How Much Is Enough? The Math Behind Financial Independence
đ UPDATE: MEETUP CAPACITY LIMITED (Moving to Luma)
RSVPs are limited on Meetup, but we have opened additional spots on our new official platform, Luma. đ Secure your priority spot here: https://luma.com/rh62yp2l
âčïž Why are we moving to Luma? We are progressively moving the Lux Finance Circle to Luma to offer a cleaner, professional experience:
đ« No Spam: Unlike Meetup, Luma respects your inbox. No marketing clutter or random notifications - just the calendar invite and the event recap.
âĄïž Zero Friction: No app download or account creation required. Register in 10 seconds with just your email.
đ Exclusive Perks: Get automatic calendar syncing and access to our post-event Recap PDFs (charts & key takeaways). As part of this transition, we are restricting Meetup spots progressively and adding more to the new platform.

đą Welcome to our next Lux Finance Circle meetup!
Everyone has a number. A savings target. An amount that would mean they never have to worry about money again. The problem is, almost nobody actually knows what their number is.
Most people invest without a clear target. They contribute to their brokerage account, pick some ETFs, and hope it works out. But hope is not a strategy. Without knowing how much is enough, you can't know if you're saving too little, taking too much risk, or even if you're on track at all.
This session is an open discussion about the math behind financial independence. Not the Instagram version. The real version: how to calculate what you actually need, what assumptions go into that calculation, and what most people get wrong usually, by throwing numbers around.
đ§ Format of the Event
This is a casual, discussion-based gathering with no long presentations. We'll sit around the table, and your host Romain will kick things off with a short introduction covering:
* Why "save as much as you can" is not a real plan
* The key variables that determine whether you'll reach financial independence (and which ones you can actually control)
* How small changes in your assumptions can dramatically shift your timeline
* The most common mistakes people make when projecting their financial future
From there, we open the floor for discussion. Bring your questions, your assumptions, and your curiosity.
Recommended Preparation
Before the event, think about this: if someone asked you today "how much money do you need to never worry about money again?", could you give a confident answer? And if so, how did you arrive at that number?
đ„ Who Can Join?
Everyone is welcome. This discussion will be especially valuable if you are:
* An investor who contributes regularly but has never calculated a concrete target for financial independence.
* Someone who has used online calculators or rules of thumb (like "25x your expenses") but isn't sure those numbers apply to your situation in Luxembourg.
* A professional who wants to move from "I hope this is enough" to "I know exactly where I stand."
đ Practical Info
* đïž Date: Tuesday, April 14th, 2026 at 18:30 (you can also arrive later).
* đŁïž Language: The event will be in English.
* đ Location: Hotel Le Place d'Armes (18 Place d'Armes, Luxembourg). The bar is hidden at the back. Ask at reception for directions if you are unsure.
* đ» Drinks: Drinks are self-paid at the venue bar.
* đ„ Limited Seats: Please RSVP so we can manage space.

**Wichtig - Absage bitte rechtzeitig:**
The Most Native Kubernetes App
Hej Gophers,
unser nÀchstes Treffen wird am Dienstag, 14. April stattfinden.

Hello Gophers!
Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday, 14 April. We are delighted to welcome [Lukas Nagel](https://github.com/lukasngl/) from [MeKo Manufacturing](http://www.meko.de/) with the topic "The Most Native Kubernetes App". The talk will be German.
What if we only had the Kubernetes cluster at our disposal? We'll develop a ToDo app using only Kubernetes' bulit-in tools, demonstrate why this isn't a good idea, and show how these patterns can be used to implement useful operators.
We will meet at 6 pm at [enercity](https://www.enercity.de/). The talk starts at 6:30pm. Afterwards, we want to chat about technologies and experiences, learn from each other, socialise and simply have a great time together.
[enercity](https://www.enercity.de/) is sponsoring the catering - thank you very much! There will be plenty of drinks and we plan to order pizza.
**Please note for on-site participation:**
* **Registration** for the MeetUp event must be completed by **6 pm** on **Monday, 13th April 2026**.
* A **full name** is required for entry into the building to register with security. If not already stated in the registration form, please send your full name to one of the organisers, Anna, Mark or Sebastian âMoâ, in a private message by the registration deadline.

Networking Meeting - Luxembourg Centre
The chapter meets periodically and brings together a carefully curated group of business owners, independent and liberal professionals, sole proprietors, self-employed individuals, traders, and craftsmen. Our objective goes beyond networking, as we will work to give back to the society.
To preserve the value of these groups, each chapter will have the policy of only one representative per profession. This ensures a non-competitive environment where members can openly support one another, exchange insights, and grow together. Additionally, an attendance policy will be in place to encourage commitment and continuity, ensuring that every member contributes and benefits the collective momentum of the group.
At this initial stage, all participation revenues will be donated to a non-profit organization called SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, reinforcing our belief that successful businesses have a responsibility beyond themselves.
The meetings will be held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Members will be encouraged to purchase drinks from the venue as they will be hosting the place at no charge for the club.
**Agenda outline:**
âą People registration and welcome (10 min)
âą Introduction of the agenda (2 min)
âą Individual presentation (2 min p/person)
âą Speech of the day (5-10 minutes) â Given only by oficial members
âą Referrals and testimonials (5-10 min)
âą End of the session / Open Networking (10-20 min)
**Investment packages:**

As places are strictly limited, we strongly encourage you to confirm your participation as soon as possible if you wish to join us. Non-members are welcome to participate twice without being official members, and all fees paid as visitor will be deducted in case of membership enrollment.

How to build confidence in your website's sustainability credentials
The web is at the heart of our every day lives and we understand now it has enormous sustainability impacts. So what do we do as practitioners, teams and businesses building individual websites or apps? How do we have full confidence that our tech meets our sustainability claims?
Adam Newman, Co-founder of Root & Branch is going to address these questions, demystify vendor claims and add some clarity to what it means to build, host and manage a sustainable web estate.
Adam is the co-chair of the Green Software Foundation's "SCI for web" project, writing the spec for how to apply the latest ISO standard (ISO 21031:2024) to the web as well as the co-author of a paper on the energy and emissions measurement of websites and cloud applications. He is also a contributer to the W3C Web Sustainability Guidelines and a proud co-organiser of Green Software Brighton.
Check out the Green Software Brighton [website](https://greensoftwarebrighton.co.uk/) for links to previous talks.
Arrive from 18:00 for pizza and drinks. Event will start at 18:30. We always head for a drink and a chat locally afterwards too.

**⥠AI & Coffee â In-Person Meetup in Metz**
Since the community has been growing very fast in Luxembourg đ±đș, Vienna đŠđč, Bucharest đ·đŽ and Belgrade đ·đž weâre hosting now also events in Metz đ«đ·!
Join our in-person event on Saturday, 18 April from 15h00-17h00 in Les 3 lumiĂšres [65 Place St Louis, 57000 Metz, France](https://www.google.com/maps/place//data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x4794ddfb97809c5f:0xa3fbaf4da6636c4d?sa=X&ved=1t:8290&ictx=111).
During the first part of the event, we will all gather in a circle/square format and introduce ourselves for 1â2 minutes. This gives everyone the opportunity to share who they are, what they do, and what they are looking for, while also getting to know the entire room by listening to others do the same. This has proven to be the most effective way to network with 15â30 people within one hour, and afterwards it allows you to connect more easily with those who sparked your interest.
The introduction round is the most exciting part of the event, so please try to arrive a bit early to avoid missing the start đđ
Based on the great feedbacks, feel free to bring also your laptops if youâd like to show your work. People were very open to sharing approaches and projects, which sparked some truly deep conversations.
AI is moving so fast that itâs hard to keep up alone. The best way to make sense of it is by meeting others, exchanging ideas, and hearing fresh perspectives. Thatâs what this meetup is about.
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
â Weâll gather in a local cafĂ© for open conversations about:
* AI news and trends (whatâs real, whatâs hype)
* Sharing projects, ideas, and feedback
* Supporting each other and creating new stories
* Building connections with like-minded people
đ„ **Whoâs welcome?**
Developers, entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, students, researchers, creatives â and anyone simply curious about AI.
đĄ **What to expect**
* Casual atmosphere, no commitment, no pressure

COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.

Free in-person event: Take Control of Your Mental Health
Itâs time to take control of your mental health. How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself.
Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went?
Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you arenât aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence?
Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, youâll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp.
