Challenging the UX Mantras
**UX Salon** is thrilled to welcome you to a special event in collaboration with **[Masters in Design for Responsible AI](https://ai.elisava.net/master/design-responsible-ai/)** hosted at the beautiful auditorium at **[Elisava](https://www.elisava.net).**
**Speaker**
In this talk by **[Irene Pereyra](https://www.linkedin.com/in/irenepereyra/)**, a hereticâs stance is taken on the sacred mantras of UX such as âGood UX is simple,â âGood UX is universal,â and âGood UX is intuitive,â challenging them one by one. Through client and personal projects, the argument is made that good UX design is neither universal nor timeless, but situational and shaped by the context of the here and now. The audience is invited to reconsider what âgoodâ truly means in digital design today.
**Irene Pereyra** is the co-founder of the independent design studio Anton & Irene and the author of Universal Principles of UX (Quarto, 2023), with a second book, The Accessible Design Reference & Specification Book, forthcoming in summer 2026. She is also a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).
Irene also works at the intersection of design and policy with the Danish think tank 21st Europe, where she contributes to speculative design Blueprints exploring how Europe is rethinking policy, technology, and design. Her work focuses on making complex systems understandable, human, and future-focused.
**Hosts**
**[Iris Latour](https://www.linkedin.com/in/irisjanelatour/), Director of Research @ [THEFT studio](https://theft.studio)** is a UX research leader working at the intersection of AI, product strategy, and responsible innovation. **[Andres Colmenares](https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrescolmenares/), Director of [MDRAI](https://ai.elisava.net/master/design-responsible-ai/) @ Elisava** is a strategist and creative foresight consultant who has built learning programs from concept to reality at leading design schools and curated gatherings that bring creative communities together. He works at the intersection of futures thinking, strategic design and responsible tech, focusing on collaborative learning, critical thinking and understanding the socio-ecological impacts of AI systems and digital technologies.
**[Master in Design for Responsible AI](https://ai.elisava.net/master/design-responsible-ai/)** by **[Elisava](https://www.elisava.net)** is a pioneering blended-learning program, created in collaboration with [IAM](https://iam-internet.com/), for future leaders of responsible tech looking to develop the critical skills, knowledge and networks needed to design, implement and govern AI systems in ethical, responsible and creative ways.

**19:00 Kibble: Designing Hybrid Components for Native and Web**
Speaker: [Traian Stanciu](https://www.linkedin.com/in/traian-stanciu/) Senior Software Engineer at Rover.com
Building a component library that runs on web, React Native, iOS, and Android without diverging into chaos is harder than it sounds. This talk digs into how KibbleâRover's design systemâhandles the gap between platforms through a file-naming convention (`.tsx` / `.native.tsx` / `.common.ts`), a unified event abstraction that bridges web click and native press events, and a token pipeline that generates Swift, XML, CSS, and TypeScript from a single source of truth
**19:25 React Native in a Native App: Brownfield Integration & Over-The-Air Deployments**
Speaker: [Luca Barone](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lucabarone95/) Mobile Engineer at Rover.com
A practical look at how Rover.com ships React Native screens inside fully native iOS and Android apps â without rewriting them from scratch. We'll cover the "brownfield" integration pattern, how JS and native code communicate through bridge modules, and how we deploy JavaScript updates to users in minutes using Expo EAS Update, completely bypassing the App Store review cycle.

**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
**Abstract**
Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively.
This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. Weâll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from serverâdriven controls, and why theyâre becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether youâre maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, youâll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standardsâbased way.

The Graduate
This 1967 film is widely regarded as one of the best American movies ever made. Now remembered almost as much for its Simon and Garfunkel music as its deadpan comedy and being the role that established Dustin Hoffman as the hottest actor in Hollywood. It became a cultural icon for capturing the spirit of 60s angst of a young man on the make, while garnering a batch of Oscar nominations.
After watching the movie on your own, join us to relive (or experience!) those feelings at our discussion.
ServiceNow's Got Talent
Builders, creators, architects, admins, consultants - come one, come all. This one's for you.
We're bringing a little friendly competition to the Columbus ServiceNow community while highlighting the cool things people have built on the platform.
Five presenters will take the stage to showcase something they've built, solved, designed, or imagined on the ServiceNow platform - and a panel of judges (plus YOU, our amazing audience) will score them live.
So basically, America's Got Talent but make it ServiceNow's Got Talent.
Bring a notepad if you'd like 'cause you'll definitely be learning something new.
Each presenter gets 10 minutes max to wow the crowd with:
âą A demo
âą A real-world business solution
âą A bold idea
âą A UX transformation
âą Or a creative use of the platform
Judging Criteria:
đ Business Value
đ Innovation
âš User Experience
This event is about celebrating ideas, sharing knowledge, and showing how ServiceNow can drive both business impact and meaningful user value.
Come learn. Come support. Come get inspired.
Refreshments and bites will be provided.
And maybe next time⊠youâll be on stage.
