The Toronto Guitar Meetup is your destination for guitar related learning, jams, workshops, concerts and other activities. Some of our events are free and for others, there is a fee which will be clearly indicated.
If you have any guitar related questions we are here to answer them. Mint Music who also founded the Toronto Guitar School sponsors the Toronto Guitar Meetup and has over 40 instructors and professional musicians who specializing in every major intrument and music style. Since 1996 Mint Music has been involved in the Toronto Music scene and has helped thousands pursue and achieve their musical dreams and through a supportive and dynamic musical community. We've also made a number of great connections within the Toronto Music Scene over the years with recording studios, music retail and repair shops and other music professionals which you can take advantage of as a member of Mint Music and The Toronto Guitar School.
Guitar Jams, Workshops, Concerts and other Activities
The Toronto Guitar Meetup is pleased to host guitar jams, auditions, concerts and workshops throughout the year for our members. These events are often led by Toronto Guitar School instructors or internationally respected musicians or professional clinicians. If you have an idea for an interesting guitar related event, workshop or activity please let us know.
Private Lessons, Music Courses, Rock Bands & Ensembles at the Toronto Guitar School
For those interested in private lessons, music courses or our Rock Band & Ensemble program you can visit www.torontoguitarschool.com or call 416-707-1077. The Toronto Guitar School offers music lessons in every major instrument for all ages and levels. In addition to private lessons, the Toronto Guitar School offers a wide variety of music courses such as a beginner guitar and ukulele course, improvisation, theory, songwriting, theory, live sound and recording as well as numerous Rock Bands and Ensembles from Teen Bands to Adult Bands that rehearse weekly.

Our Beginner Guitar Course is our most popular guitar course for brand new beginner guitarists. This 10 week course makes learning the guitar fun, engaging and rewarding. No prior knowledge of the guitar is necessary, just a willingness to have fun and make some new friends! If you do not own a guitar do not worry, once you prepay for the guitar course we will happily secure your guitar rental based on your needs, body size, stylistic preferences and have it waiting for you at one of our trusted music retail partners.
Learn:
- How to strum and fingerpick
- The correct body and hand positioning to increase efficiency and prevent injury
- To read the guitar tab, basic music notation, theory and chord charts
- How to play popular rock songs by artists such as Pink Floyd, The Eagles, The Beatles, Coldplay, John Mayer, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and many more.
- The essential open chords such as A through G Major and A through G minor
- How to play the 12 bar blues
- The basic scales necessary for future soloing and improvisation
