**You like drawing but find portraits challenging?** **You just need the right process!** Then this workshop is for YOU! And for anyone who wishes to explore realistic pencil portrait drawing from photographic references through a structured method, and wants to learn or refine pencil hatching and shading techniques. The workshop is designed for a small group, allowing a flexible and supportive approach, adapting to each participant’s level: from guiding beginners to helping intermediate artists tackle their personal creative challenges. Without the pressure of the final result, we will focus on learning the method and enjoying the creative process. I am Alessia Sinopoli, an Italian professional artist based in Berlin, and I will be your instructor throughout this journey. **What we'll do step by step** **We’ll combine theory and practice:** * Practice targeted observation to select the best reference photo * Use the grid method for accurate proportions and create a preliminary sketch * Understand the differences between pencils of various hardness and get familiar with the materials we’ll use * Master shading (the real magic!) with hatching techniques to shape volume and depth * Train your observational skills to recognize different tonal values * Explore changing perspectives to refresh your vision * Discuss common mistakes and learn how to avoid them * Receive attentive, highly personalized guidance aimed at supporting your individual way of drawing **Breaks and Refreshments** While drawing, we’ll enjoy some tea. Between the first and second parts of the workshop, we’ll take a break, It’ll be the perfect moment to connect, share a cup of coffee and a sweet treat together (vegan option available). **What is included?** Leave home as light as a butterfly, **everything is provided!** All materials provided **for use during the workshop** are professional, artist-grade quality and carefully selected for realistic pencil drawing techniques: * Graphite pencils (professional quality, different hardness grades) * High-quality drawing paper suitable for detailed pencil work * Precision eraser tools for detailed highlights and corrections * Essential drawing accessories including sharpeners, additional erasers, paper-cleaning brushes, and other studio equipment * Printed photo references **Refreshments are included**: tea, coffee and a sweet treat. **Who is this workshop for?** This workshop is for those who want to spend a cozy and relaxing Sunday in a creative environment, while learning. Silent Reading Club
Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - Silent reading (~1 hour) - Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you! No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

Bring along your **current book to read** (or something **creative** to work on) and join us for this mix of a shared focus time + discussion. \- 11:00\-11:30 \- Meet & greet \- 11:30\-12:30 \- Silent focus time \- 12:30 \- Discussion of books/ projects over coffee Afterwards, join for lunch if you'd like (optional). **Drinks & snacks are included** ☕️ * **To reserve your place, a ticket (€9,90/event) or a community pass (only €17,90/MONTH) [from the website ](https://pausify.org/)*www.pausify.org* is required** * **Attendance here doesn’t show all sign-ups from other platforms. We usually have about 50 to 100 people at each event.** ***FAQ: Why does it cost money if I bring my own project?*** Because we rent a beautiful, central space for every event. Ever thought your monthly apartment rent was too high? Well, multiply that – that’s what commercial spaces in big cities like Berlin cost *per hour*. Of course, if all you want is just some quiet time, your home or a library is perfect. But if you’d like to focus & connect with others in an inspiring space – with drinks, snacks included – that’s what your ticket helps to cover. 📸 Studio B/W Portrait Photography in Weissense
📸 Studio B/W Portrait Photography in Weissense
Join us for our second studio event this year, first in this new studio in [Weissensee](https://studioweissensee.berlin/), for a minimalistic session with 3 models. **Main theme:** This all-black-and-white studio session is a deep dive into the mastery of contrast and light. Instead of just taking striking photos, you will deconstruct and replicate the artistic decisions of photography’s greatest masters. You will explore how deep shadows, bright highlights, and texture shape emotion and direct the viewer’s eye. The session is divided into three distinct technical blocks based on iconic reference styles: 1. **Terry Richardson & Platon:** Minimalist sets, flat direct flash, and raw, high-contrast emotional energy. 2. **Peter Lindbergh:** Cinematic, soft yet directional window light, unretouched skin texture, and honest human emotion. 3. **Hedi Slimane:** Aggressive digital black-and-white, sharp side-lighting, and cold rock-and-roll decadence. The goal is to understand how light reveals, conceals, separates, and connects. By consciously borrowing these techniques, you will learn to use contrast as a powerful visual and emotional tool with your own subjects. **💡 Formula** This rotation-based format is built to maximize your shooting time and creative output. You’ll work across three setups, lighting styles, and models, all in a single session. * **1-on-1 Shooting:** Dedicated time with each model. * **Ready-to-Shoot:** Professionally lit, styled environments for varied content. * **Inspiring Atmosphere:** A focused chance to experiment, connect, and create alongside like-minded photographers. **👥 Who & What to Expect** * **Participants:** Up to 12 photographers, divided into 3 rotating groups. * **Skill Level:** Intermediate and above. * **The Models:** 3 carefully selected models. * **🔗 See Our Past Events** Check out selected coverage of our past TFP events: * [Event Recap 1](https://www.instagram.com/p/C58r4z2ojQJ/) * [Event Recap 2](https://www.instagram.com/theisoclubcollective/reel/C8E17M7KyOz/) * [Event Recap 3](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6YYzKbiVax/) * **📍 Location:** [Weissensee](https://studioweissensee.berlin/) \- Streustrasse 42\, 13086 Berlin **🎟️ Payment** **Participation fee:** 50 EUR **🔄 Post-Shoot Requirements** * It is **mandatory** to share your final edited photos with the models and organizers - we recommend using [Picflow](https://picflow.com/) * Collaborate with models before sharing their photos on your social media, and always properly tag & mention them * Make sure to tag & mention us on your photos from this event using our IG handles: [@the_isoclub](https://instagram.com/the_isoclub), [@_portraitscenter](http://https;//%5B%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D%5D(%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D)(%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D(%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D))(%5B%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D%5D(%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D)(%5Binstagram.com/_portraitscenter%5D(instagram.com/_portraitscenter)))) ✅ **Terms and conditions for participants:** [Document](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EEhcsXgInJaYgyIxnMObQnz7ZVUxp7MuGe8_fCR5Y2g/edit?usp=sharing)

Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Hello! I’m organising a coworking + socialising session for all of us who are working on projects (e.g. our own creations, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. 🙂 To ensure that we have time for both socialising AND working, we will be using the so-called “Pomodoro” technique: **50 mins deep work** (silent), followed by **10 mins break** to socialise. And then repeat! You are welcome to join whatever your personal background is, and whatever project you are working on. I (the host) speak English and German, so either language is fine. ——————————————————- AGENDA: * **Short Intro** Tell us who you are and share something about what you will be working on today * **Pomodoro Session** \- 3x \(3h\) Each Pomodoro session consists of 50 mins focused “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, **phones on silent mode**) -> then 10 mins break: a chance to share your progress with others -> Repeat * **15 mins Wrap Up** Celebrate what you achieved and get to know others 😊 ———— Wifi + power plugs are available - but best to bring a fully charged laptop, just in case 🙃 You **do not** have to pay anything. But since we are using the café space, it is common courtesy to buy at least one drink (coffee costs roughly **4 Euros**).
