Goodge Street Picture Hunt
**Picture Hunt Meetup:** **Goodge St station. At the exit.**
Picture Hunt length: 270 metres.
Quiz Finish: Magnus Pyke or local pub.
"Goodge Street Tube Station is a historic underground station located in the heart of London. Originally opened in 1906, it was one of the first stations to be built on the Central Line of the London Underground. Over the years, Goodge Street has played an important role in the development of the city and has become a landmark destination for tourists and locals alike.
The station itself underwent a major renovation in the 1920s, which saw the addition of new escalators and a redesigned platform layout. It was also during this time that the station began to gain popularity as a meeting place for local poets, writers, and artists. Many of these individuals would gather in the stationās coffee shop to discuss their work and collaborate on new projects."
Picture Hunts are a great new way to get up to speed with slices of London history while sleuthing around the area.
Everyone is presented with twenty partial photos of objects around an area. Your team mission is to find them. Some well known, some well unknown!
This makes Picture Hunts more interesting and challenging, bringing out the best of your teams detecting skills.
You will also have a map of the area. It will be sub-divided into four sections, P, Q, R, S. Each photo will come from one of these.
Four players max per team, but the lower number teams get a point per player start from the biggest team.
For example, four teams of one, two, three and four. Four player team, no advantage, (the biggest and theoretically the more knowledge between them, except it doesn't always work like that). Three player team, one point start. Two player team, two point start. One player team, three point start.
Scores are always close and around the 15-20 points mark. How many players do you want in your team? There's a dilemma!
The clipboard holder enters one of the letters to note its area location. Dead simple, right? 90 minutes to do the hunt.
We have the usual prizes of chocolate, including some great new varieties.
There is also an equal prize for the funniest team name judged by Sue, my glamorous assistant. Names win prizes too! So thereās everything to play for.
We mark up at the quiz finish point. Tbc.
Hunts are good fun and the proven experience so far is that members get to know each other better after working in teams as you all have to communicate. Great icebreakers. This is what Meetup is all about. Come and join us.
**There is a £7 cash/card charge for this event. Pay on the day.**
Contact number on the day is 07422334411 if your transport is delayed.

Long award-winner: Shuggie Bain (2020) by Douglas Stuart
*Shuggie Bain is the Booker prize winning debut novel by Scottish-American writer Douglas Stuart. It tells the story of the youngest of three children, Shuggie, growing up with his alcoholic mother Agnes in 1980s post-industrial working-class Glasgow, Scotland.*
If you've been before and would like to help pay for the Meetup group, you can contribute "Ā£1-2" per meeting (now collected around Dec & Jun). This optional payment does not apply to your first meeting and no-one is turned away for lack of funds.
General plan: by 7pm some of us should be in the upstairs room at the pub but we usually start by discussing books to read in future in case anyone arrives late. Typically we'll talk about the book until after 8pm, when there's a short break to go to the bar, then any further discussion till after 9, though of course you can leave at any point.
The Shirker's Rest takes cards, not cash, and serves a range of soft drinks, wine and spirits in addition to their beer and cider selection [https://theshirkersrest.co.uk/drinks/ ](https://theshirkersrest.co.uk/drinks/)\- they don't have a kitchen but encourage you to order from [https://yardsalepizza.com/menu/](https://yardsalepizza.com/menu/) ..!

Day trip to Suffolk Villages
Suffolk is an area of eastern England that is not often visited by students. This is mainly because not many of the places are particularly famous. But this region contains some beautiful towns and villages with old buildings which were important historically and this is a lovely place to spend the day.
We start by travelling to the town of Bury St. Edmunds, whose abbey was once one of the richest in the country. Later on we go to Lavenham, a village with some beautiful old buildings which was once an important wool town.
This is a chance to spend some time away from the busy city to see a quiter, more traditional side of England.
The price includes train fare to Bury St. Edmunds and bus to Lavenham and guided walks of both places.

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation donāt just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
