Among the most amazing natural wonders of the world, the mountains of the national forest park of Zhangjiajie rank so high that they even **inspired famous film director James Cameron**. In fact, one of them has even been renamed after one of Cameron's blockbusters: It is now called **Avatar Hallelujah Mountain**. Here, in south central China, we won't need much fantasy, we will find ourselves in a different world all the way through. So welcome to the real Avatar! The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a **UNESCO World Heritage Site** located in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Prominent in the park are the pillar-like formations, often depicted in ancient Chinese paintings, resembling karst terrain but not formed by limestone dissolution. Instead, they've been shaped over time by physical erosion, notably from expanding ice in winter and plant growth. It might come as a surprise to us UAE residents, but the park is also home to the **world's longest and highest pedestrian glass bridge** as well as the "hundred dragons sky lift" (Bailong Elevator), the world's tallest outdoor lift. In Avatar's footsteps, we will have the chance to reconnect with nature's primal energy while hiking in the most awe-inspiring scenery of the Grand Canyon, The Golden Whip Stream and the Ten Mile Gallery. Towering peaks, deep valleys, and mist-shrouded cliffs, will offer a **glimpse into the ethereal beauty** that has inspired countless artists and poets throughout history. But what would a trip to fantasy land be without exploring mysterious caves? With a massive size of 48 ha, the Huanglong Cave stretches over some 15 km; the highest of its three waterfalls reaching 50 m. If otherworldly impressions are your pair of shoes, here is one for the **Avatar mountains floating in the clouds.** **Let’s go!** **Day 0** Meeting at airport at 22:00 for a flight to Beijing. **Day 1** Arrival to Beijing, immigration clearance. Given the transfer time allows, short visit in **Ti’an men square** **and Forbidden City**. Connecting flight to Zhangjiajie, transfer to hotel and overnight. **Day 2** Prepare for an exhilarating day exploring Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. We'll begin by ascending via **cableway to Huangshizhai**, where breathtaking views await. After taking in the panorama, we'll embark on a hike down, immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of the area. Later, we'll venture into the enchanting surroundings of **Golden Whip Stream**, where tranquil waters and towering sandstone pillars create a serene atmosphere perfect for exploration. **Day 3** Today we ascend the **Bailong Elevator to Yuangjiajie**, where we'll be greeted by stunning views of the towering pillar-like rock formations which provided inspiration for the otherworldly scenery in the movie Avatar. There are dense woods, fragrant flowers and grotesque rocks in this valley, true natural art gallery. Later on, we'll explore the landscapes of the Ten-Mile Gallery with its 200 rocks vividly mimic profiles of human and animals. **Day 4** Lace up your hiking boots for an unforgettable trek through the majestic **Grand Canyon** of Zhangjiajie. We will cross longest and **highest glass-bottomed bridge** in the world, 430m long, 6m wide, suspended 300m above the valley floor. Built among high mountains and a gorge, it also has a bungee platform in the center. Further on, we head inside the depths of **Huanglong Cave**, where stunning rock formations and underground waterfalls awaits for a charming glimpse on the underworlds. **Day 5** Our trip could not be concluded without visiting two iconic landmarks. First, we'll take in the serene beauty of **Baofeng Lake**, nestled amidst lush forests and towering peaks. Then, we'll ascend the summit of **Tianmen Mountain via cable car**. It will not be easy to bid farewell to Zhangjiajie as we transfer to the airport for flight to Beijing, overnight in Beijing. **Day 6** Check out early in the morning and transfer to the **Great Wall of China**. Our trip to Beijing would, of course, not be complete without enjoying the **famous Peking Duck for lunch**. There are cities that grow slowly, block by block, and then there is Chongqing, a place that seems to have been **designed by a dragon with a passion for bridges, neon lights, and vertical chaos**. Built where the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers meet, Chongqing rises in layers of towers, staircases, hidden lanes, and roads that appear to ignore conventional geometry. Here, trains pass through apartment buildings, streets sit above other streets, and maps become more of a suggestion than a rule. Yet beneath the modern frenzy lies an old mountain city of teahouses, river traders, and fiercely proud cuisine. **It is less a destination and more an event.** From this urban theatre, the road leads south to Wulong Karst National Geology Park, where nature appears to have worked on a grand scale with no interest in moderation. **Limestone bridges as tall as skyscrapers arc across deep valleys, caves open like cathedral doors,** and cliffs plunge into green shadows far below. Waterfalls slip from the rock face, mist curls through the ravines, and every turn looks suspiciously like a film set, because some of it actually was. This is the kind of landscape that leaves hikers speechless and photographers convinced they need just one more shot. **If Chongqing is human imagination unleashed, Wulong is the earth’s imagination revealed.** Further east, the Yangtze narrows and the land tightens into the legendary Three Gorges. Near Fengjie stands **Baidi City, perched above the river will make you think a visionary had perfect location in mind.** Temples, pavilions, and ancient stone paths overlook waters that have carried merchants, poets, generals, and no doubt a few people who took the wrong boat. This is a landscape where history does not sit in museums, it hangs in the mist and echoes in the cliffs. Then comes Wushan, gateway to one of the most dramatic corners of the gorges. Mountains rise sharply from the riverbanks, clouds gather theatrically, and ridgelines stretch into the distance like the spine of some sleeping giant. Here the famous **Dragon Spine hike** traces narrow heights above the Yangtze, rewarding brave legs with grand views and mildly offended calves. Continue to Jiefangbei CBD, the energetic commercial heart of the city, before sampling the fragrant chaos of Bayi Road Food Street. Later, stroll along Daijiaxiang Walkway for skyline views that seem designed for cinema. End the evening at Hongya Cave, glowing above the river like an ancient palace that discovered electricity. **Day 2 :: Chongqing – Wulong** Travel into the countryside where the city’s neon drama gives way to geological theatre. At Wulong Karst National Geology Park, vast limestone landscapes rise with the confidence of monuments built by time itself. Explore the celebrated Three Natural Bridges, colossal arches spanning deep valleys with almost unnecessary grandeur.
