Just new friends ✨** Whether you’re visiting Paris for the first time, just arrived, or simply love meeting curious, open-minded people, this bi-weekly **Just Gutsy** meetup is an easy way to share stories, make friends, and explore the city together. **Who it’s for?** • Solo travelers • Expats & digital nomads • Locals who love meeting travelers **What to expect?** ✨ Relaxed, **self-led** gathering 🤝 Small group energy 🌍 Travel stories, tips & shared adventures 🍹 Grab a drink or snack if you like **How it works?** This is a self-led meetup, meaning I set it up for you but the magic happens between you. To make sure everyone finds each other smoothly, please follow these simple coordination steps: 1️⃣ **RSVP** Thoughtfully If you’re planning to come, tap “Going.” It helps others feel confident joining and builds momentum before the meetup. Even if you’re 80% sure, RSVP. If your plans change, please update your RSVP so others aren’t expecting your attendance. 2️⃣ **Confirm 2 Hours Before** (Essential) To ensure the meetup runs, please comment on this event page at least 2 hours before the start time: “Confirmed for today 😊” This allows everyone to see, ahead of time, who is actually coming. The meetup moves forward when at least 2 people confirm 2 hours before the event. If fewer than 2 confirmations are posted by then, attendance may be low that day. This avoids anyone showing up uncertain. 3️⃣ **Signal Your Arrival** When you arrive, comment on this event page: “Arrived” + where you’re sitting + what you’re wearing Example: “Arrived. Sitting outside near the entrance. Wearing a black t-shirt.” This ensures everyone can easily find each other. Recognition Tip Having a clear profile photo on Meetup is highly encouraged — it makes recognition effortless and helps the group form faster. **When & Where?** 📅 Day: Every Monday & Thursday 🕓 Time: 4:00 PM local time 📍 Meeting point: In front of **Costadoro Social Coffee.** **Arrive on time,** smaller groups make it easier to connect. **Why join Just Gutsy?** • Meet open-minded people who genuinely want to connect • Feel at home anywhere in the world • Be part of a growing global solo travel community • Early members get lifetime premium access to the future Just Gutsy app 🚀 Join here 👉 https://justgutsy.com/ **About Just Gutsy** **Just Gutsy** is a global community for solo travelers who are free spirited, love exploring the world believe that real connections make the best memories. Hi, I am Syrine, I started solo traveling in 2018 and it changed my life, from introvert to extrovert. Along the way, I loved meeting people, but also felt how hard it can be to find connection when traveling alone. I’m building Just Gutsy so no one has to feel alone on the road — and so anyone who’s still shy to take that first step has a welcoming place to start. 💛

Click the link in the comments :) F\*ck the Small Talk has traveled the world from Berlin, London, Lisbon, to Buenos Aires, and is now in **Paris**! **\*\* WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?\*\*** FTST is an out-of-the-box **social experience** where strangers come together for an afternoon of meaningful, fun, and deep conversation. It’s also a different & cool way of meeting new people by getting a bit out of your comfort zone and skipping the small talk! Join us for **games**, **talks**, and **connections** with **friends you haven’t met yet**. Join if you get annoyed after being asked what you do, where you are from, and how long you've been in Paris every single time you meet someone. If you feel that there are better questions in life, this is the place for you. **\*\* HOW DOES IT WORK?\*\*** We start with a short & sweet intro talk followed by a few light-hearted group games to warm up. After that, we split you up into small groups and start with the conversation rounds (with 3-4 people). We'll have awesome question cards that will guide the flow of the conversation. You'll be guided by an experienced host (Camila, you'll love her!) who'll make sure everything goes smoothly. **\*\* HOW TO JOIN?\*\*** **[Take 1 minute to sign up](https://luma.com/ftst4paris)** On your phone and can’t click? Click the link in the comments :) Our events are **limited to 30 handpicked guests** to ensure a cozy atmosphere. **Confirm your spot on the link above** to make it happen! We prioritize a balance of gender and age. (which you most likely will ❤️) **\*\* HOW MUCH IS IT?\*\*** The cost to attend is €15.00 (early bird) or €18.00 (general), and includes the following: ⏰ 3 hours of facilitated and curated activities Light snacks to keep the energy going Access to the Llamas in Paris WhatsApp community A space to meet new people in the least boring way possible Supporting our mission to spread human connection events around the world *( also includes those annoying ticket fees!)* **\*\* WHERE IS IT?\*\*** We host our events in awesome bars across the city. We only **reveal the exact location** upon confirmation. **\*\* WHAT THEY SAY\*\*** “This is the kind of activity **humanity needs every weekend**. Thank you for all.” - *Sonya* “F\*ck the Small Talk changes the narrative from "Where are you from?" to "When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?" and I think that's beautiful.” - Monika "It’s a **wonderful** **experience**, it’s like being a kid again, when you were at the park, playing with other kids, and just decided you were going to be best friends for the next hours. Maybe you’ll never see those kids again. But that hour was amazing because you both opened up and trusted each other." - Sara **[Read our 170+ Google reviews here](https://goo.gl/maps/TpZy77bfPFkGoikn7)** *(we ain't your typical meetup)* **\*\* FAQ\*\*** **• Can I come alone?** Of course, everyone does! **• Can I be late?** Please don't! Late arrivals will disrupt the floooooooow. **• I signed up but never got an invite. Why?** We usually get a high volume of sign-ups, yet we like keeping it cozy & only invite around 30 people. Please try again next time if you do not receive an invite - no hard feelings **• Is this a networking or dating event?** Nope! Think of us as the *anti-networking* and *anti-speed dating* event. There’s no pressure, no pitches, and no cringy icebreakers. Instead, we create spaces where strangers can connect through fun & meaningful conversations. It’s all about authentic connection, no business cards or romantic expectations required. (doesn’t mean it *can’t* happen, it’s just not the intention!)✨ * Location is only revealed to ticket holders! * Age guide, 22-39 years old (only a reference of what to expect, not a limit ) 📵This event is a no-phone experience. ‍📵 We started in Berlin back in 2019 out of the frustration of being asked 'where are you from?' a million times at every single meetup! Now there are chapters in nearly 20 cities, including London, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Zurich, and Vancouver! ️ We're part of the Epic Llama Universe. We design out-of-the-box experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and human connection. April Book Club: Why I Write by George Orwell
April Book Club: Why I Write by George Orwell
For the meeting in April, we'll read and discuss Why I Write by George Orwell Sorry for the short notice to those who were there in the previous book club - having to do on an earlier date as I am no longer available on the 2nd of May - the date discussed during the meeting Description from Goodreads: Whether puncturing the lies of politicians, wittily dissecting the English character or telling unpalatable truths about war, Orwell's timeless, uncompromising essays are more relevant, entertaining and essential than ever in today's era of spin. **\*New to book club? You're welcome to join our discussion. We'll discuss our thoughts on the book and share related topics.** **\*Discussions held in English**
Bookish Cafe: The Handmaid's Tale
Bookish Cafe: The Handmaid's Tale
Welcome to our bookish club. This time, we will be discussing a great modern classic: *The Handmaid’s Tale*. Margaret Atwood’s novel invites us into a world that feels both distant and uncomfortably familiar. A society where control, identity, and freedom are constantly negotiated and often stripped away. This is a story, a reflection on how fragile rights and autonomy can be, and how easily they can be reshaped or taken away. As for discussing the book, let’s think about the themes that stood out most to us, the moments that made us pause, and how this story resonates with today’s world or even your own world experience and view. This is an opportunity to explore, question, and share perspectives. Let’s dive in. PS: This event is free, but please sign up only if you are truly willing to come to the event. Thank you! I will check up with you beforehand. :)

Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
This group is for anyone interested in writing in English, whether it be prose or poetry or non-fiction. We get together once a week to listen, critique and support each other in our work. Attendees bring something they have written, six copies, printed out and no longer than seven pages, which they read aloud. They then receive feedback from the rest of the group. The size of the group is limited to 6, so that everyone is able to receive a full 30 minutes of constructive feedback including reading time. If you have nothing to read but would like to come and listen, you are most welcome too. We are an anglophone group and everything is conducted in English, in fact not everyone who comes can speak French. Please bear this in mind if you sign up.

Killers of The Flower Moon Book Discussion
Killers of The Flower Moon Book Discussion
For our inaugural meat up we will discuss the fan favorite David Grann’s Killers of The Flower Moon. Synopsis: The book investigates a series of murders of wealthy Osage people that took place in Osage County, Oklahoma, in the early 1920s after extensive oil deposits were discovered beneath their land. After the Osage are awarded headrights in court to the profits from oil deposits found on their land, the Osage people prepare to receive the wealth to which they are legally entitled from sales of their oil deposits. The Osage are viewed as the "middle man" and a complex plot is hatched to eliminate the Osage inheritors one by one, by any means possible. Officially, the count of the wealthy Osage victims reaches at least 20 but Grann suspects that perhaps hundreds more may have been killed because of their ties to oil. The book details the new FBI’s investigation of the murders and the eventual trial and conviction of cattleman William King Hale as the mastermind behind the plot. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/193388249-killers-of-the-flower-moon We will meet at ForFive in Rosslyn in the upper floor seating area.

Shut Up & Write® - Gaithersburg
Shut Up & Write® - Gaithersburg
Come by for an hour of evening writing with fellow creative folks. Everyone works on their own thing, no obligation to share — just show up and make any kind of words happen. If you're spending too much time thinking about writing, join us for an hour of focused writing. Guidelines: * While some discussion is encouraged to get to know one another, strive for silent, focused writing from 6:45 PM - 7:45 PM. * Generally avoid disruptive sensory input/behaviors, such as repeated or unpleasant noises, smells, physical movements, etc. (if you have health-related reasons, or some other aspect out of your control due to which this could become an issue, show up anyway and explain that potential disruptions are not intentional.) * Repeated breaking of the above rules without a valid reason may result in dismissal from the group at any point during a session. **Why is Shut Up & Write(!) so effective?** [http://arsenalofwords.com/2015/10/14/why-i-shut-up-write/](http://arsenalofwords.com/2015/10/14/why-i-shut-up-write/) **LOCATION:** Gaithersburg Library, Study Room 2 (if we aren't in 2, check 1!) **SCHEDULE:** 6:30 \| Pre\-session check\-in \- What will you work on? 6:45 \| Shut up and write for 1 hour\! 7:45 \| Post\-session check\-in \- How did it go? Feel free to keep writing and finish your lingering thoughts past this point, but know that the library closes at 8 PM! **BRING:** Whatever you need to be able to write! ***If you are interested in a more collaborative and discussion-focused writing group, the Gaithersburg Library hosts such a group on Sundays from 4:00 to 5:30 PM! Ask Chris or the library staff for more details.***
