Sunday Gathering - connect with community in Brussels
**Gathering in community is an essential part of being human.** When we sing, share, play, dance, hold rituals, eat together… We move beyond dogma. The Gathering is about the simple yet radical choice to gently ease open our hearts and trust the voice of love to guide the way.
* REGISTER HERE: https://forms.gle/Szo2ffdEs5ti147P9
Many of us have become isolated in our spiritual journeys, atomised by our individual interests, unaware of the mycelial network that connects us and the abundance of resources available to help us flourish.
**The Gathering is about remembering the sacredness of life, our belonging in a wider community and that our soul-given gifts are designed to be lived and shared.**
The Gathering takes place in Brussels once or twice a month on a Sunday afternoon. Starting with a **singing circle** and a moment of **contemplation**, participants then choose between **practices exploring different aspects of connection - to self, to other, and to life**. We finish the afternoon together with a **potluck meal**.

**\*\~\*\~\*\~\*\~\*\~PRACTICAL INFO\~\*\~\*\~\*\~\*\~\***
**{ TIMING }**
* \~ Please arrive between 13:45-14:15 so we can start together. The doors will close promptly at 14:15.
* \~ The circle and activities will last until 18:00, so please make sure you are able to be present until then.
* \~ Everyone is welcome to stay afterwards to share food until 19:00.
**{ BRING }**
* \~ a meditation cushion or a pillow (there is nothing provided in the space!)
* \~ your water bottle
* \~ clothes you can move comfortably in
* \~ a blanket, warm socks and/or sweater (optional, if you easily get cold)
* \~ a yoga mat (optional, for extra cushioning)
* \~ food to share (optional, for potluck)
**{ ACCESSIBILITY }**
* \~ The event will be mainly in English, but some practices may be proposed in other languages.
* \~ Children are very welcome! There will be at least one children-friendly practice available.
* \~ The space is wheelchair-accessible, although for practical reasons please indicate it on the registration form.
**{ GIFT MODEL }**
The Gathering is experimenting with a gift model, meaning that everyone is invited to contribute as they can.
Gifts can take many different forms. Time, energy, experience, food, knowledge, wealth, skills, creativity, love… This does not mean that money is ignored. There are costs associated with renting the space and money is needed in order to further develop the project.
**We will ask participants during the afternoon to contribute consciously and according to their means. However, money should not prevent anyone who wants to join, to be able to join.**
How would you like to contribute? There are infinite ways to share your gifts, from helping with the costs, to helping with the set up, to guiding a practice, to cooking a group meal... And if you don’t feel like you are able to contribute anything right now, you are still welcome.

Tennis doubles (NOT FOR BEGINNERS) - White Star Evere
Hello! This is a meet-up to play tennis from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday. Meeting is on the courts. The courts are booked under the name Jean-Marc. This event is for intermediate and advanced players and not organised for novice players or beginners.
Please make sure to bring the exact sum of 10 € in cash.
The event is non-commercial. This sum covers the cost of the courts reserved. The organizer is not there to make money out of you. Ladies are encouraged to join.
If anyone wants to drop out, they should do it on Saturday morning, not on Sunday the day of the meetup, another wise it would be too late to find a replacement in time or to cancel a court in time with reimbursement. If you don't do this, you will be asked by the organizer to reimburse your participation fee. If this happens too late then those who have cancelled after Saturday morning will have to cover the extra cost for reserving the courts. In the past meetups, it happened too many times that we were an oneven number and because of that all those present had less fun to play. If you don't show up without giving a written excuse in time, the first future participation will be cancelled and you will be asked to reimburse the participation fee. If it happens too many times you will not be able to participate anymore.
In case if we are an uneven number of players, then the last player (except the host of course who has to collect the money) can leave or persuade other players to play with him or her. Of course if the last player leaves, then he or she doesn't have to pay the participation fee. If this player leaves, he or she will be added on a future event by the host or organizer in the participation list if the player is far away in the waiting list. This is the advantage of leaving on a voluntary basis;-).
We operate on the principle of Fair Play as we do not have umpires or referees. Any disputes or disagreements over line calls or scores should be resolved immediately on the court and, when agreement is not possible, the point or game should be replayed. To be able to replay the game, 3 players need to agree on that without manipulation of the one who disputes an entire game, anotherwise injustice could occur where in the end possibly the biggest cheater could win... This situation applies also, if the host or the organizer is involved.
When one of the players still doesn't accept this compromise, then it should be reported (meetup message by preference) to the organizer or host of the meetup event.
One of the consequences could be that the first upcoming event could be cancelled by the organizer for the player who doesn't comply with the compromise to play the point or the game again. If the same player does that again for a second time, then the person will see 4 of his next tennis meetups cancelled. If this happens a third time with the same player, then the player in question will be banned from all future tennis meetups with an exclusion as a final result.
Whenever there is a big problem, it should be reported as well to the organizer of the group so he can, if necessary, take actions to improve the situation for all the players.
Please also note that if you are the first on the waiting list, you will automatically be moved up to the attendance list if someone pulls out. So if you are on the waiting list and see that you cannot attend, please also change your status to not going.
If you would like to organize a meet up either this week or next week please get in touch with me, my name is Jean-Marc. It will depend on your initiatives to create more tennis meetups per week.

Family Constellations Circle in Brussels - January (half day format)
This is an open Circle for anyone and open to constellate on any subject. It's a good way to get started if you've been wanting to see what Constellations is all about. We will start with some bodywork exercises and then there will be time for three Constellations on any topic.
A Constellation is a means for accessing the timeless map you hold within, linking the past to the present and the present to the future. It's a tool to find the origin of the problems we face today such as repeated patterns, blockages, relationship difficulties or health concerns, to name a few, and has the power to reveal hidden dynamics not visible to the normal eye. Then a healing exchange takes place and steps are taken to free you from the past and put you on a road to freedom, understanding and authenticity for your future.
There are two ways to participate, either as a participant or Space Holder in the Circle or to bring a topic to constellate as an Issue Holder, which is limited to three places. Although one person will bring a subject to constellate, everyone participates. A Constellation is a Healing Circle for all who attend.
Price for Space Holders: 45 Euros (12 spots)
Price for Issue Holders: 145 Euros (3 spots)
Date: Sunday, January 11th
Time: 3:00 to 7:00 pm
Location: Shanti Home: Rue Darwin 8, Brussels 1190 (Forest)
\*There are three spots available for Constellations. Contact me if you'd like to reserve one of these spots.
\*Spots are limited for both roles to ensure enough space in the room, although the room is very spacious.
*Modified price for students or if you are unemployed. Write me if this is your case.*Payment must be made beforehand. You can register either to the following account or pay by credit card or PayPal by following the link to the website.

Bozar Exhibition: Luz y sombra. Goya and Spanish Realism 🌈
Dear folks,
Let’s start the new year with some art vibes. After the exhibition, we can go to a café (Tich) and talk about it. 😊
Please buy your ticket here before you sign up (**Entry time 15h**): https://www.bozar.be/en/calendar/luz-y-sombra-goya-and-spanish-realism
About Exhibition:
This unique exhibition brings the groundbreaking oeuvre of Francisco de Goya y Lucientes (1746−1828) into dialogue with work by contemporaries and artists from later generations. With his fierce, gripping depictions of injustice, abuses and horrors of his time, Goya was the pivot in the development of a modernity firmly anchored in the Spanish realist tradition.
We will meet up at the entrance of the museum at **14h50.**
See you soon. Cheers!

🌨️ Why We Are Going (The Winter Magic)
Monschau is often called a "real-life snow globe."
Under a blanket of snow, the town transforms:
* The "Snow Globe" Effect: The slate roofs of the 300-year-old half-timbered houses look stunning dusted in white.
* River Views: The Rur River winds through the town, and in winter, the banks and old water wheels create a perfect frosty backdrop.
* Panoramic Silence: We will hike up to viewpoints where you can see the entire snowy valley and the Eifel hills stretching out in winter silence.
📍 Meeting Point: Brussels Central Station (Main Hall, near the departure board)
⏰ Meeting Time: 07:45 AM (Departure is 08:01 sharp!)
🥾 The Hike: Monschau Rur Valley Loop 35
We will tackle Loop 35, a scenic route mixing nature and history.
* Distance: 8.0 km
* Elevation Gain: ~295 m
* Duration: ~3 hours

Frozen lakes and ponds hike
Or from Trammuseum to Africa museum.
Or from Woluwe park to Tervuren park.
Are you aware of all the ponds and lakes east of Brussels? How would they look like when frozen?
Let's do 16 km to find out.😊
The moderate speed (4+ km/hour) hike takes us from the Woluwe park, through fancy neighborhood and Rouge Cloitre through the big forest where multiple ponds and streams are to be discovered in their semi-/frozen state.
Before we end up in the nice cafetaria of the Africuseum, with maybe a mug of warm chocolat, we will wander through the forest to have a view of the lakes of the Tervuren park.
Please add layers of clothing to handle -5°C as well as 0°C.
Bring your thermosflask with warm liquid and some snack.
The cafetaria is close to the tram44 end/start location.

🌿 **Restful Reset – Gong Bath**
🗓 **Sunday, January 11 · 4:00 pm**
📍 **Yoga Studio Brussels**
After the intensity of the beginning of the year, this gong bath is offered as a deep pause — a moment to slow down, settle the nervous system, and gently return to balance.
This session is intentionally **restful rather than stimulating**. Through sound, silence, and vibration, the body is invited to shift from mental activity into deeper listening, breath, and sensation.
🔔 **The sound journey unfolds through planetary qualities:**
☀️ Sun – clarity, vitality, inner orientation
🌙 Moon – rest, receptivity, emotional regulation
💗 Venus – harmony, softness, self-care
🌀 Mercury – mental digestion, integration, calming the mind
🌍 Earth – grounding, stability, embodiment (including Schumann resonance)
Rather than pushing or releasing, this gong bath supports **integration and recalibration**, allowing the nervous system to rest and reorganize.
💶 **Price**
• 35 € (one person)
• 32 € per person when coming two or more
⚠️ **Early booking recommended** — places are limited and sessions tend to fill up.
📩 **Bookings & info:**

✨ A space to rest, integrate, and realign.

🌿 **Restful Reset – Bain de gong=**
🗓 **Dimanche 11 janvier · 16h00**
📍 **Yoga Studio Brussels**
💶 **Tarif**
• 35 € (une personne)
• 32 € par personne à partir de deux personnes
⚠️ **Réservation anticipée recommandée** — nombre de places limité.

[LOCATION: THE SISTER CAFE] Philosophy Meetup: 17:00-18:30
Welcome to our weekly event in the upstairs room of The Sister Café, rue Chair et Pain 3, one block from the Grand Place. Please get there early enough to order your drink at the bar first. Thank you!
After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations.
Past questions have been wide and not confined to academic philosophy:
What is a genuine friend?
Is social media turning us into emotional zombies?
Do we lose some of the experience of things by defining them?
Are we driven by sex?
Is loneliness a personal failure?
Is morality relative?
**Crucially, be kind and respectful and generous** in your disagreements; remember how much you personally enjoy someone else proving you wrong before celebrating your cutting counterexamples.

Bad Girls Book Club January 2026
**Our January novel is: Once Upon a Wardrobe by Patti Callahan**
**This month's featured novel is a 20th-century biographical fiction, coming-of-age, historical romance, women’s fiction, world literature, student biography, heartfelt, magic, and feel-good novel. The book is 311 pages in print and 7 hours and 8 minutes on audiobook.**
1950: Margaret Devonshire (Megs) is a seventeen-year-old student of mathematics and physics at Oxford University. When her beloved eight-year-old brother asks Megs if Narnia is real, logical Megs tells him it's just a book for children, and certainly not true. Homebound due to his illness, and remaining fixated on his favorite books, George presses her to ask the author of the recently released novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a question: "Where did Narnia come from?"
Despite her fear about approaching the famous author, who is a professor at her school, Megs soon finds herself taking tea with C. S. Lewis and his own brother Warnie, begging them for answers.
Rather than directly telling her where Narnia came from, Lewis encourages Megs to form her own conclusion as he shares the little-known stories from his own life that led to his inspiration. As she takes these stories home to George, the little boy travels farther in his imagination than he ever could in real life.
After holding so tightly to logic and reason, her brother's request leads Megs to absorb a more profound truth: "The way stories change us can't be explained. It can only be felt. Like love."
January Book Club - Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
For January, we’re reading Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy.
For fans of Flight Behavior and Station Eleven, a novel set on the brink of catastrophe, as a young woman chases the world's last birds--and her own final chance for redemption.
Franny Stone has always been a wanderer. By following the ocean's tides and the birds that soar above, she can forget the losses that have haunted her life. But when the wild she loves begins to disappear, Franny can no longer wander without a destination. She arrives in remote Greenland with one purpose: to find the world's last flock of Arctic terns and track their final migration. She convinces Ennis Malone, captain of the Saghani, to take her onboard, winning over his eccentric crew with promises that the birds will lead them to fish.
As the Saghani fights its way south, Franny's dark history begins to unspool. Battered by night terrors, accumulating a pile of unsent letters, and obsessed with pursuing the terns at any cost, Franny is full of secrets. When her quest threatens the safety of the entire crew, Franny must ask herself what she is really running toward--and running from.
Propelled by a narrator as fierce and fragile as the terns she is following, Charlotte McConaghy's Migrations is both an ode to our threatened world and a breathtaking page-turner about the lengths we will go for the people we love.

Break Up With What Broke You
On a list of "My Favorite Things", few people would put a "break up" in their top ten. More often, these words evoke feelings of shame, embarrassment, poor choices, and bad or sad endings. Before the new and beautiful can be built, the old, broken, and unnecessary must be cleared away. This process can be painful, but it is good, needful, and can produce wonderful results when done wisely and well.
How does one break free from anxiety, comparison, or shame? Christian Bevere points people to the freedom God desires for His children, as well as giving practical ideas on how to shed both unhealthy baggage and the lies that seek to leave us anchored to past failure. Drawing from the Bible, ***Break Up With What Broke You*** clearly shows that what Satan would seek to use for evil, God uses for good and to accomplish His purposes.
Join us **Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 6:30 pm**, when we gather at **Panera Bread, 300 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, across from St. John Arena**. We'd love to see you there!
