Toronto MLOps July Community Meetup
Details
Event:
The community meetup is an in-person social event for learning about ML and MLOps through live talks/discussion, as well as connecting with fellow MLOps enthusiasts.
Talks:
- Viraj (Cofounder at Astronomer)
Talk's Title: MLOrchestration and LLMs with Apache Airflow
Talk's description: MLOps exists at the intersection of data engineering, machine learning, and devops. To truly effectively operationalize "good" ML systems (in the sense that they need to solve a business problem), MLOps systems require orchestrators. MLOrchestration, or MLOx, involves effectively conducting disparate parts of machine learning systems to a workflow that runs in with specific dependencies on time, every time. This talk will go through MLOx and the how/why Apache Airflow fits in the context of the trendiest problem out there, productionizing large language models.
- Sankalp Sanand (Software Engineer at Agnostiq)
Talk's Title: Covalent: Simplifying Machine Learning Workflows Across Heterogeneous Platforms
Talk's description: As machine learning’s landscape evolves, the myriad of hardware platforms and compute frameworks can pose a challenge for practitioners, especially when executing distributed algorithms with data geo-restricted. The complexity of offloading tasks to diverse environments, including the cloud, HPC clusters, and GPU clouds, can shift the focus away from the core research due to operational overhead. This talk explores how Covalent, an open-source tool, empowers practitioners to easily orchestrate machine learning workflows. With basic Python knowledge, Covalent enables practitioners to scale their machine learning algorithms from a local laptop to distributed, hybrid, multi-cloud platforms with minimal overhead.
Free beer and pizza will be provided to those who get there early enough.
