🏺Raiders of the Lost Egyptian Treasures @ The British Museum
🏺Raiders of the Lost Egyptian Treasures @ The British Museum
Fancy a fun social **archaeological** adventure into the **Egyptian** temple? An expedition venturing into history, myth, and discovery at the Museum’s Egyptian galleries. We'll step into a world of monumental statues, hieroglyphs, and sarcophagi so **extraordinary** that even the most famous archaeologist of them all **-** Indiana Jones himself - might hesitate to enter! But no need for Indi - we'll become direct **raiders of knowledge**, uncovering the secrets of Egypt’s most extraordinary artifacts — no Lucas props, just authentic treasures that have captivated explorers, scholars, and adventurers for centuries. Yep - for thousands of years, Ancient Egypt bestowed extraordinary knowledge and innovation on the world - easily giving the big greek philosophers a run for their money! From **mathematics** to building those monumental structures and advanced **astronomy** to create calendars, they practiced **medicine** and mummification with remarkable skill. Their wisdom, traditions and emphasis on cosmic order influenced civilizations far beyond the Nile, leaving a legacy that still shapes how we understand science, culture, and history today We'll step into the Egyptian Sculpture Gallery and encounter monumental statues of pharaohs, sarcophagi, and hieroglyph‑covered stelae. Texts will help guide us through their hidden stories — from the Rosetta Stone to colossal busts of Ramesses II — revealing the real history behind treasures that could easily rival Dr Jones’s greatest finds. 🗝️ Lost Treasures Trail Following a themed trail through the galleries, we'll piece together clues among mummies, tomb goods, and temple carvings. Inspired by Indy’s relic hunts, this puzzle challenge is grounded in authentic archaeology, encouraging you to see the magnificent collections with your own eyes 🎩 Explorer’s Flair And to infuse some lighthearted fun into the journey - *Indiana Jones* style fedora hats and satchels are welcome! Feel free to strike a pose beside towering statues or ancient sarcophagi for **photo opportunities** blending cinematic fun with the awe of Egyptian relics. Impersonations of Indy welcome too - if yours is better than mine I buy you a drink! ☕🥂🍻 After we survive the ancient curses and colossal statues with our discoveries intact, we’ll continue the expedition at a nearby pub — a chance to debrief like real archaeologists, swap theories, compare clues, and enjoy a well‑earned drink getting to know your fellow explorers Lucas Stone Unmummified

WILD SKETCH: BOTANICAL DRAWING WORKSHOP WITH SISETTA ZAPPONE – SUNDAY 14 JUNE
WILD SKETCH: BOTANICAL DRAWING WORKSHOP WITH SISETTA ZAPPONE – SUNDAY 14 JUNE
**Join us for a Wild Sketch with printmaker, botanical artist and London Drawing tutor Sisetta Zappone!** We will be taking our workshop into the wild as we explore the beautiful Camley Street urban nature reserve, located in the heart of Kings Cross. Camley Street Park has a wealth of environments to explore- The woodland, grassland and wetland habitats include ponds, reedbed and marshy areas which provide a rich habitat for birds, butterflies, amphibians and plant life. There is also plenty of under cover space to shelter from what ever weather is happening! Shade and shelter – lovely cool and shady areas with tables and spaces for quiet drawing exploration. We will be exploring the environments in the park and using simple materials to explore the microcosoms of plant, flowers and insects we come across. Working in graphite, coloured pencils and watercolours Sisetta will lead the group through simple exercises and then focus on individual tuition as you come across plants and spaces you would like to explore- helping you to create lush and in depth drawings and paintings. About Camley Park: The site was once a coal drop for the railways into nearby King’s Cross Railway Station, which was demolished in the 1960s. It had been colonised by nature so the London Wildlife Trust ran a campaign to save the site from development and instead create a nature reserve; Camley Street Natural Park opening in 1985. Multi-functional floating reedbeds have been placed in the water’s edge along this area of the Regent’s Canal. They incorporate habitats for birds to nest in, invertebrates to live in, fish to spawn and shelter from predators in. The reedbeds also provide a range of ecosystem functions, including the absorption of excess nutrients from the water, mitigating canal pollution. This nature reserve is a fantastic oasis right in the heart of Kings Cross- and an absolute gem – a wonderful place to Wild Sketch! Join us for a real drawing adventure! **Sunday 14 June** **1.30-5pm** **£45** **A donation from your ticket will go to Camley Street Nature Park** **basic materials included- you may also bring your own materials if you have things you would like to try** [MORE INFO & BOOKING](https://londondrawing.com/product/wild-sketch-botanical-drawing-workshop-with-sisetta-zappone-sunday-14-june-2/) **Location:** **12 Camley Street, London N1C 4PW** **[Camley Street on the map](https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Camley+Street+Natural+Park,+London+Wildlife+Trust/@51.5350415,-0.1299739,17z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x48761b3d6934eb0d:0xddc55ba33cba1312!8m2!3d51.5350415!4d-0.1273936!16zL20vMGI2N2Yy?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDQyMS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D)**

NFT AI ART Columbus
NFT's are here to stay folks! This is a group for like minded people interested in understanding, leveraging, using, creating for, profiting from, trading too i suppose, NFT's.. everything around them, complexity, fear and exploits, best practices and more. **PLUS** This group will talk AI ART tools, techniques, artists, video, audio, prototypes and more in the AI assisted production space- ART specifically, but we can get into any aspect of some of the cooler things happening in AI in general.
Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that. We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.

Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code* Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD
Battle of the personal agents
Battle of the personal agents
Join the Columbus AI community for a special event. **Battle of the Personal Agents** is your chance to see what people are actually building with AI agents and personal automation systems. Whether you’re running OpenClaw, Hermes, or a completely custom solution, bring your agent and show the community how it works. We’re interested in real-world implementations: the problems your agent solves, how you use it day-to-day, how it’s hosted and managed, how you built it, and why you’ve chosen to keep using it. Live demonstrations are encouraged, so be prepared to show your code, architecture, workflows, and your agent performing real tasks. This is less about polished presentations and more about sharing practical experience, comparing approaches, and learning from one another. If you’d like to present, please contact Chris Slee (via meetup) before the event so we can allocate enough time for everyone’s demonstrations. Come ready to show what you’ve built, discover what others are doing, and maybe find a few ideas worth taking home. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
