Hi everyone! On **Sunday, March 22nd**, 2026, I am planning a long hike to the Troppbergwarte in the Wienerwald. The Troppbergwarte (542m) is a publicly accessible lookout tower. It’s a bit scary as you can see trough the steps down. If more than 10 people want to go to the lookout, then we have to form two groups, because a maximum of 10 people are allowed at the same time and we don't want to tear down the lookout tower. The hiking route will start at Rekawinkel train station and leads through slightly hilly forest in the Wienerwald and will end at the train station in Purkersdorf. **Meeting Point & Travel** We will meet at **Wien-Westbahnhof train station at 08:40 am at the latest** near the Infopoint. We will go to platform 4 at 8:45 am There is ticketmachine nearby and plenty of seats (see also the photo down below). The train leaves at 8:56 am at platform 4. If it’s better for you, you can also get on the train at another station. Then we meet altogether at Rekawinkel train station at 9:31 am. As Rekawinkel train station is not so far from Vienna a group ticket does not pay off. So **everyone has to buy their own ticket to Rekawinkel train station.** **Hike Details** Duration: approx. **6,5 hours** (walking time and breaks) Distance: approx. **17km** Elevation: **530 m up / 650 m down** Difficulty: **Technically easy**, but **basic fitness required** Since we will not stop at any restaurant, everyone has to bring their own snack. We will make a few breaks for eating and drinking. A long 30 break minute is planed after three hours at about 12:30 at the lookout tower. Be aware, that there are no public toiletts on the way. Please be aware that there are no public toilets on the entire hiking route. So if you need to answer the call of nature and you think you have found a suitable spot, the group will advance for a few minutes and then wait for you or you can use the breaks to make your way into the forest. The expected end of the hike is at about 4 pm at Purkersdorf Zentrum train station, where there is also a ticket vending machine. There are trains bound to Wien Westbahnhof every 10 to 20 minutes. **Spring Kickoff Ride:** Let’s welcome the new season with a friendly, no-pressure group ride for all levels. We’ll begin with a quick intro, then roll out on a scenic, completly flat route—perfect for easing back in after the winter. **Donauinsel upstream (south bank):** From the starting point, we cycle onto the Donauinsel and follow the cycle path upstream in a westerly direction. The route leads along the south bank of the Donauinsel, which is characterized by its quiet and green surroundings. Here we can enjoy nature as we cycle parallel to the Neue Donau. **West end of the Donauinsel (Langenzersdorf):** After about 10 kilometers, we reach the western end of the Donauinsel, which is located near Langenzersdorf. Here we take a short break of a few minutes, enjoy the view of the Danube and fortify ourselves for the return journey. **Return via the north bank:** For the return journey, we switch to the north bank of the Donauinsel. The cycle path takes us back downstream towards Kaisermühlen. Im Liechtenstein Gartenpalais läuft derzeit eine internationale Ausstellung, die sich erstmals genauer mit den Dynamiken des Kunstmarkts beschäftigt – also zum Beispiel mit Marktplätzen, Verkaufsstrategien und der Preisgestaltung. In der Ausstellung zeigen die Sammlungen des Fürsten von Liechtenstein, wie sich der europäische Kunsthandel entwickelt hat: von der Antike über die italienischen Stadtstaaten der Renaissance bis zum Goldenen Zeitalter der Niederlande und den spektakulären Präsentationen und transatlantischen Verkäufen im 19.
