What we’re about

What is the  Toronto Photography Group all About?

The Toronto Photography group started in 2001 running on average 2-3 workshops per week throughout the year assisting photographers with access to professional studio time and full team (model , mua and Lighting assistant plus instructor/host). In 2011  Its sister group West Toronto Photography Group became a registered not-for-profit to further help photographers in the GTA while also serving the whole community.  -  West Toronto Photography Group is one of the cities busiest photography groups and we actively support monthly workshops for a charity food drive for the Daily Bread food bank. Our first full day photo event - Focus on Weston is a free photography event to raise donations of new Socks, gloves and hats for our community through Socks for Souls this December 17th 2019 at Artscape Weston Commons.

Our mission, is to enlighten and inspire the creativity within our city, have fun shooting and build friendships within the photography community while promoting imaging and photographic skills and education to all that are interested. We are creating workshops and programs that enrich our members, are fun to do and they assist/ pair up with other not for profit groups throughout the city .

Basic Membership to the Toronto Photography group is free, and easily accessible, people become members by signing up to any event or workshop on our meetup page.

The West Toronto Photography Group  has a yearly membership fee of $299 and that includes voting rights at the annual meeting on the types of workshops we offer to our members , with a strong focus on the sense of community and fostered friendships by bringing together  photographers from throughout the GTA. Workshops will also be lower prices with more sales on last minute workshops and outings as well.

We assist people in building their own careers, many members in the community don’t have formal training we offer hands on experience in a professional environment. For some members photography is simply a creative outlet, a hobby something that helps them achieve balance in their life, TTPG provides a space to connect with others who share the same interest.

Who Should Attend Our Workshops?

Whether you're a seasoned photographer looking to freshen up your portfolio, just starting out your career in photography, a hobbyist  or fine art artist who wants to learn some new skills. All our workshops are comfortably structured to suit all levels.

Sessions range from beauty to portraits, fashion to glamous lighting and fine art lighting. Each session will be well organized and well structured. The workshops are structured but are also easy going. Participants are always encouraged to chat with other photographers, ask questions of the instructors and share their images on meetup for critique and exposure.
