Cello Gym: Technique, Sound, Shifting
Cello Gym: Technique, Sound, Shifting
Do you want to stop guessing what to practice and start working on what actually makes a difference? At the Cello Gym you’ll be guided step by step through the core technical work that most cellists skip, rush, or avoid when practicing alone. In a focused, supportive group, you’ll train the fundamentals that directly improve your sound, your shifting, and your overall control of the instrument, unlocking your ability to learn the repertoire you want to learn. We’ll work on: * Scales and patterns for stable intonation and left-hand organization * Shifting across neck positions with more ease and accuracy Bow and sound exercises for a clear, resonant tone * Etudes that help you master technique * Practical warmups you can reuse in your own practice No repertoire at the Cello Gym - just the essential technical work that makes everything else easier to play. If you’re good at scales, arpeggios, double stops, then they’ll be easy to learn when you encounter them in your pieces, no matter the musical style you want to play. Designed for intermediate to advanced cellists - minimum requirement is a basic knowledge of shifting (for example to 2nd or 4th position). Cellists shifting up to thumb position will also be challenged. Sign up here, in person or online: https://berlincelloacademy.com/event/6597397/765112271/cello-gym-technique-sound-shifting-in-person-ticket

Come along, grab a coffee, shut up, and write! We will do at least two sessions of each 45 minutes of writing and two breaks. We will start the first writing session at 11:15. **For space reasons, we are limited to a certain number of attendees, so please update your RSVP if you can't come**. We often have a large waiting list, and not updating your RSVP or not showing up if you do RSVP yes means that others miss out. We also ask that if you do change your RSVP, do it with reasonable notice. Thanks! We typically take over all of the cafe, but try to share tables if you can to allow space for other customers. If you are new, come and say hello, as we know that suddenly going quiet for 45 minutes and staring at that blank page can be intimidating when it's your first time. We have a lot of long-term regulars who will be happy to help you feel welcome. In between sessions, we have a Telegram chat: https://t.me/joinchat/ERW3pxD5kfELGeWs9SUhjw For more information, visit [https://shutupwrite.com](https://shutupwrite.com/).

📸 Studio B/W Portrait Photography in Weissense
📸 Studio B/W Portrait Photography in Weissense
Join us for our second studio event this year, first in this new studio in [Weissensee](https://studioweissensee.berlin/), for a minimalistic session with 3 models. **Main theme:** This all-black-and-white studio session is a deep dive into the mastery of contrast and light. Instead of just taking striking photos, you will deconstruct and replicate the artistic decisions of photography’s greatest masters. You will explore how deep shadows, bright highlights, and texture shape emotion and direct the viewer’s eye. The session is divided into three distinct technical blocks based on iconic reference styles: 1. **Terry Richardson & Platon:** Minimalist sets, flat direct flash, and raw, high-contrast emotional energy. 2. **Peter Lindbergh:** Cinematic, soft yet directional window light, unretouched skin texture, and honest human emotion. 3. **Hedi Slimane:** Aggressive digital black-and-white, sharp side-lighting, and cold rock-and-roll decadence. The goal is to understand how light reveals, conceals, separates, and connects. By consciously borrowing these techniques, you will learn to use contrast as a powerful visual and emotional tool with your own subjects. **💡 Formula** This rotation-based format is built to maximize your shooting time and creative output. You’ll work across three setups, lighting styles, and models, all in a single session. * **1-on-1 Shooting:** Dedicated time with each model. * **Ready-to-Shoot:** Professionally lit, styled environments for varied content. * **Inspiring Atmosphere:** A focused chance to experiment, connect, and create alongside like-minded photographers. **👥 Who & What to Expect** * **Participants:** Up to 12 photographers, divided into 3 rotating groups. * **Skill Level:** Intermediate and above. * **The Models:** 3 carefully selected models. * **🔗 See Our Past Events** Check out selected coverage of our past TFP events: * [Event Recap 1](https://www.instagram.com/p/C58r4z2ojQJ/) * [Event Recap 2](https://www.instagram.com/theisoclubcollective/reel/C8E17M7KyOz/) * [Event Recap 3](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6YYzKbiVax/) * **📍 Location:** [Weissensee](https://studioweissensee.berlin/) \- Streustrasse 42\, 13086 Berlin **🎟️ Payment** **Participation fee:** 50 EUR **🔄 Post-Shoot Requirements** * It is **mandatory** to share your final edited photos with the models and organizers - we recommend using [Picflow](https://picflow.com/) * Collaborate with models before sharing their photos on your social media, and always properly tag & mention them * Make sure to tag & mention us on your photos from this event using our IG handles: [@the_isoclub](https://instagram.com/the_isoclub), [@_portraitscenter](http://https;//%5B%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D%5D(%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D)(%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D(%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D))(%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D(%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D)(%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D(instagram.com/_portraitscenter)))) ✅ **Terms and conditions for participants:** [Document](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EEhcsXgInJaYgyIxnMObQnz7ZVUxp7MuGe8_fCR5Y2g/edit?usp=sharing)

Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
This is "***New Members Night***." If you are one of the many folks on the fence about coming to your first wine tasting with the *Hilliard Wine Club*, this is the night to come. There will be many other new people, so you won't be alone. And the regulars will be there to help make you feel welcome. We're a relaxed and warm group. We hope to see you. **New Venue:** After more than a year on Norwich Street in Old Hilliard we have found a new home at The District's Club House. It's about 3 miles from the former location but is brighter and more spacious. See photos and map. **SIDE NOTE:** New members are welcome to ALL our Friday night wine tastings, but this night is a special overture to those who don't want to feel that they are the only new person in the room. Don't worry. You won't be. And don't hesitate to RSVP to other events. **OLD MEMBERS NOTE**: Hey Old Members! You're not excluded from this event. We expect to see you there to help make the new members feel welcome. **Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (*Cash or Venmo only please*). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Bring a bottle to share if you care to. See all the details below for the Hilliard Wine Club Wine Tasting. In Person. In Real Life. Actual Wine from glass bottles with corks and everything. **Wine**: Tastings will be $15 for four samples as always. And you are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share with others. Participation in the wine tastings is optional. But since you’re going, I will buy enough wine to cover you. If you bring your own wine and do not participate in the tasting you will only pay $10 to cover the door charge. **Parking**: There are 15 visitor spaces along the North curve if you make a right hand turn after the first stop sign when you are facing the clubhouse. If all of those spaces are taken, there are 30 more visitor spaces across the back of the community (westerb edge) where the concrete wall separates the world from I-270. It's only about a 100 yard walk back to the clubhouse from there. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing. **Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions. **Extra Wine**: After everyone has had their samples, we remove the pouring spouts and any remaining wine is poured freely to whomever wants it. I hate having leftover wine. **Queen of Hearts**: The Queen of Hearts raffle is a fundraiser for the club and a Barnum and Bailey type extravaganza - minus the dancing ponies, clowns, and actual circus. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*

Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*

**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee.
