Retreat - Another world is possible with Ven. Amy Miller
Retreat - Another world is possible with Ven. Amy Miller
**For this retreat you need to register via our website: https://www.maitreya.nl/nl/programma/another-world-is-possible** **Another world is possible with Ven. Amy miller** **Green Tara Practice as a Path of Compassion in Action** Our external world today often appears littered with division, violence, and alienation. Rather than grow dismayed by external experiences that show cruelty and heartlessness, let us explore how our vulnerability can become a source of resilience and positive change. This long weekend retreat offers a meaningful pause, a chance to reconnect with inner strength, inner wisdom and compassion. The beautiful Green Tara practice explores a path of inner transformation by being present with our pain, fear, and aversion. This retreat incorporates Lam Rim (Stages of the Path) meditation along with the sadhana and mantra recitation of Green Tara. By opening our hearts in kindness to ourselves and others, the potential exists for our external reality to shift more beneficially as well. Join us for this nourishing long weekend of practice, reflection, and renewal—and become part of a shared path of compassion that brings benefit both within and beyond ourselves. Venerable Amy Miller is a beloved spiritual teacher, practitioner and Buddhist nun in the Tibetan tradition. She has dedicated her life to sharing the profound teachings of Buddhism with the world. With her gentle presence, insightful wisdom and compassionate heart, she has touched the lives of many around the world, inspiring them to find inner peace and help transform their minds. For more information about Ven. Amy Miller, [click here](https://www.maitreya.nl/nl/leraren/ven-amy-miller). You can join this retreat at our beautiful Buddhist Retreat Center in the greens - Loenen (Apeldoorn) and online.
\-\-\-\- PS. The event is largely in Dutch, with a keynote and perhaps 1 or 2 talks in English. If you can follow spoken Dutch you're good to go (attendees probably happy to chat in English during breaks), but if you don't then it's possibly best to stay tuned for our upcoming Meetups which are quite often English-first.
DDD Aggregates & Your ORM
DDD Aggregates & Your ORM
**DDD Aggregates & Your ORM** **By Matthias Noback** Over time you've created lots of data models that are mapped to tables in your relational database. Now you want to untangle the "mess" using Domain-Driven Design practices and patterns. This is very exciting; you're planning to separate your business domain into smaller subdomains, implemented by so-called Bounded Contexts, with explicit boundaries. But you are using an ORM, and the ORM knows about Entities, but it doesn't care about Bounded Contexts. It allows you (and often requires you) to link remote concepts in the code, ruining those boundaries you imagined... In this presentation, we'll explore the real-world problems you'll run into when trying to apply Domain-Driven Design patterns in an average framework/ORM-oriented code base. We cover central DDD concepts, and indicate potential conflicts with the way frameworks and ORMs treat your data model. Of course, we'll also consider work-arounds and solutions. **PROGRAM** 18:00 - Doors open, pizza and drinks **19:00 - Talk & discussion** 20:00 - Drinks & networking **ABOUT** 🤝 This meetup is **free**. 🍕 Food and drinks are provided at **no cost**. 🇬🇧 The presentation is in **English**. 📸 We might take pictures at the event, to upload to the meetup page and the Full Stack socials. 📍[Europalaan 40, 3526 KS Utrecht, Avenue Building - 3rd floor (PAQT Office)](https://maps.app.goo.gl/EJdxchKTEoLuc5UeA) **ABOUT THE HOST** PAQT.com devises, builds, and maintains software from a business perspective. They develop software so organizations can evolve. For good software improves life. That’s the vision they commit to every day.

Workshop: Build a Bird Detector
Get your ticket here: [https://ccu.stager.co/shop/default/events/111659793?utm_campaign=build-a-bird&utm_source=meetup](https://ccu.stager.co/shop/default/events/111659793?utm_campaign=build-a-bird&utm_source=meetup) Build your own bird detector! Learn step by step to build a fully customised animal sounds monitoring device, trained on a local dataset. This workshop is for bird nerds, sound wizards, and for those who are into DYI and low-tech solutions. New to all this? That’s great: coding experience is useful, but not required. The workshop will be based on the bird detector developed by Matteo Marangoni for the project Chorusing Symbionts. Matteo Holyoke Marangoni combines music with visual art, theatre, and new technologies. He develops robotic instruments and artificial creatures to compose spaces in which sound is experienced with the whole body and all the senses. His work draws inspiration from animal communication, bioacoustics, and ecoacoustics, exploring how sound can mediate relationships between humans, machines, and other life forms, and proposing embodied and ecological notions of intelligence, consciousness and subjecthood. 🎫 Regular €40/Student €20 - [get your ticket here](https://ccu.stager.co/shop/default/events/111659793?utm_campaign=build-a-bird&utm_source=meetup)
Nature Hike Blauwe Kamer Rhenen (18 km) - FULL
Nature Hike Blauwe Kamer Rhenen (18 km) - FULL
This hike is one you don’t want to miss! It offers a lot of variety on a relatively short distance. From train station Rhenen, we will cross the river and walk along it for a while, until we cross it again by ferry, taking us to the beautiful wetlands of the ‘Blauwe Kamer’, where we might encounter all kinds of wildlife. After a break, we will continue to climb the Grebbeberg, a 52 meter peak in the hilly forest, towering above the river. We will then return to Rhenen, with the option of visiting this pittoresque old town. **Where to meet**: we will meet at **10.30am** at train station Rhenen. This train station can be reached by Sprinter train from Utrecht Centraal. **This hike is fully booked.** [You may register for a place on the waitlist on my website.](https://rewildyourself.nu/dutch-nature-hikes/)
10km hike from Utrecht Zuilen to Maarssen along the river Vecht
10km hike from Utrecht Zuilen to Maarssen along the river Vecht
For our next hike we'll be following a beautiful 10 km route starting at Utrecht Zuilen train station and ending at Maarssen train station. On the way we'll be walking along the river Vecht, passing by Slot Zuilen. Will you join? Utrecht Hiking Community aims to organise one hike per month in the Utrecht Region. Anyone is welcome to join, no matter whether you're a beginner or an experienced hiker, a local or an expat, a professional or a student, as long as you bring a good mood. We are not about fast hiking, but about social hiking: being active, exploring places, meeting like-minded people and just generally having a fun walk. We'll be starting from Utrecht Zuilen train station at 10.30AM. This time we won't be following a circular route, which means we won't end at our starting point, but we'll end at Maarssen train station instead. Those who want to return to Utrecht Zuilen train station afterwards, can easily get back with a direct train. Please try to arrive to Utrecht Zuilen on time. We'll start our hike at 10.30AM and won't let the whole group wait for you in case you're arriving later. Only in case the train from Utrecht Centraal scheduled to arrive at Utrecht Zuilen at 10.22AM has some delay, we'll wait for that train to arrive. If you're arriving after we have departed, you can send a message on WhatsApp to +31621177691, so we can share our location with you and you can try to catch up with us. Utrecht Zuilen train station doesn't have a toilet, so please use a restroom before you arrive. The route is going mostly over paved roads, so please wear good shoes. Also, please bring something to drink for on the way and use SPF if it'll be a sunny day. Dogs are allowed on the route, but need to be kept on a leash on parts of the route. For those coming by car, we recommend to park at the free P+R at Maarssen train station (address: Safariweg) and take the 10.03 train to Utrecht Zuilen from there. Near Utrecht Zuilen there's only paid parking. After the walk, those who want can join for lunch/drinks at the Bisonspoor shopping center near Maarssen train station. Since we do make some costs while organising our hikes (MeetUp subscription, travel expenses), a small donation would be very much appreciated. You can do so by following this link: [https://www.ing.nl/payreq/m/?trxid=kwOxuGxX6dgPI3EL51ycNmCmcftr7OaB](https://www.ing.nl/payreq/m/?trxid=kwOxuGxX6dgPI3EL51ycNmCmcftr7OaB) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. See you on Saturday 13th of June at Utrecht Zuilen train station!
