June Stitch 'n Bitch
𧜠**Whatâs Stitch ânâ Bitch all about?**
Think of it as the sassier, yarnâcovered cousin of a book club â but with far fewer rules and far more laughter. Stitch ânâ Bitch is a global community built on the simple joy of making things with your hands *while* having a good old natter.
Whether youâre into knitting, crochet, embroidery, crossâstitch, weaving, or just aggressively untangling a ball of yarn you found at the bottom of a drawer, youâre in the right place. The crafts are the excuse â the banter is the real event.
Expect:
𧾠Stitches dropped, picked up, and occasionally sworn at
𪥠A mix of beginners, pros, and âI just like the vibesâ attendees
đŹ Chat ranging from wholesome catchâups to delightfully juicy gossip
đ The kind of easy, silly conversation that makes Monday nights feel a lot less Monday
Itâs cosy, itâs creative, itâs a little cheeky â and everyoneâs welcome to pull up a chair and join the chaos.
What to bring:
B.Y.O. yarn, knitting needles/ crochet hooks or whatever you use to craft.
Knitting/crochet or sewing patterns if applicable
Work in progress craft projects
Agenda:
Arrive to the Alexandra at 7pm, there will be a table booked. Come say hello and let's get crafting!

KUMIKO LAMP

**âââ**
**Course:** Intro to Japanese Joinery â Kumiko Woodwork Lamp
**Suitable for:** Absolute beginners. No prior experience in woodworking is required for this course.
**About:** This evening course shows you the basics of setting out and cutting the traditional Kumiko woodwork designs to create a lamp.
If you havenât already discovered the Japanese wood craft of Kumiko, you are in for a treat. Kumiko is a technique that uses no nails or hardware, just precise joints to keep furniture and even houses together. It is intricate and functional and a lot of fun to make. Using a small tool set and simple techniques this quiet craft can yield some spectacular pieces.
The traditional handicraft has been handed down for centuries but now artisans are taking the age-old concept and applying the designs to more modern-day household items.
This is an ideal follow up workshop from the Kumiko coaster one day workshop which introduces you to the basics of setting out and cutting the traditional designs. It is also suitable for confident beginners.
The Kumiko lamp uses traditional Japanese tools. The outer frame is created in walnut and the mini Kumiko screen is composed of cleverly cut bass wood to form a modern version of an ancient *Ijutsu* design. The small pieces are cut using an accurate shooting board and a sharp hand plane, then slid into place and backed with *Shoji* paper.
The designs for *Kumiko* pieces arenât chosen randomly. In fact, many of the nearly 200 patterns used today have been around since the Edo era (1603-1868). Each design has a meaning or is mimicking a pattern in nature that is thought to be a good omen. The designs are not just pretty, they also distribute light and wind in a calming and beautiful way.
It may look complicated but in reality, like all woodwork â itâs just a series of steps. Give it a try â you may do better than you expect.
Auram Desforges, who grew up working on wood frame houses with his father in Canada has devised this elegant lamp.
This course is held over 6 evenings and is particularly suitable for those who have completed the one day [Kumiko coaster](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/kumiko-coasters/) workshop.
The use of all tools, materials and LED tea light is included.
The dimensions of the finished lamp is 132mmH x 132mmD x 132mmW.

Pitch.London - Founder Matchmaking & Speed Problem Solving
Pitch.london is a curated speed-networking event for founders, operators and serious builders.
Short, structured conversations. Sharp prompts. Real chemistry, fast.
The hardest problem in early-stage entrepreneurship is finding the right people. Most events leave it to chance. We donât.
The room is curated, the prompts are clear, and the format is built for high-signal encounters between people who are actually building something.
In one evening, you can meet more relevant people than you might in months of random networking.
Two formats. One room. Zero fluff.
**01\. Founder matchmaking pitches**
Sixty seconds to share who you are, what youâre building, and what would actually help right now.
Whatever youâre looking for, the room is built to help you find it: people to build with, people to hire or be hired by, advisors and investors, or honest feedback on what youâre shipping.
**02\. Group brainstorms**
Small, time-boxed groups tackle a real challenge brought into the room.
Bring a live problem youâre stuck on. Get five minds on it for ten minutes. Leave with new angles and next steps.
**This room is for you if youâre:**
* A founder seeking a co-founder
* A founder seeking a first hire
* An operator looking for a serious team to join
* A technical builder open to commercial partners
* A commercial builder open to technical partners
* A second-time founder scoping the next thing
* An angel investor close to the early-stage scene
Itâs probably not for you if youâre hunting for clients, selling services, or still working out what youâre looking for.

* 17:30 to 18:00 Doors, drinks, soft start
* 18:00 to 18:05 Welcome and the rules of the room

Black Stars in Dim Carcosa -Marco Visconti
Black Stars in Dim Carcosa is the definitive Necronomicon field notes, the bridge between the bookâs messy legend and the step-by-step reality of practice.
It begins with the strange, contested history of the Simon Necronomicon and the postmodern blend of Mesopotamian magick and Lovecraftian literary myth it helped unleash, then poses a blunt question: what does the grimoire actually teach, and what changes when you put it into practice with discipline?
At its core, this book offers a clear analysis of the Seven Gates and their operating logic, followed by step-by-step gatewalking practice, with practical attention to the Zonei, the Watcher and the Elder Signs, Mardukâs Fifty Names as operative keys, and the liminal cartography GANZIR and the Mauve Zone.
From there, it opens a second, parallel approach to Mythos-inspired magick through a repeatable Lost Carcosa visionary praxis, circling Hastur and the King in Yellow with an emphasis on integration. Along the way, it treats dread as an epistemology and tangential tantrums as usable data, those sideways eruptions that can mark real contact, real risk, and real initiation

Saturday Afternoon Life Drawing & Painting LONG POSE
This is just a studio session, with no Zoom.
We will have a life model in the same pose for three hours in the afternoon, usually for two consecutive weeks.
This is an untutored session run by a professional painter who will always be happy to give advice.
Other than model breaks, usually every 25 minutes, we break for tea and cake at 3.30pm for twenty minutes.
Our studio is divided up into workstations or âpositionsâ and whilst each position has a good view of the model many artists prefer to be front and centre. (Actually, you often get a more interesting composition to the side of the room).
You can also just turn up at the studio on spec and find a place to paint.
Our studio has a light and friendly atmosphere. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced painter, come and paint with us! We have a wonderful community of artists who join us each week.
Costs
From ÂŁ20 â ÂŁ25 per session
