Lailaa Manju: A Queer Movie Screening
Details
A crowd-funded film with a predominantly queer crew shot ‘Lailaa Manju’ between two lockdowns. The 55 minute film is a queer re-imagination of ‘Lailaa Majnu’ – the Indian equivalent of Romeo-Juliet. They sought to portray a sensitive, lived-in, nuanced version of the universal coming out conundrum and how it’s different for the Indian queer. The film has had a bunch of festival/community screenings and the audiences have resonated deeply with the story. The team is currently on the lookout for a suitable streaming platform.
Tickets are $15
An after party will take place at The Drink in the village
