Sofia Crypto Meetup - Navigating the Bear Market
Crypto winter?

Hosted By
Velizar Borisov, Atlassian Administrator
Boriana Todorova, Community Leader
I'm a senior technology leader with 20+ years of experience in quality assurance, process improvement, project delivery, and organizational transformation. I specialize in building high-performing teams, and bridging the gap between business goals and tech execution.
My mission is simple:
I help systems and people work better — starting with myself, and never stopping at “good enough.”
I thrive where complexity meets urgency — whether it's redesigning inefficient workflows, elevating engineering culture, or aligning delivery with long-term value. I bring a strong foundation in internal auditing practices, ensuring that systems are not only efficient but also aligned with key compliance and quality standards like ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 — without losing sight of the human side of work.
I’ve also developed a strong interest in artificial intelligence — not just as a tool, but as a transformational force. I’m exploring how AI can enhance quality, automate the right parts of work, and help us build more adaptive, intelligent systems that serve both business and society responsibly.
I believe the future of tech depends not just on innovation, but on responsibility, empathy, and structure that serves both people and planet.

**Important Notes**
This trip is ideal for beginners to snowshoeing with a good level of fitness and some experience of mountain hikes. Hiking boots with ankle protection and proper winter clothing are essential. Snowshoes require hiking boots to attach securely.
**ITINERARY**
**Friday**
Arrive at Sofia Airport and transfer to Panichishte – a peaceful mountain resort nestled at 1,350m on the edge of Rila National Park. Surrounded by ancient pine woods and dramatic landscapes, our mountain hotel offers stunning views of the snowy peaks. After check-in, enjoy a warm traditional Bulgarian dinner and relax before the winter magic begins.
**Saturday**
Hike: Skakavitsa Waterfall (1750m)
Grading: [Intermediate](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/HikeGradings.pdf)
Hiking time: 4 to 5 hours
After breakfast, we strap on our snowshoes and begin our journey into the magical winter landscape, following the gentle flow of the Skakavitsa River. We trek through ancient conifer forests, feeling the snow crunch beneath our feet as sunlight filters through frosted branches, the air crisp and filled with the soothing sound of running water.
Our destination is the majestic Skakavitsa Waterfall thundering 70 meters through a cathedral of centuries-old white pine forests. In winter, its cascading waters freeze into a stunning curtain of glistening ice, surrounded by the silence of winter – a true playground for ice climbers and a breathtaking sight for adventurers.
Return to our cozy hotel in Panichishte for a well-earned evening of relaxation and warm dinner.
**Sunday**
Hike: Seven Rila Lakes
Grading: [Intermediate](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/HikeGradings.pdf)
Hiking time: 4 to 5 hours
Today, we set off to explore one of the most iconic places in Bulgaria – the Seven Rila Lakes. Nestled between sharp, rocky ridges at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, these stunning glacial lakes sparkle like gems in the alpine landscape. After a scenic chairlift ride with sweeping views of the snow-covered peaks, we begin our snowshoe hike through this breathtaking glacial valley.
Each lake carries a poetic name reflecting its unique character: Salzata ("The Tear") with its crystal-clear waters, Okoto ("The Eye") as the deepest cirque lake in Bulgaria, Babreka ("The Kidney") with its steep shores. In winter, these lakes transform into a frozen wonderland, their surfaces a glittering canvas of white and blue. Local legend speaks of two giants, lovers turned to stone, whose endless grief created these pristine waters – a romantic tale that adds mystical depth to our adventure.
In the evening, we'll transfer to Sofia, where our guided trip ends and you'll have a free evening to self explore Bulgaria's vibrant capital nightlife - a city where ancient Roman ruins, Ottoman mosques, and modern boulevards coexist in harmonious contrast.
**Monday**
After breakfast, enjoy some free time to self explore Sofia at your own pace - wander through ancient ruins, visit bustling markets, or admire the stunning mix of mosques, cathedrals, and modern architecture. Then take a short metro ride or taxi to the airport for your flight back home.

*Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation*
Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification.
You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written.
This talk will cover:
--What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t)
--How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows
--Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development
--Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence
Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects.

DoJo (Informal Python Meeting)
**New Dojo Location!**
**Draft Day Columbus**
1130 Dublin Road
Columbus, OH 43215
We're going to try a new dojo location for a few weeks and see how it works
Dojos are informal Python group study sessions where everyone interested in Python gathers to learn about Python, help others with Python, or just hang out. Everyone is welcome from Python beginners to experts. Bringing a laptop is encouraged (we'll have extension cords and power strips). If there's something you want to learn leave a comment on this invite so we can plan ahead.
We're looking for topic suggestions and people interested in presenting at our monthly meetings. To this end we've set up a survey form at [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15eBKF1nQQ2XS5gzD4rvhVRHMBEj7lJtHuA9wXupS3Uc](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15eBKF1nQQ2XS5gzD4rvhVRHMBEj7lJtHuA9wXupS3Uc)
