What we’re about
This is a group for jazz lovers (traditional and modern) who chose to listen, really listen to the music, be it in recordings, live, or making it in community. For some, music is the background to the main event - socializing. Here, the music IS the main event. To be heard, savoured and appreciated. Live music events and the occasional listening party will be posted once a month or more in the warmer seasons. Members can post their own jazz, world or folk music performances, and see how mutual support can build community. We may meet before an event, get to know each other, enjoy the performance and go with the flow after it is through. We value artistic and creative music, and as a genre that is becoming less recognized every year, we honour it and its creators by giving our full attention, and actually listening when it is played! Genres: modern jazz, jazz-folk, jazz-world, occasional outside genres Suggestions of local, touring and international artists are encouraged to make our outings rich and varied. Note: The venues will differ in every way, but only high quality music will be heard.
