HARD WOOD TREASURE BOX
**Bookable via our website ➡️** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/hard-wood-treasure-box-15/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/hard-wood-treasure-box-15/)
**⋆⋆⋆**
This is a content rich three-day course in a very small class size which includes:
* **Supervised use of woodwork machinery**. **(surface planer thicknesser, panel saw, table router, hand router and bandsaw.)**
* **Learning how to use jigs and rods**.
* **Solid wood carcass construction.**
From a technical drawing and a length of timber to the final sanding of the completed box, expert furniture maker and tutor, Marcin Waszak will guide each learner through all the steps needed to create this hardwood treasure box. The box measures 330mm x 304mm x 180mm and can be used to store lots of special things and perhaps become an heirloom!
The beautiful hardwood and veneers used for this project has been sourced and prepared from a sustainable woodyard. The course begins by explaining how to stay safe while using our professional and powerful woodworking machines. Marcin will talk you through the materials and tools you will be using and let you practice before beginning the project. We have created a cutting list so that each person can learn how to process the wood and begin making very quickly.
If you hanker to use some big machines and learn how to use jigs and to work accurately from plans, this is a great course for you.
**Steps to making your own Treasure Box:**
1. Student introductions, inspirations and knowledge.
2. Introduction to the project.
3. Health and Safety.
4. Understanding the materials and tools we will be using in this course (wood technology, proper usage of the tools, jigs).
5. Practice on how to use the tools and jigs in the workshop.
6. Cutting list.
7. Making.
Marcin says:
‘I will approach the sessions with a solid introduction not only to Health and Safety but to give an understanding of materials and tools. I believe it’s important to understand the nature of different types of wood and how it reacts (i.e. depending on variety, cut or thickness) when handling it, glueing or using different tools. There will be a great focus on how to use tools and machinery in the correct way for best results.
We will be starting from technical drawing explanation and introduction to the material and the design itself. I will love to know people’s backgrounds before we start the session so everyone will feel more comfortable and confident to work as a team.
I will have prepared a cutting list to make things easier and so we can start making (and having fun) as soon as possible.
I would like to make the sessions inclusive and provide a safe space for everyone. I always take people’s abilities into account and endeavour to be there for students that want to share their struggles in order to make the making experience something they can enjoy.’

The Riddle of the Sphinx
Below is the WhatsApp group for this event. You need to join it to find out where we are meeting.

**Solve the Mystery: The Riddle of the Sphinx**
Are you ready to look at history through a different lens? Join us for an immersive exploration of the world’s most famous enigma: **The Riddle of the Sphinx.**
This isn't just a dusty history lesson. We’re heading into the heart of the **British Museum** to decode ancient artefacts and uncover the hidden layers of meaning that most visitors walk right past.
**Why this matters to your path**
In the Cochranian and Regency traditions of Wicca—inspired by the teachings of Robert Cochrane—the Sphinx isn’t just a statue; it’s a key. We will explore:
* **The Sphinx's Secrets:** How the riddle informs modern Wiccan practice.
* **The Cochranian Tradition:** Bridging the gap between ancient myth and living magic.
***
**Is this for me ?**
Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just curious about the Craft, you're welcome!
* **No Prerequisites:** This "knot" (lesson) is part of our introductory series, but it stands perfectly well on its own.
* **New Members Welcome:** You don't need to have attended previous sessions to dive into this one.
Because we are hosting this within the British Museum, **spaces are strictly limited.** To ensure a high-quality experience for everyone, we have to stick to a firm capacity.
**How to Secure Your Spot:**
1. **Register via the App:** All our "knots" and curriculum materials are managed there.
2. **Join the WhatsApp Group:** This is our primary hub for logistics. If the first session fills up, we will coordinate a second date exclusively through this group.
3. **The Link:** Keep an eye on this space—the joining link will be posted here before the event.

Saturday Afternoon Life Drawing & Painting LONG POSE
This is just a studio session, with no Zoom.
We will have a life model in the same pose for three hours in the afternoon, usually for two consecutive weeks.
This is an untutored session run by a professional painter who will always be happy to give advice.
Other than model breaks, usually every 25 minutes, we break for tea and cake at 3.30pm for twenty minutes.
Our studio is divided up into workstations or ‘positions’ and whilst each position has a good view of the model many artists prefer to be front and centre. (Actually, you often get a more interesting composition to the side of the room).
You can also just turn up at the studio on spec and find a place to paint.
Our studio has a light and friendly atmosphere. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced painter, come and paint with us! We have a wonderful community of artists who join us each week.
Costs
From £20 – £25 per session

QG’s Miles and Smiles Monthly Walk - Greenwich to London Bridge
Meeting Location:
Greenwich Foot tunnel entrance by cutty Sark
What3words for the meeting location - ///owners.chip.drives
( or simply click the link - https://what3words.com/owners.chip.drives)
Meeting time: 10:30 AM.
We will gather for the QG's first walk by the entrance to the Iconic Greenwich foot tunnel next to Cuttysark and head west towards London Bridge where we aim to arrive in approx 2.5hrs covering approx 7 miles. Depending on the interest and weather there’s an option to plunder Borough market for some food before we depart our ways. For those who prefer a shorter walk can make use of the train/tube station along the walk too!
The entire walk will be along the Tamesis witnessing the remains of by gone era, from the glazed architecture of 21st century to half-timbering Tudor, cozy warehouse dwellings once symbolised the colonial trade, spot that set off the pilgrims to the so called free world, beaches of Bermondsey to creeks of Deptford, Rotherhithe tunnel to Tower bridge - Engineering marvels that challenges the time, and many more to spot on the day as we explore together!
Things that I usually consider for my walks:
Food and drink to get through the walk.
Water: Aleast two litres.
Day rucksack: That is comfortable to wear and allows free arm movements.
Walking Boots: waterproof and breathable. trainers are OK if the ground is dry.
Gaiters: recommended for wet weather conditions.
Socks: proper walking socks to keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters.
Layered clothing: helps to quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. A base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather additional outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers: Ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and on warm days shorts are OK.
Waterproof jacket: An essential in wet weather.
Hat or cap: stay warm in winter and shaded in summer
Sunglasses: Essential for any summer walk
Sun cream: when the weather dictates.
Note:
Please be advised this is a free, self-guided trip organised by a community group. All trip details, travel advice, and planning come from personal knowledge and suggestions and is not a professional service. The community group seeks to offer the space and opportunity to enjoy activities with others led by a host, but is not a guided tour in the business sense. While trips are planned with care, participants are entirely responsible for their own safety, as well as any travel, insurance and accommodation, (as necessary). The group and its organisers do not take responsibility for any injury, damage or loss of any kind. While we will do our upmost to provide trips which go ahead based on published plans and will seek to notify members of any changes to plans, it should be noted that trips may be confirmed or postponed short notice due to on weather conditions, logistical difficulties or any other reason for which the group and its organisers do not accept any loss be that financial or otherwise.
In agreeing to attend and/or attending a trip or part thereof you confirm understanding of and agreement to the above terms and conditions.
Tarot Minor Arcana Course 2 dates
[🎟️ Purchase Ticket Here 🎟️](https://dandelion.events/e/p31eh)
## TAROT MINOR ARCANA COURSE
In this course, we will explore the 56 Minor Arcana in depth, uncovering how they speak to the rhythms of everyday life from emotions and relationships to work, challenges, and personal growth.
We’ll approach the Minor Arcana through three core lenses:
* **Numerical Value:** understanding the progression from Ace to Ten as a journey, revealing cycles of initiation, development, tension, and completion
* **The Four Suits** : Cups, Swords, Wands, and Pentacles, each representing a different element and dimension of human experience (emotional, mental, creative, and material)
* **Archetypes & Symbolism:** learning to read beyond keywords and connect with the deeper patterns and stories each card expresses

We will also dive into the **Court Cards**, often seen as some of the most nuanced and complex figures in the deck. Through personality systems and archetypal frameworks, you’ll learn how to interpret them as:
* Different character types and psychological traits
* Energies we embody at different stages of life
* Reflections of real people and relational dynamics in readings
This course is rooted in the **Marseille Tarot**, known for its rich symbolic language, which encourages intuitive and interpretive reading. However, you are warmly invited to bring any deck you feel connected to - each one carries its own visual language, and sharing these perspectives will deepen the collective experience.
Whether you are new to tarot or looking to deepen your practice, this course will help you move from memorisation to intuitive understanding, building confidence in your readings and your personal connection to the cards.
FREE Tea and Homemade Biscuits will be available during the course.
### **VENUE**

Join us at 3pm on Sunday 19th April at **21 Sid Coffee,** a cosy cafe and bakery in London Fields.

Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Richard Ades**
**Band: The McKenzies**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
