Tesla just held a conference to announce their intention to develop full self driving cars, and an overview of their progress (3hr52m in total, and the actual conference begins at 1hr9m30s).

They discussed (and showed) fairly detailed information about how their system works, the hardware they've developed to accelerate it, and how they've already built most of the capability into their current vehicles.
In this interactive session, we will re-watch some of the relevant clips from the announcement and discuss the technical machine learning details, Tesla's approach, and what strategic advantages and disadvantages Tesla might have.

Dr. Robert Brown is a research scientist with the Canadian Paediatric Demyelinating Disease Network and soon-to-be founder of a research startup. His research includes deep learning, distributed computing, clinical trial design and medical image processing and analysis.
He has extensive experience teaching artificial intelligence, scientific programming, and statistics to a variety of audiences. He has a BSc in computer science from Athabasca University and a PhD in biomedical engineering from University of Calgary.
