AWS Well-Architected User Group Meetup #5
AWS Well-Architected User Group Meetup #5

OSTELLO BELLO OLYMPIC GAMES
OSTELLO BELLO OLYMPIC GAMES
**Are you ready for the Milano–Cortina Winter Olympics? We’re not.** **That’s why we’ve created our very own Ostello Bello "Olympic" Games: a glorious display of questionable athletic skills and high-level nonsense.** While the "other" guys are busy with the official **Milano-Cortina 2026** ceremonies, we’re bringing the real "action" to the streets of Milan. From February 6th, we aren't gathering to break world records; we’re gathering to break the laws of physics. This isn’t about the podium; it’s about the survival of the chillest. Get your "winter" gear ready, because we’re about to prove that being an elite athlete is 10% talent and 90% just showing up for the vibes. **The Incentive:** Every participant gets a **shot**. The "legends" who actually win take home an **Ostello Bello T-shirt or a Drink**. ## The Disciplines: Official "Technical" Standards Every day from **7 PM to 9 PM**, our "athletes" will face a rotating schedule of these elite winter disciplines: ### 1\. Air Hockey: The Wrist\-Flick Battle A high-speed duel where the only thing frozen is your gaze on the puck. * **The Goal:** Smash the plastic disc into the hole. * **Requirement:** Move your hand faster than your brain can process and celebrate every point like you’ve just secured a gold medal. ### 2\. Boxing\-Glove Beer Pong: The Clumsy Champion Challenge We took a classic and made it impossible by adding the "Yeti factor." * **The Twist:** You have to play wearing massive, padded boxing gloves. * **The Challenge:** Gripping a tiny ball with giant hands is the ultimate test of patience. Success here is statistically unlikely and basically a miracle. ### 3\. DIY Curling: The Professional Slide The most serious-looking sport in our program. We’ve replaced expensive stones with pots and ice with felt pads, but the tension is real. * **The Setup:** A "House" (target) taped on the floor and a "Hog Line" for the release. * **The Action:** Launch the pot while your teammates run alongside it with brooms, screaming *"Hurry! Hard!"* just like in the real tournaments. * **The Score:** Closest pot to the center wins. Clean floors are a bonus. ### BONUS DAY: The "Wildcard" Game The discipline is a mystery. Our local legends will choose the challenge. Expect the unexpected: and probably more shots. **AND REPEAT.**

Zig Day Milano

**Agenda** 09:00 – 09:30 Accoglienza, introduzione informale e setup progetti 09:30 – 12:45 Sessioni Hands-On 12:45 – 14:15 Pausa pranzo 14:15 – 17:30 Sessioni Hands-On 17:30 - 18:00 Show & Tell **Attività extra** **Colazione @ Napoli Bakery** Il corpo principale dello Zig Day inizia alle 9:00.

This time, we will be hosted at **iliad Italia**'s headquarters in Milan for an evening dedicated to AI at scale—ranging from Foundation Models for credit risk to sovereign and open-source data architectures. 📅 **When:** Wednesday, February 18, 2026 📍 **Where:** iliad Italia, Viale Francesco Restelli, 1A, 20124 · Milano **⚠️ Important:** Spots are limited. Please keep your RSVP updated to allow others to participate if you can no longer attend. *** ## 🕒 Agenda * **18:30:** 🚪 Doors open & Check-in * **19:00:** 🎤 **Talk 1:** Open Source & Sovereign Architecture – Riccardo Lorenzon * **19:45:** 🎤 **Talk 2:** Klarna’s Foundation Model – Valeria Verzi, Sudhakar Periyasamy, Goran Dizdarevic * **20:30:** 🍕 **Networking & Aperitivo** offered by Iliad! *** ## 🎤 The Talks ## 1️⃣An Open Source and Sovereign Architecture for Data, ML and AI **Speaker:** Riccardo Lorenzon (Head of Data @ iliad Italia) Iliad Group invests billions in sovereign AI ecosystems, open-source tech, and low-carbon data centers to reduce reliance on non-European providers and bolster Europe's technological autonomy. True to Iliad Group's 'make-over-buy' culture of full control, iliad Italia is building a data architecture in a hybrid on-prem and Scaleway (Iliad Group cloud) setup, combining open-source tech and managed services. This powers data management, self-service analytics, and ML/AI use cases for our 12m+ user base and 1000+ employees. During this speech, we will guide you through the tech journeys we have built and are building. **About the Speaker:** Riccardo Lorenzon serves as Head of Data at iliad Italia, where he works on evolving the data function into a modern setup covering the full data value chain from sources to business decisions. He previously led data teams at Vedrai, an AI startup, and Whirlpool EMEA, handling projects in analytics, machine learning, and cloud platforms across areas like consumer service, supply chain, and sales. With a Master’s in Mathematical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and studies at ETH Zürich, he combines a hands-on approach to delivery with a strong focus on strategic value for the business. *** ## 2️⃣ Building the Klarna Foundation Model: A Unified Transformer for Customer Behavior Modeling at Scale **Speaker:** Valeria Verzi (Principal Data Scientist @ Klarna), Sudhakar Periyasamy, Goran Dizdarevic In this session, we introduce Klarna’s Foundation Model (KFM): a lightweight Transformer trained on more than 130 million customer events to learn a unified representation of customer behavior. Rather than building separate, task-specific models, KFM operates as a common sequence-modeling backbone that encodes behavioral patterns across different touchpoints of a customer’s interaction history with Klarna. We will walk through the technical design of the system, including event tokenization, sequence construction, and Transformer architecture, as well as how the learned embeddings are exposed as a shared layer for multiple downstream use cases. Attendees will gain a concrete understanding of how foundation models can be applied to behavioral sequence data in fintech, and how a single model can serve as a reusable, extensible representation layer across heterogeneous modeling tasks. **About the Speaker:** Valeria Verzi is a Principal AI Scientist at Klarna, where she leads the development of next-generation models, from foundation models to advanced deep learning or agentic systems. She has nearly a decade of experience applying machine learning to high-stakes decisioning across fintech and insurance. Before her current role, Valeria served as Klarna’s Head of Data Science for Fraud Prevention. Prior to Klarna, she held senior data science roles at Generali and NTT Data. Valeria holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. *** See you there! 🚀 *The PyData Milano Team*

Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation* Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA
