Details
Our May 2021 selection is Struck by Lightning: The Curious World of Probabilities, by Jeffrey S. Rosenthal.
If you know anyone who thinks that statistics and probability are boring, give them a copy of Struck by Lightning, to change their mind.
This book is very easy to read — a real page-turner. As Neil deGrasse Tyson does with astrophysics, or Bill Nye with science in general, Rosenthal writes about probability and statistics with great verve and enthusiasm, and he makes his subject accessible and appealing to the widest possible audience.
No prior knowledge of the field is necessary; anyone with a modicum of common sense, curiosity, and sense of humour can enjoy this excellent book.
