Life, Literature and Wine - A Conversational Salon
Life, Literature and Wine - A Conversational Salon
**NEW LOCATION - THE GROVE** (MOPAC & Spicewood Springs Road) Come join a lively conversation while sipping some wonderful wines and sharing delicious appetizers with fellow compatriots who long to discuss life, love, literature and anything else that strikes our fancy. The salon will meet once a month on the second Monday of the month. Each conversation session will be hosted by one of the members of the group whose job will be to stimulate and manage the discussion. Participants will be encouraged to share in the conversation, and expand their creativity through listening, speaking and sometimes writing. Thank you to Janet for facilitating an informative and inspiring conversation in February about our National Parks. We shared about our own adventures in the parks and encouraged one another to explore more. This March Mahani will lead a discussion about what it is to be an 'American Global Citizen'. Wines and appetizers are moderately priced at The Grove. "Our distant relatives gathered around the fire. Since then, most cultures have had some form of social form like the salon. It's just basic to being human - people need to get together and talk over the things they care about and believe in." *Salons: the Joy of Conversation by Jaida Sandra, Jon Spayde and the Editors of the Utne Reader* The objective of the salon is to encourage creativity, involvement, and participation in Austin's lively and energetic art and culture, and stimulate our own creativity.

6.6-mile Brushy Creek Regional Trail Evening Hike @ Cedar Park [🔦 Recommended!]
6.6-mile Brushy Creek Regional Trail Evening Hike @ Cedar Park [🔦 Recommended!]
**IMPORTANT:** Due to construction at our previous meeting location which closed down the parking lot we've temporarily moved the starting location to **Brushy Creek Lake Park**. The relevant information has been updated to reflect this. Join us for our **recurring** scenic **6.6-mile (10.6-km)** evening at the Brushy Creek Regional Trail in Cedar Park! We’ll take a relaxed pace through one of the city’s most beautiful trails. The hike should take about **2 hours**. **ℹ️ Additional info** The purpose of this specific event is to have a recurring way for us to meet relatively easily. I want to make sure that recurring events are a "low effort" commitment, ie you don't have to drive 2 hours to get there. In the future once we have more organizers I plan to have more recurring events scheduled so we can cover a larger area. Also, you may have noticed that **this event has an RSVP limit**. This is done for multiple reasons. Not only to ensure that a large group is not disruptive to the rest of the Austin community on the trail, but also to allow us to prioritize the "meetup" experience for every attendee, as having +60 people may be overwhelming, and ultimately the goal of this group is to build a community, not just a collection of individuals that like a specific trail. **📍 Where to Meet** 2310 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613 Google Maps **exact meeting spot link**: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yAzHpoVQdXXAG3XD8 Route on **AllTrails**: [Will be added in the future] **🅿️ Parking** Parking is available directly at the parking lot close to where we'll meet. There will be enough space for everyone. **ℹ️ Recommendations** * Bring good shoes (Although the terrain isn't challenging and relatively flat) * Pack some water (More than you need, just in case) * Bring a friend! (That's my attempt at a shameless self-promo for the group. Although even if you don't, I am confident that you'll get along great with the people you'll meet at the event!) * A flashlight! Your phone is better than nothing, but a dedicated flashlight would only be of benefit of you as the sun sets! **👍 Good to know** * 🐶 Dog-friendly * 👨‍👩‍👧 Family-friendly * ♿ Wheelchair accessible **Event Etiquette (Important!)** * If you RSVP'd, but are unable to make it, please update your attendance as soon as possible. The attendance limit prevents new people from joining if we're at capacity otherwise. If we notice a pattern of you RSVPing to events and not showing up, you will be kicked from this group. * Please show up on time. We will start right at the indicated event time. This is to respect everyones time. If you're a few minutes late, it should not be an issue as the "intro" to the event may take 15 minutes or so, but we will not delay the start until you get there. * Other than that, I know all of you will help me make this group great for everyone. So thanks in advance for that! **Event itinerary** Below is the general outline of how the events are going to function * Updates since last event * Official introductions of everyone * Icebreaker question * The event itself * After event: * (As needed) Updates for next event(s) * Exchange goodbyes **🙂 I want your feedback!** I am working on making this description as informative as possible, if anything is missing, you have any recommendations or there are errors/mistakes, please reach out to me, thanks!
🐺 Ultimate Werewolf! 🐺
🐺 Ultimate Werewolf! 🐺
**Ultimate Werewolf** Do you enjoy lying through your teeth? Eating your friends? Leading a village to victory—or secretly founding a cult and converting it one zealot at a time? Then Ultimate Werewolf might be the game for you. **New Players Welcome** Newcomers are always welcome! We start with simpler games and gradually introduce more complex roles as everyone gets comfortable. If you have any questions, feel free to message me, leave a comment below, or join our **[Discord](https://discord.gg/KZWByXWD2t)**. **How the Game Works** In a basic game, players are secretly divided into two teams: **Villagers** and **Werewolves**. Each player receives a role card that tells them which team they’re on and whether they have special abilities. The game is played in rounds, each with a Day and Night phase: * **Day:** Players discuss, lie, accuse, and ultimately vote to execute one player. * **Night:** Players “sleep” with their eyes closed while special roles act in secret—werewolves eat, and other roles use their abilities. The first team (or unique role) to achieve its victory condition wins. With a strong emphasis on social interaction, deception, teamwork, and strategy—and over **50 different roles** supporting 20+ players—no two games are ever the same. **Variants & House Rules** Throughout the night I run a variety of house rules that dramatically shake up the game. Over the years, I’ve also created several custom roles, including fan favorites like The Baker and The Devil. Games typically run 15–40 minutes, depending on player count and rule set. We aim to keep things moving at a good pace so we can play 4-5 full games each event. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! **Meetup Fees & Venmo** Please consider helping us cover our $300 annual Meetup subscription costs by donating a few $ to our group's [Venmo](https://i.imgur.com/k6rCdr7.png). Thank you!

Bad Girls Book Club March 2026
Bad Girls Book Club March 2026
**Our March pick is *God of the Woods* by Liz Moore.** **This month’s novel is an award-winning literary mystery that blends family drama with psychological suspense. It explores women’s voices and relationships while delivering an exciting, eerie, and deeply suspenseful story. The book is 576 pages in print or 14 hours and 35 minutes on audiobook.** Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found. As a panicked search begins, a thrilling drama unfolds. Chasing down the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the blue-collar community working in its shadow, Moore’s multi-threaded story invites readers into a rich and gripping dynasty of secrets and second chances. It is Liz Moore’s most ambitious and wide-reaching novel yet.
