Speakers

**Dr. Afsaneh Fazly** is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of a stealth AI startup, where she is pioneering the development of agentic AI systems that go beyond passive automation to actively reason, plan, and adapt. Previously, she served as Senior Director of AI Research at the Samsung AI Centre in Toronto, leading breakthroughs in natural language processing and machine learning. She also held the position of Director of Research at Thomson Reuters. Her work focuses on creating AI agents capable of autonomous decision-making and proactive problem-solving, transforming how AI interacts with complex environments.

**Dr. Mengye Ren** is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Data Science at New York University, where he leads the Agentic Learning AI Lab, advancing AI systems that learn and adapt continuously, much like humans. His research explores agentic AI’s ability to reason, generalize, and make decisions with minimal supervision. Before joining NYU, he was a visiting faculty researcher at Google Brain Toronto, working with Professor Geoffrey Hinton. He also served as a senior research scientist at Uber ATG and Waabi, where he contributed to self-driving technology—an early example of agentic AI in real-world applications.

**Himanshu Joshi** is a seasoned AI strategy and implementation leader with over two decades of global experience, currently serving as a Senior Project Manager at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence. His expertise lies in integrating AI agents into decision-making processes, enhancing automation beyond rule-based systems. His career spans AI deployment, digital transformation, and startup advisory, reflecting a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Himanshu also contributes to the AI community as a Business Mentor at the MIT Enterprise Forum Cambridge and as a Professor of Practice, where he explores the ethical and practical implications of agentic AI and human-AI collaboration.
