Writing Workshop: Craft the perfect LOGLINE for your story šŸ“ with Jak Writers
Writing Workshop: Craft the perfect LOGLINE for your story šŸ“ with Jak Writers
Hello, Jakarta Writer! **Are you a member of [Jakarta Friends](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you will take at the event 😊 JakWri (former Jakarta Creatives) and JakFri is **the** oldest, biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this **Writing Workshop: How to craft the perfect LOGLINE for your story! šŸ“** Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself. This workshop have limited seats available. Reserve your spot today! **ABOUT THE EVENT** *One line. 20 Seconds. A sentence that captures immediately the imagination of your audience.* **But... How to do that?!** A logline is one sentence that describes your story... in the best possible way. Pitching, amongst other things, has always been one of the toughest things about getting one's story off the ground. How do you summarize tens of thousands of words, weeks of writing, months of toiling, and defeat self-doubt into a short and memorable logline? And once your story is out there in the world, a logline will help draw the "right" audience to your story. Finding the essence of the story, rediscovering the protagonist's goals & struggles, and endeavoring for a fresh, iconic angle, we'll learn about the industry-standard formula for pitching your story. We will share ways to make your logline stand out in a sea of stories. In this presentation, the host will explain his writing approach, his experience working with filmmakers and narrative-designers to explore the world of story-telling within the confines of professional storytelling. A focus will be on screenwriting and movies, but **what you will learn today will be applicable to all forms of writing and storytelling**, whether you are writing a novel, a collection of poems, non-fiction, essays, or anything else! In essence, this workship will help you distill the core of the story in one sentence... the logline! And there is more to it! In the second part of this workshop, everyone will have time to draft, hone, and share their logline with a peer of supportive writers to discuss and improve together! The host will guide everyone through the art of crafting loglines and we'll workshop our own loglines—outside perspectives are valuable inputs in helping sculpt and trim the fat! There's no set literature or resources for the discussion, however, the host will be loosely referring to tenets from these works: * The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler * Story - Substance, Structure, Style, and the Principles of Screenwriting by Robert McKee * Save the Cat! by Blake Snyder A writing journey can be a ton of fun, profitable, and something inspiring other writers to find their own path to success. The 45-minute presentation will be followed by Q&A and discussion, then by a 60-90 minutes workshop & discussion of our own loglines! This event belongs to the series of "How to" workshops related to writing we have had before: * [Introduction to SCREENWRITING for FILM & TV šŸŽžļøšŸæ with Jakarta Creatives](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-writers/events/311945504/?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=share-btn_savedevents_share_modal&utm_source=link&utm_version=v2&member_id=428578398) * [How to SELF-PUBLISH & build an AUDIENCE as a writer šŸ’ŖšŸ‘ with Jakarta Creatives](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/311773715/) * [ABC of CROWDFUNDING (Workshop) šŸ¤‘šŸ’°šŸ˜Ž How to fund your WRITING PROJECTS! ](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/310560709/) **ABOUT THE VENUE** **NOI Coffee & Kitchen** is a cozy and hospitable cafe located in the strategic Tebet highway in the TIS Square. There's both smoking and non-smoking areas. * Let's meet directly there. The host will be seated on large tables for the group. Most likely on the 2nd floor. * Here is a link to the venue for more information: https://www.instagram.com/noicoffeeandkitchen/ * We encourage you to reach the event by public transportation. Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
This is a free, in person meeting. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to ā€œpin the blameā€ on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to ā€œeraseā€ the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies ā€œcorrosive criticismā€ or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are ā€œstoredā€ and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can ā€œeraseā€ those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become ā€œtoxicā€ personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
**Complex Trauma Support Group** Our group is intended for survivors of complex trauma. If you are here, it’s likely that so much of who you are and what you have experienced in this life is actually invisible to most people––to family, society, coworkers, and the people who are around you. We are a peer-led group of survivors creating opportunities for ourselves and others to share our experiences, share support, and build relationships in kind community together. Survivor experiences might include: child sexual abuse, incest, child trafficking, and other experiences of people living with traumatic dissociation and complex PTSD. **What to expect at your first meeting:** Currently, we are offering a bi-monthly in person group at 2:00pm on the first and third Sunday of the month. The only criterion for joining the group is that you are a survivor of trauma wishing to have more kindness in your own life and share kindness with others, and that you agree to practice to group’s relational agreements available for view here: https://www.kindgroups.com/agreements. Joining the group is free of charge. We ask that new people connect with us for 30 minutes on the phone or on zoom before coming to their first group, so that we can determine together that we are a good fit. Our meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Participants are never required to share. You’re also welcome to choose a pseudonym and you will never be asked for private information. You are welcome to leave at any time. The kindness that survivors can share when among others who have survived similar childhood experiences is something we rarely get to experience. Time spent with others who understand even a little bit more about us is a relief. Our hope is to help ourselves and others experience that we are not alone. We wish for our efforts to be a cause of kindness in our own lives and the lives of each other. You can read more about the groups at www.kindgroups.com.

Come support local makers, share good food, and celebrate the beginning of a new season with us. Admission is Free.
