After the first Opium War, Shanghai was opened up to the world. British came to Shanghai first and set up the British settlement. American and French came afterwards to set up American settlement and French Concession. After the Small Sword society uprising, Shanghai was divided to three zones which were managed by different rules. France expanded the concession through constructing“extra-settlement roads” outside the concession. The commercial activities were flourished in International Settlement while on the other hand, French Concession developed to an ideal residential area for the upper class. There were quite a lot of villas and apartments in the area. The French Concession came to an end in 1943 when the Vichy French government signed it over to the puppet government in Nanking. Russian community flourished gradually and there were over 20,000 Russians lived this area which is also used to be called “little St. Petersburg” in 1930s. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options.
