These are very social trips--we are 'explorers'. Montreal treats us very well. We generally walk everywhere (thousands of steps!)
We will return to Plural Contemporary Art Fair for the 8th time.
4 nights (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday--returning home on Sunday)
Plural celebrates the best of contemporary art in Canada. Created by and for the galleries, the fair presents and brings together the plurality of voices and works in contemporary art from across the country. It elevates art market practices through a rigorous selection of galleries presenting thoughtfully chosen artists and artworks; and through accessible programming that addresses current issues and questions in the field of art.
Plural's 19th edition will be held from April 10-12th at the Port of Montreal’s Grand Quay. (Old Montreal). Just a fabulous space/btw. Old warehouse.
If you are familiar with Art Toronto and The Artist Project, then you have an idea about Papier Fair. This is Quebec's most important Art Fair. 50 booths+
Also, on the this trip, we will visit OTHER larger Montreal galleries and explore various smaller galleries, food, public art, and architecture. We will meet artists, curators, and directors--with private tours. PLUS more.
--We spend most of ONE day at the Fair, then the other time exploring Montreal's vibrant culture scene. After 20+ past trips, we are so fortunate to have many Montreal culture/gallery friends--they look forward to us/and we to them.
Our full schedule of events is not finalized until late March 2026, but I keep you posted along the way (every month). We meet as a group before the trip in Toronto--mid/late March. TBD
Special surprises always await us in Montreal!
Here is what you need to know to make a decision:
- I will provide 3 1/2 days of cultural programming on the ground. Wednesday night, all day Thursday, all day Friday and Saturday. You return home on Sunday at your own time.
- You are responsible for your own travel, accommodation, insurance and other costs you will incur. In the past, members have travelled either by air, VIA, drive, Bus. They have stayed in hotels (points), Airbnb, Bed & Breakfast, Hostel, or with friends.
By planning ahead, you can get the best rates etc. VIA and accommodations.
There is no "wrong" place to stay in Montreal, but ideally you want to be about 1km/20 mins walk from St. Catherine St/Place des Arts.
3. These are full trips, with very little "free-time". We are on the go.
4. On the Saturday night, we have a "full Group" restaurant dinner. About $125-$150 per person range. This is the only formal meal event I organize, although other meals fall into place while there.
5. You would need to be in Montreal and ready to go by about 6pm on Wednesday April 8th, and you return home on your own time of choosing on Sunday April 13th.
6. Can you attend, please be sure...
There is a non-refundable fee to participate in this trip, and you MUST connect with me before signing up on Meetup at:
The non-refundable fee is $150 per person payable within 2 days of signing up on Meetup.
7. For your budgeting, other gallery/event "entry" costs may total $150 maximum over the weekend.
8. By planning ahead, you can get the best rates on travel and accommodations. Be proactive. By doing so, this covers your non-refundable fee. I travel by VIA, and stay at Airbnb.
9. These are NOT expensive trips--but they are very rewarding! Much of what we do while there is FREE.
Any questions?
Greg
