What is the Toronto Photography Group all About?

The Toronto Photography group started in 2001 running on average 2-3 workshops per week throughout the year assisting photographers with access to professional studio time and full team (model , mua and Lighting assistant plus instructor/host). In 2011 Its sister group West Toronto Photography Group became a registered not-for-profit to further help photographers in the GTA while also serving the whole community. - West Toronto Photography Group is one of the cities busiest photography groups and we actively support monthly workshops for a charity food drive for the Daily Bread food bank. Our first full day photo event - Focus on Weston is a free photography event to raise donations of new Socks, gloves and hats for our community through Socks for Souls this December 17th 2019 at Artscape Weston Commons.
Our mission, is to enlighten and inspire the creativity within our city, have fun shooting and build friendships within the photography community while promoting imaging and photographic skills and education to all that are interested. We are creating workshops and programs that enrich our members, are fun to do and they assist/ pair up with other not for profit groups throughout the city .
Basic Membership to the Toronto Photography group is free, and easily accessible, people become members by signing up to any event or workshop on our meetup page.
The West Toronto Photography Group has a yearly membership fee of $299 and that includes voting rights at the annual meeting on the types of workshops we offer to our members , with a strong focus on the sense of community and fostered friendships by bringing together photographers from throughout the GTA. Workshops will also be lower prices with more sales on last minute workshops and outings as well.
We assist people in building their own careers, many members in the community don’t have formal training we offer hands on experience in a professional environment. For some members photography is simply a creative outlet, a hobby something that helps them achieve balance in their life, TTPG provides a space to connect with others who share the same interest.

## About the Event
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
We are excited to present Light, Art & Form, an intermediate-level studio photography workshop exploring the creative possibilities of art nude photography, light and form, featuring the talented model Ciara Antoski.
This hands-on workshop is designed for photographers who want to develop their understanding of studio lighting while creating dramatic, artistic and carefully composed images for their portfolios.
Working in a small, intimate group, we'll explore several professional lighting setups and discuss how the position, direction, quality and shape of light can transform the appearance of the human form.

## Workshop Details

This workshop is focused on learning through doing. Phil Sutherland will guide participants through each setup, explaining the lighting choices, modifiers, angles and techniques used to create the desired look.
Participants will have opportunities to photograph each setup while receiving guidance and feedback throughout the session.

### Framing & Composition
During the workshop, we'll explore several approaches to photographing the figure, including:

Whether Pin Up photography is a new interest or an established passion, this workshop will help you take your studio lighting skills to the next level.
This two-hour, information-packed workshop is limited to only 6 photographers, giving everyone plenty of opportunity to ask questions, experiment with the lighting and get hands-on shooting time.
During the workshop, we will:
1. Explore the equipment
Get a detailed introduction to the studio equipment, modifiers and lighting tools we will be using. We will build and adjust three different lighting setups throughout the workshop.
2. Discover the Old-School Pin Up Look
We'll explore the history and techniques behind classic Pin Up photography, including how older studio spaces, lights and modifiers were used to create that distinctive vintage look. We'll also compare traditional techniques with modern studio lighting tools.
3. Shoot Three Lighting Setups
We will create and photograph three different lighting setups, giving each participant opportunities to shoot, experiment and see firsthand how changing the position, size and direction of the light affects the final image.
## Who Is This Workshop For?
This workshop is suitable for photographers of all skill levels who want to learn more about studio photography and become more comfortable working with professional lighting equipment.
You don't need to be an experienced studio photographer. We'll demonstrate the lighting techniques, explain the equipment and give everyone opportunities to photograph each setup.
We'll also discuss how different modifiers—including reflectors, umbrellas, softboxes, grids, snoots and beauty dishes—can be used to shape and control light.
### Maximum 6 Participants
Keeping the group small means more shooting time, more opportunities to ask questions and more hands-on learning for everyone.
Time is valuable, so we keep our workshops efficient, practical and focused on getting you behind the camera. You'll spend less time standing around and more time learning, shooting and experimenting with light.
