Yes, we could absolutely have chosen a scientifically correct title to describe the topics of this upcoming November THUG night, but why would we want to do such a thing. Now that we have your undivided attention, we are delighted to announce presentations by SideFX's 3D Artist Dmitrii Vlasenko and COPs developer Jinho Jeoung!
Dmitrii will break down the train project (except APEX rigging part), focusing on scene layout and asset creation. He'll cover HeightField generation, how to automate asset exporting using a TOP network, effective scattering techniques in Solaris, and final rendering setup, including in-depth COP compositing techniques to get not just draft comps, but actual final pixels.
Jinho will demonstrate how you can recreate a blistering tumour material, building it from scratch in COPs. He will also cover other texture examples in Houdini 21.
