contest finalist and speech contest organizers from Daejeon and across South Korea! We've all experienced moments of nervousness on stage as we worked to reach this level. In fact, we still have many members who are just beginning their journey in public speaking and eager to improve themselves! โœณ๏ธWho Can Join? Gender, age, nationalityโ€”none of it matters as long as you bring a growth mindset and respect for other members. Guests are always welcome!!! Feel free to make mistakes here and get ready to meet lifelong learner friends.๐Ÿฅฐ โœณ๏ธMembership Fee? Visit our meeting for free! Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration! This session is open forum to share your current projectsโ€”whether complete or in progress, itโ€™s all interesting! Whether youโ€™re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, youโ€™ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired. **New to electronics or curious about tinkering?** Youโ€™re absolutely welcome. If youโ€™re a beginner and want to experiment, Iโ€™ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things outโ€”whether thatโ€™s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience requiredโ€”just an interest in learning and building. While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, weโ€™ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.

Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation* Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, weโ€™ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifactsโ€”living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. Youโ€™ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. Weโ€™ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, weโ€™ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isnโ€™t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether youโ€™re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA

Shut Up & Write!โ„ข Easton Town Center
Shut Up & Write!โ„ข Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Cafรฉ, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! โ€ข What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! Weโ€™ve discovered that itโ€™s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itโ€™s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (Iโ€™ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you! โ€ข What to bring Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible. See you at The Cafรฉ on Saturday!
Free in-person event: Take Control of Your Mental Health
Free in-person event: Take Control of Your Mental Health
Itโ€™s time to take control of your mental health. How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you arenโ€™t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, youโ€™ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp.
