What we’re about
An awesome place for fellow Arts and Culture lovers around our city to meet, attend and organize events, share ideas and interests!
Join us as we explore Toronto galleries, museums, fairs, and the best in international films, theatre, opera, food, dance, architecture/design, music and the avant-garde.
We will be active with many of the festivals and fairs that take place throughout the year.
Above all we want to create leading events where people can make new friends while enjoying common interests.
We ask that if you are joining us, you make Toronto Arts & Culture, one of your Top 3 Toronto Meetup groups. Some of our events are quite large, some are intimate. If we can't find you, pls try and find us as best you can. If we are not able to connect up, if you are new to our group..don't give up, try again, as we will do! After 3-5 times coming out, you will have made some new arts & culture friends.
If you need to change/update your RSVP, please do so in a timely and professional manner. When you join, try and get a picture posted and a bit of info about yourself...its helps in identification at events.
Some of our events are ticketed, some have service charges, but the majority are free.
We look forward to meeting you soon!

See all- MONTREAL: Momenta Biennale Art Fair Weekend (visual arts and photography)Place des Arts, Montreal, ON
Once again, an early September long weekend awaits us. We previously attended Momenta Biennale in 2019 & 2023. This time we will join in for it's opening weekend!
Today is June 11th--this trip is in 3 months! We try and cap these trips at $1000 all in--with 3 months notice/planning. Read on. Works for everyone.
https://momentabiennale.com/en/
We can work off a group size of about 10 people. Max 12.
VERY IMPORTANT: Please read all the information before signing up to this trip, as there is a NON-refundable fee involved upfront.
***Check your schedules and calendars--and then double check them.
Please do not sign up for the trip until you've emailed me. Very important.3 nights in September (Thursday-11th, Friday-12th, Saturday 13th)
Also, on the this trip, we will visit other galleries with a focus on 'photography and the moving image'. We will meet artists, curators, and gallery directors--with private/intimate tours.
--We spend most of one day at Momenta (moving between various gallery stops), then the other time exploring Montreal's culture and architecture scene. Which has always vibrant and rewarding for us. Over the 3 days, we normally visit/tour about 10 exceptional places. Every trip is different.
This would be our 20th Montreal Group Trip. Since 2015!
Our FULL schedule of events is not finalized until very early September, but I keep you posted along the way--and we meet as a group before the trip in Toronto--late August.
Special surprises always await us in Montreal! I am working on a unique/outdoor GROUP dinner for us--by the Lachine Canal. Which has worked out 2x before!
Here's what you need to know to make a decision: I can give you some advice..
- I will provide 2 1/2 days of cultural programming on the ground. Thursday night, all day Friday and Saturday. You return home on Sunday at your own time.
- You are responsible for your own travel, accommodation, insurance and other costs you will incur. In the past, members have travelled either by air, VIA train, drive, bus. They have stayed in hotels/points, Airbnb, Bed & Breakfast, Hostel, or with friends.
Montreal is half the size of Toronto, quite compact. It suits these trips very well. We generally walk everywhere.
There is no "wrong" place to stay in Montreal, but ideally you want to be about 1km/15 mins walk from rue St. Catherine/Place des Arts. Getting around the City with taxi, bike, walk, bus, metro/subway is excellent.
- These are full trips, with very little "free-time". We are are on the go, and generally walk everywhere.
- On the Saturday night, we have a "full group" formal dinner. About $125 per person range. This is the only formal GROUP meal event I organize, although we do meet for a drink/snack on our arrival night..Thursday September 11th--before heading to first gallery stop.
- You would need to be in Montreal and ready to go by about 5pm on Thursday September 11th, and you return home on your own time of choosing on Sunday September 14th.
- Can you attend, please be sure..this is an active cultural long weekend.
There will be a non-refundable fee to participate in this trip, and you MUST connect with me before signing up on Meetup at:
torontoisculture@gmail.comIf you are coming with us for the FIRST time, then the non-refundable fee is $135 payable within 2 days of signing up on Meetup.
If you have travelled with me on past trips to Montreal then the non-refundable fee is $115 payable within 2 days of signing up on Meetup.
- For your budgeting, other gallery/event "entry" costs may total $100 maximum over the weekend. And GROUP dinner, plan for $125.
- By planning ahead, you can get the best rates on travel and accommodations. Be proactive. By doing so, this covers your non-refundable fee. VIA is about $125 at time of this posting/return!
