June 11 th Dutch Fabric User Group
**Agenda:**
17.00 - 18.00 Walk-in + Dinner
18.00 -19.00 **Fabric automated documentation**
19.00 -19.30 Short break
19.30 - 20.30 **How to get the most out of Fabric Data Factory**
20.30 - 21.00 Round-up and drinks
**Sessions & Speakers**
**Fabric automated documentation:**
by Marco Hansma, Data Architect & Head of Data Engineering and Michael Wanzik, AI & Data Engineer
**Session abstract**
Documentation matters, but in practice it's often the first thing that gets neglected. It takes time, becomes outdated quickly, and feels like an administrative burden for many teams.
In this session, we show how to approach this differently using Microsoft Fabric and AI not by adding yet another process, but by letting documentation emerge automatically as part of your normal data work.
Through a live demo, we show how documentation is generated automatically, stays current, and is immediately useful for data engineers, BI specialists, architects, and business stakeholders. Think technical documentation, functional explanations, lineage context, and descriptions that helps people understand and use data faster and more effectively.
We also cover how to handle this across different environments: from open innovation settings to organizations with strict security and compliance requirements.
After this session, you'll leave with a clear picture of how AI can transform documentation from a forgotten afterthought into a natural part of your data platform.
**Who is this for?**
Data engineers, BI specialists, data architects, analytics engineers, platform teams, and anyone working with Microsoft Fabric or responsible for improving data governance.
**What you'll take away**
* How AI can automatically generate documentation within your data platform
* How Microsoft Fabric can serve as the foundation for this
* A practical example you can immediately apply to your own organization
* How to get started, even in strictly secured environments
**Session 2:**
**How to get the most out of Fabric Data Factory**
by Jeroen Luitwieler, Senior Product Manager, Microsoft
As always, we're looking for speakers. So, if you have an interesting story to share, please submit your session to our [Call for Speakers](https://sessionize.com/dutch-fabric-user-group-2026/) If you're a first-time speaker, don't worry! We are more than happy to help you taking your first steps in the wonderful world of public speaking. Also, for all sessions submitted and not selected, we will keep a list of all sessions for future events.
Zürich - 83rd Fabric User Group [HYBRID]
Dear Data Wizards,
We are looking forward to inviting all of you to our next meetup.
**IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN PERSON, PLEASE REACH OUT TO KRISTIAN DIRECTLY AS WE NEED TO REGISTER YOU IN THE CIRCLE.**
**Topics**
* What's New - Kristian
* Data Quality Testing - Louis
* Introduction to DAX User Defined Functions (UDFs) - Marco
The session will be recorded and made available on YouTube --> [https://aka.ms/FabricUGYouTube](https://aka.ms/FabricUGYouTube)
**Data Quality Testing**
A hands-on introduction to data quality in the data warehouse context. The session highlights why data quality is business-critical, outlines different types of tests, explains the distinction between syntactic and semantic validations, and demonstrates how to integrate a step-by-step testing strategy into existing data pipelines. Covering everything from quick wins to advanced monitoring approaches, in a tool-agnostic manner.
**Introduction to DAX User Defined Functions (UDFs)**
A user-defined function is a DAX formula with parameters that can return values or tables. Parameters can be passed by value or by expression. In this session, you will learn how to define and consume user-defined functions in your semantic model, how to share them in different models, and how to use function libraries created by the community!
**Sponsor**
We are happy to share that this meetup is kindly sponsored by our partner Altyca, who is hosting the apéro for this event.
A big thank-you to Altyca for supporting the Fabric & Power BI community and helping us create a great setting for learning, discussion, and networking.
**Good to know**
We want this group to be a safe environment that encourages open discussion, exchange of ideas and problems you may face. Therefore, we kindly ask that no members will leverage the information for unsolicited acquisitions of new customers or projects. This group builds on trust, and without it we cannot learn from each other and excel on this topic.
**Want to be a presenter?**
We are always looking for new speaker. If you are interested and would like to show something to the Power BI Meetup Group please feel free to contact us!

**Another world is possible with Ven. Amy miller**
**Green Tara Practice as a Path of Compassion in Action**
Our external world today often appears littered with division, violence, and alienation. Rather than grow dismayed by external experiences that show cruelty and heartlessness, let us explore how our vulnerability can become a source of resilience and positive change.
This long weekend retreat offers a meaningful pause, a chance to reconnect with inner strength, inner wisdom and compassion. The beautiful Green Tara practice explores a path of inner transformation by being present with our pain, fear, and aversion. This retreat incorporates Lam Rim (Stages of the Path) meditation along with the sadhana and mantra recitation of Green Tara. By opening our hearts in kindness to ourselves and others, the potential exists for our external reality to shift more beneficially as well.
Join us for this nourishing long weekend of practice, reflection, and renewal—and become part of a shared path of compassion that brings benefit both within and beyond ourselves.
Venerable Amy Miller is a beloved spiritual teacher, practitioner and Buddhist nun in the Tibetan tradition. She has dedicated her life to sharing the profound teachings of Buddhism with the world. With her gentle presence, insightful wisdom and compassionate heart, she has touched the lives of many around the world, inspiring them to find inner peace and help transform their minds.

**💡 Note 1**: this event is largely in *Dutch*.
\-\-\-\-
PS. The event is largely in Dutch, with a keynote and perhaps 1 or 2 talks in English. If you can follow spoken Dutch you're good to go (attendees probably happy to chat in English during breaks), but if you don't then it's possibly best to stay tuned for our upcoming Meetups which are quite often English-first.
DDD Aggregates & Your ORM
**DDD Aggregates & Your ORM**
**By Matthias Noback**
Over time you've created lots of data models that are mapped to tables in your relational database. Now you want to untangle the "mess" using Domain-Driven Design practices and patterns. This is very exciting; you're planning to separate your business domain into smaller subdomains, implemented by so-called Bounded Contexts, with explicit boundaries. But you are using an ORM, and the ORM knows about Entities, but it doesn't care about Bounded Contexts. It allows you (and often requires you) to link remote concepts in the code, ruining those boundaries you imagined...
In this presentation, we'll explore the real-world problems you'll run into when trying to apply Domain-Driven Design patterns in an average framework/ORM-oriented code base. We cover central DDD concepts, and indicate potential conflicts with the way frameworks and ORMs treat your data model. Of course, we'll also consider work-arounds and solutions.
**PROGRAM**

National Park De Maasduinen 20 km
We’re heading out for a beautiful 20 km loop hike from Afferden through the gorgeous Nationaal Park De Maasduinen.
This route takes us through a striking Limburg landscape of forest, sandy paths, open heathland, river dunes, and wide views.
Along the way, we pass the ruins of Kasteel Bleijenbeek and climb an uitkijktoren for a panoramic view over the Maasduinen landscape.
One of the special features of this hike is that we cross the Maas river twice by small ferry. These crossings give the route an extra sense of adventure and connect the Maasduinen landscape with the village side of the river.
After one of the crossings, we continue to the village of Vierlingsbeek, where we’ll take our longer break for a drink. After the break, we make our way back toward Afferden, completing a varied loop through forest, heathland, castle history, river scenery, ferry crossings, and quiet Limburg countryside.
A hike with forest energy, open heathland, castle ruins, a lookout tower, two Maas river crossings, and a relaxed village drink stop.
**📍When and where to meet?**
We’ll meet at 11h15 at Busstop "Afferden, Veer naar Sambeek" https://maps.app.goo.gl/kcg4hBvRsHoUjBSa6

Please check your parking options beforehand so you arrive on time.
**⏸️ Planned Breaks**
After **4 km:** break at watchtower (5 min)
After **7 km:** Having a lunchbreak at ruins of Castle Bleijenbeek (25 min)
After **13 km:** Ferry over the Maas

After **20 km:** Ferry back over the Maas
(bring small change to pay the ferry)
I still need to confirm or make a reservation at the bar.

This hike is one you don’t want to miss! It offers a lot of variety on a relatively short distance. From train station Rhenen, we will cross the river and walk along it for a while, until we cross it again by ferry, taking us to the beautiful wetlands of the ‘Blauwe Kamer’, where we might encounter all kinds of wildlife. After a break, we will continue to climb the Grebbeberg, a 52 meter peak in the hilly forest, towering above the river. We will then return to Rhenen, with the option of visiting this pittoresque old town.

Workshop: Build a Bird Detector
Get your ticket here: [https://ccu.stager.co/shop/default/events/111659793?utm_campaign=build-a-bird&utm_source=meetup](https://ccu.stager.co/shop/default/events/111659793?utm_campaign=build-a-bird&utm_source=meetup)
Build your own bird detector! Learn step by step to build a fully customised animal sounds monitoring device, trained on a local dataset. This workshop is for bird nerds, sound wizards, and for those who are into DYI and low-tech solutions. New to all this? That’s great: coding experience is useful, but not required.
The workshop will be based on the bird detector developed by Matteo Marangoni for the project Chorusing Symbionts. Matteo Holyoke Marangoni combines music with visual art, theatre, and new technologies. He develops robotic instruments and artificial creatures to compose spaces in which sound is experienced with the whole body and all the senses. His work draws inspiration from animal communication, bioacoustics, and ecoacoustics, exploring how sound can mediate relationships between humans, machines, and other life forms, and proposing embodied and ecological notions of intelligence, consciousness and subjecthood.
🎫 Regular €40/Student €20 - [get your ticket here](https://ccu.stager.co/shop/default/events/111659793?utm_campaign=build-a-bird&utm_source=meetup)
