We're Mixing it Up! English Party - Game Afternoon in the Park
We're Mixing it Up! English Party - Game Afternoon in the Park
We're Mixing it Up! You're invited to English Party - Game Afternoon in the Park! We have decided to branch out and try something new this month! We will meet at Cerro San Cristobal (ParqueMet), at the Providencia (Pedro de Valdivia) entrance at 4:45pm, and we’ll all walk up the path together at 5pm to a specific location that I will share with the official guests who RSVP via WhatsApp. Join our free WhatsApp group and you can RSVP before the general public! [https://chat.whatsapp.com/CC7wzkxlnukBzmwaK3ovkM](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CC7wzkxlnukBzmwaK3ovkM) Since these events fill up far in advance and many people who RSVP "Yes" on Meetup don't end up coming, RSVP-ing on Meetup is no longer enough to guarantee your spot. I confirm attendees via WhatsApp. Thank you for understanding. Once we’re at our spot, we’ll play outdoor games for about 2.5-3 hours. The park closes at 8:30pm so we'll probably need to start walking back down by around 8pm. We may be running around a bit (or at least walking quickly if you prefer not to run) for some of the games so keep that in mind when planning your schedule for eating lunch that day, etc. You would want to bring appropriate clothing and gear for being outside in the sun. We’d try to hang out in the shade mostly but it’s still important to bring sun protection. Some key things to bring would be: a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses if you want, comfortable clothes, and tennis shoes (comfy shoes for walking/running around). If you think you might get hungry during the event it would also be good to bring a small portable snack like a granola bar or trail mix. More game details to be published soon! Stay tuned! For those who feel moved to contribute to English Party, the completely optional suggested donation for this event is $3 USD. If you would like to make a donation, here is Shannon's PayPal link: PayPal (USD): https://paypal.me/ShannonMcEvoy?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US Friends are welcome (if possible please have them RSVP too, or add them as your guest) Can't wait to see you there! \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- Welcome to English Party! The purpose of our group is to encourage fluency in English while having FUN and making friends! Our main activities rotate between arts and crafts, game nights, and music (YES - singalongs and karaoke!). * Do you know some English, but freeze up in embarrassment when talking with native English speakers? * Are you bored with learning English in a traditional classroom setting? * Do you crave the challenge of communicating in English in real-life? * Are you a fan of learning by doing? * Are you an English-speaking traveler or expat looking to connect with locals? * Do you enjoy Arts and Crafts? Boardgames? Singing? All of the above? If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, chances are you'd have a blast with us in our group! We host both in-person (in Santiago, Chile) and online experiences. We would love to have you join us! Follow us on Instagram at @englishparty.cl https://www.instagram.com/englishparty.cl/ Questions? LET'S GO ON A GROUP TOUR OF THE MORGAN LIBRARY & MUSEUM
LET'S GO ON A GROUP TOUR OF THE MORGAN LIBRARY & MUSEUM
## 🎨 A Renaissance Masterpiece Experience at ## **The Morgan Library & Museum** ### **Special Group Tour & Two Rare European Masterworks** 🗓 **Saturday, February 21** ⏰ **11:00 AM – 1:00 PM** 📍 **The Morgan Library & Museum, Midtown Manhattan** *** We are delighted to invite you to a **very special morning at The Morgan Library & Museum**, featuring a **professionally led group tour** followed by **two extraordinary Renaissance exhibitions**, each centered on a masterpiece on rare loan from Italy. This experience combines history, architecture, and world-class art — all within one of New York City’s most exquisite cultural institutions. *** ## 🏛️ **PART I — DOCENT-LED GROUP TOUR (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)** Our visit will begin with a **guided group tour** led by a Morgan docent, offering a rich introduction to: • The history and vision of J. Pierpont Morgan • The museum’s extraordinary architecture and historic buildings • Highlights from the Morgan’s renowned collections • The transformation of a private library into a world-class public institution This first hour provides essential context and storytelling, allowing us to fully appreciate the spaces and treasures we’ll encounter throughout the museum. *** ## 🖼️ **PART II — TWO RENAISSANCE MASTERWORKS IN FOCUS (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)** Following the tour, we will explore **two exceptional exhibitions**, each featuring a landmark painting on loan from Italy and shown in dialogue with the Morgan’s own collection. *** ### ✨ **Giovanni Bellini’s *Pietà* — Restored** For the **first time ever in the United States**, Giovanni Bellini’s early Renaissance masterpiece *Pietà* (ca. 1470) is on view, on loan from the Museo della Città in Rimini, Italy. After a comprehensive conservation treatment made possible by Venetian Heritage, Inc., the painting is presented in **J. Pierpont Morgan’s historic Study**, alongside Renaissance works from Morgan’s own collection — including paintings by **Hans Memling** and **Perugino**, and sculpture by **Antonio Rossellino**. This intimate presentation offers a rare opportunity to experience Bellini’s emotional power and technical mastery in a setting worthy of the work itself. *** ### 🍇 **Caravaggio’s *Boy with a Basket of Fruit* — In Focus** We will also visit the exhibition centered on **Caravaggio’s *Boy with a Basket of Fruit***, on loan from the Galleria Borghese in Rome. An important early work by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, this painting reveals the artist at a pivotal moment — blending Lombard naturalism with a radical new approach that would forever change Western painting. Displayed alongside related works, this exhibition highlights Caravaggio’s revolutionary vision and his dramatic break from traditional illusion, celebrating instead the artifice and intensity of the studio. *** ## 🎟️ **TICKETS & RSVP** **Cost:** **$28.50 per person** This is the **actual cost of museum admission**, with the added bonus of a **professionally led group tour** — a rare and excellent value for this level of access. 💳 Payment details and RSVP instructions will be provided through the Meetup event page. 🪧 Space is limited — early RSVP is strongly encouraged. *** ## ✨ **WHY THIS EVENT IS SPECIAL** • A guided experience at one of NYC’s most beautiful institutions • Two Renaissance masterpieces on rare loan from Italy • Exhibitions shown in historic Morgan interiors • A relaxed, intimate group size ideal for discussion and appreciation This promises to be a **memorable and intellectually rich morning**, perfectly suited for members who love art, history, and meaningful museum experiences. I truly hope you’ll join us.
