Monday Tabletop Games at The Golden Lion Pub
It's **Monday** which means the fun and games are at **The Golden Lion Pub**, Romford, tonight!
Come join us & meet like minded gamers & new & old friends for a bit of board gaming, RPG, card gaming or Wargaming fun 🎲
Bring your own games or grab one from our selection of over 100 games & play while you enjoy a drink & some pub grub 🦁
🎟 For full access to our club & all it's games, we ask that each attendee give a suggested donation of a £1 entry fee at both our venues. This is just £1 per person, per night.

We have a fund in place if you are struggling financially though so please ask us and we will cover you no problem 🙂
At the Lion, you will find an "Honesty Box" attached to the side of our games shelf so please put your entry fee in there.
We thank you hugely for your support.
⚠️ Lastly, the Golden Lion are extremely generous to us by giving us their function room every single Monday. With that in mind, please look after the space. Please take glasses down with you & clear all your rubbish & if you move tables & chairs, please put them back the way you found them at the end of the night 🙏

If you are new to the group we recommend you message an organizer to ensure you have a table to play on. Our members are friendly and helpful if you are new to the game so do not worry about knowing all the rules! We recommend bringing a set of polyhedral dice and a pen/pencil. But we have plenty of spares you may borrow on the night if you don't have any.
We host our games in a shared campaign spread across 3-5 tables of players. each table has 1 DM (dungeon master) who runs the game for you and a fellow 3-7 players on the table alongside you out on a quest!
Quests last for 3 sessions and then the tables mix again with new player groups and possibly new DMs. How does this all work? You'll have to pop down and see. THE QUESTLY SQUIDS NEED YOU!

BPRD Game 1 and 2 - Carthage Carnage Park.
Join us for Games 1 and 2 of our ongoing LARP series set in a BPRD‑inspired Hellboy universe. If you’ve ever wanted to try Live Action Role Playing, this is an ideal moment to jump in.
Agents have disappeared while investigating reports that one of the UK’s eeriest historical theme parks may be genuinely haunted. A second team of enhanced operatives has now been dispatched to uncover the truth.
Players will take on the role of BPRD agents sent to Carthage. If you plan to attend, please let us know — we tailor character backgrounds for everyone, and early notice helps us prepare something fun and personal for you.
We’re a friendly hobby group that always welcomes new players. You can find more information about who we are and what we do on our website:
[Furthest Frontiers - About - FURTHEST FRONTIERS](https://lotna-larp.co.uk/about.html)
If you RSVP, we’ll get in touch to guide you through character creation and explain what to expect on the day.
The site is accessible by car, and we can also arrange pickups from Longfield Station. A group meets at 8:45 at Victoria Mainline Station to catch a train together.
The cost for a one‑day game is **£20**, which helps us cover venue and equipment expenses.
Blood on the Clocktower @OtterChaos
Join OverBoard to play the brilliant social deduction game Blood on the Clocktower in person at the brand new board game cafe Otter Chaos in Brixton.
If you haven’t heard of Blood on the Clocktower before it is an evolution of classic party games like Mafia/Werewolf where a hidden evil team takes on the good team by lying and killing. The good team has a few tricks up their sleeve but will have to work together to deduce who the evil doers are in their midst.
**This is a beginner friendly event so no experience with the game is necessary.**
Please note that a gaming cover charge of \~£5 will be payable by each attendee to the venue so that we can make use of the space. We also encourage you to buy food and drink from the bar so we are supporting the business (I can highly recommend their pizzas!)
If you want to know more about the rules of the game check out this video:

Book Bedazzling (BYOB) - Bloodguard by Cecy Robson
Let's bedazzle some books while we discuss our April pick: Bloodguard by Cecy Robson!
Book description:
One hundred years. Tens of thousands of gladiators. And today, only one will rise…
Everything in the Kingdom of Arrow is a lie.
Leith of Grey thought coming to this new land and volunteering to fight in the gladiator arena—vicious, bloodthirsty tournaments where only the strongest survive—would earn him enough gold to save his dying sister. He thought there was nothing left to lose.
He was wrong—and they took everything. His hope. His freedom. His very humanity.
All Leith has left is his battle-scarred body, fueled by rage and hardened from years of fighting for the right to live another day.
Then Leith meets Maeve, an elven royal who is everything he despises. Everything he should hate. Until the alluring princess offers him the one thing he needs most: a chance to win the coveted title of Bloodguard—and his freedom.
But in a kingdom built on secrets and lies, hope doesn’t come cheap.
Nor will his ultimate revenge…
Event:
Please bring your own book, journal, bookmarks, etc to bedazzle. If you have bedazzling supplies, please bring them as well. I will supply gems, glue, and picker tools, but if you have certain colors in mind, you may want to bring your own.
Drunken
This month's prompt concerns the idea of the “warrior philosopher” (seemed appropriate in these times)--that is someone whose understanding of violence, power, and justice is forged through direct experience of war. We are looking at Major General Smedley D. Butler, a highly decorated U.S. Marine raised in a Quaker (pacifist) tradition who later became a prominent critic of American militarism (there is a wonderful biography of Gen. Butler called "Gangsters of Capitalism")
Butler's argument in *War Is a Racket* (1935): that many U.S. interventions were driven less by national defense than by corporate and financial interests, with Butler portraying himself as an enforcer for business and Wall Street. We can consider the moral ambiguity of his insider critique—whether complicity strengthens or undermines credibility and also consider some of the concrete reforms he proposed (e.g., “conscript” capital before soldiers, restrict the military to coastal defense, and have only those who fight decide on war).
Butler’s life arc clearly changed from pacifist upbringing to warrior to antiwar crusader—and asks whether true understanding of peace requires firsthand knowledge of war, and what that implies about the cost of suffering. So do we need to suffer to understand suffering? Do we have to experience war to appreciate peace? As one more question: in the movie "A Few Good Men" Jack Nicholson's character says that "you have the luxury of not knowing what I know" so do most of us go through life oblivious to real violence and suffering? See you at Drunken Philosophy!
