Board Game Night at Boyd Community Hub
Come along for a casual board game night in the Principal’s Office room at Boyd Community Hub.
I’ve booked the room from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, and we’ll meet outside the venue first at 6:45pm so everyone can find the group before we head in together.
This will be a small, relaxed meetup with a maximum of 10 people. I’ll bring a mix of social, party, strategy, and light games, including: Camel Up, Catan, Codenames, Decrypto, Dixit Odyssey, Wavelength, UNO Show ’Em No Mercy, and Chess.
We’ll decide what to play depending on the group size and what people feel like on the night. You don’t need to know the rules beforehand — we can explain games as we go.
This is more of a relaxed social board game night than a serious competitive session. It’s totally fine if you’re new to board games, coming solo, or only know a few simple games.
**Who this is for**
This event is good for:
* People who enjoy casual board games
* Beginners and occasional players
* Solo attendees who want a relaxed social evening
* Anyone happy with a small-group, low-pressure vibe

I’ve booked the room and will cover the room hire cost, so there is no cost for attendees.
Please only RSVP if you genuinely plan to attend, as the room has a small capacity.

Boyd Community Hub is in Southbank, near City Road.
Please check your own public transport route before coming, especially for the trip home after 10:00pm.

May Book of the month - Hekate - The Witch
Book Club: [Hekate](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/223296200-hekate---the-witch) the Witch by Nikita Gill
Step into the shadowed spaces where myth, magic, and self-discovery intertwine. Hekate the Witch is a powerful collection of poems that channels the voice of the ancient goddess Hekate, exploring themes of transformation, independence, and feminine power. Nikita Gill gives voice to the marginalized, the mystical, and the misunderstood, weaving a tapestry of verse that is at once haunting, comforting, and profoundly empowering.
Through vivid imagery and spellbinding language, Gill guides readers on a journey of introspection and resilience. The poems confront heartbreak, identity, and personal evolution, reminding us that embracing our own power often requires walking through the darkness. With Hekate as both guide and metaphor, this collection asks us to honor our intuition, our shadows, and the quiet strength that resides in the unseen.
Gill’s work resonates as both a personal and collective call to awaken, offering moments of reflection, rebellion, and radical self-acceptance. Whether read slowly, aloud, or in fragments, these poems linger—like magic in the air, or footsteps in a midnight forest.
Discussion Points:
• Power and Autonomy: How does Gill explore self-sovereignty through the figure of Hekate? Are her poems a call to reclaim personal agency?
• Darkness and Transformation: How are loss, grief, or shadowed experiences reframed as sources of strength?
• Feminine Archetypes: How does the goddess Hekate function as a symbol for modern empowerment?
• Poetic Form and Voice: How does Gill’s style—short verses, repetition, vivid imagery—shape the emotional impact of the work?
• Spiritual and Emotional Resonance: Which poems spoke to your own journey of self-discovery, resilience, or empowerment, and why?

**⚠️ Group Rules & Event Etiquette ⚠️**
These are basic, commonsense standards that keep events safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone.
**👟 Fitness Requirements**
Riding: 10–15 km/hr
We walk/ride at a relaxed pace. Please ensure you meet the fitness level for the event. If the group is forced to wait excessively, you may be asked to leave the event.
**⛹️ Pace: Too Fast or Too Slow**
Small social events rely on staying together. If you prefer a very different pace, consider going solo, joining a faster/slower group, or choosing events that match your fitness.
**👩💼 Time Constraints**
If you’re on a tight schedule, this may not be the right event. Social activities rarely run exactly on time.
**⚠️ CRITICAL EXPECTATIONS ⚠️**
**👻 No‑Shows**
No‑shows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events.
- Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event.
- No‑shows will likely be removed and blocked from the group.
- Last‑minute cancellations **(“flaking”)** may also result in group removal, especially when there is a waitlist.
**👀 Attending Without Being on the Going List**
This is a security issue.
**Do NOT turn up unannounced**.
If you’re not on the Going list and haven’t arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event check‑ins are performed.
**⏰ Late Arrivals**
If you’re late, the group will not wait.
- You may be marked as a No‑Show and removed from the group.
- It’s your responsibility to communicate and catch up—this may not be possible for some events.
**🎲 Second Chances**
If something goes wrong, communicate with the organiser. Silence + poor behaviour = removal. Communication + accountability = second chances. As the organiser is busy organising this may be impossible during the event.
**🚩Disclaimer: No Liability & Organiser Indemnity**
By participating in this event, you acknowledge and accept full personal responsibility for your own safety, wellbeing, and belongings. The organiser assumes no liability for injury, loss, or damage incurred during the activity. Participation is entirely at your own risk.
