The YS (wise) way to YAML

YS ("wise", aka YAMLScript) is YAML 1.2 made fully programmable.

Created by YAML creator, Ingy döt Net, YS is the new way to write YAML in 2025.

Your YAML config files are already valid YS, but now you can easily extend them with anything you would expect to be in your favourite programming language; loops, conditionals, variables, functions, expressions, string interpolation, standard libraries, etc. All in a way that is both clean (like YAML should be) and keeps your extended files 100% valid YAML syntax.

In this talk, Ingy will show you how to do lots of useful things with YS that can take your DevOps skills and capabilities to a whole new level.
